Mechelle's POV
Early the next morning, I drove Alexander Duncan's borrowed Porsche to school without even stopping for breakfast. All the way to the parking lot, I attracted envious glances.
As soon as I found Melody, someone told me that Mr. Callous wanted to see me in his office.
"Mechelle, is Mr. Callous calling you about the rumors circulating these days? Some of them are quite harsh..." Melody looked at my expression, refraining from saying more, but her concern was evident.
I shrugged indifferently, smiling. "It's okay. They can't pin anything on me that I haven't done."
"I believe you! It's just... that car you're driving?" Melody pursed her lips, feeling uneasy.
"Borrowed from a friend," I replied casually.
Melody quickly believed me, patting my shoulder confidently. "Mechelle, I believe you. Those people are just jealous of you."
