Mechelle's POV
A cool breeze swept through the streets and alleys, rustling the trees lining the roads, causing withered yellow leaves to fall from the branches.
I stood quietly by the roadside, gazing at the deep blue sky. In my ears echoed the last words Lucas said to me before I left:
"Mechelle, I just want you to remember one thing, I owe your father. No matter what happens, I'll stand by your side."
That was his response when I asked him if I could trust him.
The atmosphere at dinner was rather heavy. I lost my appetite after only a few bites. It was rare for Ivanka to remain silent during the meal. Putting down my chopsticks, I headed upstairs to my room. I didn't look back, but I could feel several eyes watching me, making my back tingle as if pricked by needles.
