Mechelle's POV
I walked to the door, turned the handle, and discovered that it was not locked. I stood in the corridor outside, gazing at the horizon where the sea met the sky, with seagulls flying over the vast, blue ocean. Below my feet was a dense forest, with tall tropical rainforest vegetation covering the entire island.
With no one guarding me, I relaxed a bit and slowly walked outside. However, as I reached the corner, a dark barrel of a gun suddenly pointed at my forehead.
"Don't, don't shoot. I'm just having a look around," I stammered, my lips twitching and my body trembling uncontrollably, feeling like my life was at the mercy of this man's whim.
"The boss said you're not allowed to wander," the man said grimly.
I nodded quickly. "I understand, I'll go back now."
