"Kaziiii! Coumaaaa!"
A short elf in a fulani braid was running toward them from the east. She was boosted by the wind, a long leap occasionally breaking the run. Couma met up with her.
"What happened?"
"I-it's the village! The Booas have infiltrated!" the Yumbo said.
"Someone messed up," Kazi stated. "Stay here. I'm going."
Kazi ran. Behind him, Pauline and Couma called out for him to wait. He couldn't, not when lives were in jeopardy. He filled himself with his mana and propelled forward at speeds a partridge would find ludicrous. A magnitude of speed that allowed him to cross from south to west in seconds.
The hyenas were there. They had entered the range of the village, of the tables and campfires. Off at the perimeter, shoulder pouring out scarlet, was Jackson with Sylvia tending to him.
'Emma and Sarah…where are they?'
