He moved forward...towards the item.

A dark terrifying mass of black energy tried to suffocate him to death immediately...

The ancient voice erupted forth in anger.
As a terrifying force immediately bounded the Dark Grimoire.
Zeras felt cold drops of perspiration dropping down his forehead.
As the ancient voice spoke once again.
"Form a connection with it."
Zeras immediately realized what the ancient voice is talking about.
It's most likely that soul related bind that shows up on an artifact after ones become its master.
