Chapter 15 - The Beginning of the Inheritance Battle 4.

A burst of footsteps approached, and both of them paused, looking in that direction... It seemed that they weren't the only ones summoned today.

Ning An stared in the direction of the sound, wondering who it could be.

The footsteps grew nearer, and Ning An saw the face emerge from around the corner, surprisingly her second uncle...

Ning Nanfeng saw her and paused for a moment before a fake smile appeared on his face. He slowly approached, "Xiao An, didn't expect to see you here... Is it about the land tender?"

Ning An took a few steps back, feeling disgusted. "Uncle, why ask when you already know? Aren't you here for the same reason?"

Ning Nanfeng chuckled, a relieved expression on his face. He had thought it was Ning Xuan, that brat. Now that he saw it was her, he felt relieved. If he couldn't handle Ning Xuan, could he not handle a little girl?

"Xiao An, then we'll have fair competition..." Ning Nanfeng patted Ning An's shoulder, like a caring elder. His fake demeanor made Ning An nauseous. She wondered if he would find a mess when he walked into that room.

---

In the dimly lit room, a person stood respectfully on the side, surprisingly the man who appeared in the basement.

He looked up, cautiously observing Ning Xuan standing in front of the French window. Following his gaze, he saw the Joy International building opposite. He wondered how the young lady had angered the master this time. In this silent atmosphere, he didn't know how to speak up.

Ning Xuan noticed the person behind him and spoke in a low voice, "Say what you want to say."

The man swallowed nervously. "Master, it's easy to talk about that land. If you say it, who would dare not to give it to you? Why make Miss Ning suffer?"

"What I give her and what she gets on her own are different," Ning Xuan replied in a rare gentle tone. The man felt that his master was completely taken by Miss Ning, even with a touch of love.

"Moreover, making her work hard only to realize in the end that she still relies on me... Isn't it interesting?" Ning Xuan smirked.

Well, he shouldn't mock his master for being in love. It should be that Miss Ning couldn't escape from his master's palm.

"Master, did you find Ning Nanfeng's account book?" he asked respectfully.

"It's ready. Should I hand it over to Miss Ning?" he replied.

Ning Xuan nodded and looked at the towering building opposite. From this angle, he could faintly see the piece of yellow earth behind it.

Suddenly, a phone rang, breaking the silence, and the ringtone echoed in the room. Zero went to pick it up, looking at the caller ID, and gently reminded him.

"It's the old master's call... Does the master want to answer?"

Ning Xuan clicked his tongue impatiently and gestured. Zero answered the call on speakerphone. A voice, old but authoritative, came through the receiver, conveying a sense of oppression even through the screen.

"Come back to Xin Du. You have a day. I must see you tomorrow!"

Then the call ended. Zero shook his phone, feeling intimidated by the silent pressure. He looked at Ning Xuan's increasingly serious expression and dared not speak.

---

Ning An returned home, her eyes scanning the room as if looking for someone...

Sun Yi stepped forward and handed her a glass of water, teasingly saying, "Young Master hasn't come back yet."

Ning An spat out the water she was drinking in surprise. She wiped her mouth awkwardly. "I'm not looking for him!"

She quickly went upstairs, her steps somewhat hurried. Sun Yi looked at her retreating figure with a teasing expression in her eyes.

She sat in her room for a while. The sky outside quickly darkened, and she still hadn't heard anyone come back...

Feeling increasingly agitated, she walked to her desk and turned on her computer, deciding to check the specifications of the land again. Suddenly, she noticed an anonymous email.

She moved the mouse and opened the email, finding that it contained the documents of Ning Nanfeng's embezzlement of the Ning Group's account books, as well as the amount laundered through underground banks. She looked at it in astonishment - numerous transactions with huge amounts of money.

So Ning Nanfeng and that old Qiang had long been colluding openly, using the company's funds like this. How could Dad not know about it? Maybe it was because of their so-called brotherly relationship, he turned a blind eye. Dad had always been soft-hearted, but she didn't expect him to be so lenient. Ning Nanfeng's deficit was so large, and if this continued, the Ning Group would eventually be bled dry.

She didn't know who the kind-hearted person was who sent her the information, but she couldn't let this opportunity slip away. She took out her phone and dialed Lao Qiang's number.

---

Halfway up the mountain villa.

Ning An walked in, and the standing bodyguard respectfully called her "Miss."

"Where's Grandpa?"

Ning An asked. The bodyguard, under her gaze, felt his rough, dark face flush red and became nervous and stuttered.

"G-g-grandpa... is fishing in the back mountain, Miss."

"Thank you." In the back mountain, Ning's grandfather leaned on his fishing rod, wearing a straw hat and dozing off... Hearing footsteps approaching, he looked back and met Ning An's eyes.

He blinked his somewhat drowsy eyes, looked at his granddaughter, his face less drowsy, straightened up, and picked up the fishing rod in his hand, withdrawing his gaze coldly.

Ning An covered the disappointment in her eyes. It seemed that Grandpa still didn't like her.

In a voice that was old but spirited, he said, "Why are you here? Your people don't know better. Didn't I say not to let anyone in if there's nothing going on?"

Ning An ignored his displeasure. "Grandpa, don't blame the people outside. It's An'er's fault. I came here today to tell Grandpa that I've got the land behind Joy International."

Ning's grandfather finally looked at Ning An with some seriousness. "I remember this land was supposed to be handled by Nanfeng and Zefeng. How did Zefeng give it to you?"

There was a strong tone of dissatisfaction and skepticism in his voice, even a hint of anger that Ning An didn't understand. She smiled and replied, "Grandpa, take a look."

She took out a document from her bag, flipping through it page by page until the end.

There were two red stamps and the signatures and handprints of both parties, and the name on one side was Ning An.

Ning's grandfather glanced at Ning An. If he remembered correctly, this granddaughter, like Ning Xuan, had just finished her college entrance examination. She managed to get this project, which was quite impressive.

"Tell me, how did you do it?" Ning An's eyes sparkled with a bright smile.

"Grandpa, I've checked. This piece of land was originally a hot potato. Mr. Qiang was eager to get his hands on it, but because the price couldn't be negotiated, and with time dragging on, he wouldn't get any benefits once the government's notice arrived. Finally, he agreed to sign a contract with us on a 40-60 split."

Ning's grandfather still looked somewhat serious, "That's quite a share..."

"Yeah, the land was signed at its current value. If a resort is built here, the economic benefits would exceed the 4% we've conceded. This deal is a win-win."

"Hahaha, well done," Ning's grandfather's eyes showed a hint of admiration.

She listened as Ning's grandfather's attitude softened with a smile, feeling relieved. She skipped over the part where she threatened Lao Qiang, but it didn't matter anymore.
