The Major Magic Disciplines.
The seven arts of magic, in other words, taught in the University of Magic.
Conjuration, Transmutation, Enchantment, Illusion, Healing, Summoning, and Abjuration. Today's focus was on Conjuration and Transmutation.
Conjuration: creating something from mana alone. Many spells fell into this discipline whether they wanted to or not. Attacking spells like Fire Ball or Dart were the most basic examples of Conjuration. A mage or wizard "conjured" the attacks.
On an academic level, attacking spells and conjuration weren't studied the same. It was like comparing biology and biomedicine; some principles were the same but ultimately there were different uses, thoughts, and theories.
Those that specialized in Conjuration were called Conjurors. Often, conjuring created something temporary, which would cease to exist once the spell was done.
