And then, he caught sight of what he had been afraid of.
It was actually a boy who seemed to be around 15 years old, with yellow hair and a skinny body...but most importantly, the boy had a large hole within his chest. Zeras could only imagine the astounding and almost unimaginable level of willpower that could justify such a thing.
"Despite being so badly injured, just one step away from death, he was actually able to walk this far." Zeras was filled with shock, yet he knew such a talented guy's life would be coming to an end right about now.
The boy let out a slight groan as he collapsed onto the ground with a loud thud, blood dripping continuously from his body.
As Zeras, who had the righteous thought of at least burying the boy, suddenly came to a stop, his legs halted. He saw the large trail of blood that continuously followed the boy.
He immediately moved back, and finally came to rest after staying a couple of meters away from the corpse. Just behind a stalagmite, he felt countless pairs of eyes suddenly tear through the darkness.
Gregarious dream creatures slowly appeared in sight. They had white crab-like bodies and pincers, looking no different from a normal crab except for the dark worms continuously wriggling across their bodies.
And as always, Zeras always had the urge to puke away everything within him, but luckily for him, "It had been three days now since he last had any sort of meal."
Slowly, the dream creatures feasted upon the carcass of the boy.
"CHUUUMPPP!!!! CHUUUUMP!!!!"
The scene was truly horrifying as blood, organs, and skin were torn apart by their sharp pincers and then thrown into their mouths that had countless worms arranged in a symmetrical manner, wriggling continuously.
And although it was quite dark, as darkness had long fallen upon the dream realm, surprisingly though he could actually see clearly. And immediately after they finished the meal, the gregarious dream creatures immediately turned back, as they all headed for their respective caves.
Zeras waited for some minutes after they had left the place before he slowly rose to his feet. Then tiptoeing out of the cave, he glanced around. Upon realizing that there didn't seem to be any imminent threat.
He immediately moved, as he carefully traversed through the forest.
"After all, he wouldn't want to be killed 'mistakenly.'"
He was suddenly interrupted by a weird sound just a couple of feet behind him. Before his eyes lay a dream creature with a dark body that had countless worms wriggling around it, it stood on all fours and had a large spiky tail jutting out of its sacrum...
Zeras had a narrowed brow, as he was suddenly assaulted by countless claws slashing through the air at terrifying speed. Every time an attack was about to hit him, he would immediately roll against the ground, jump into the air, or hit his head, head-first into the ground.
Basically, he did all unconventional things he could ever think of just so he could keep up with the rate at which the fight was taking place.
He was finding it hard to continuously avoid the strike of the dream creature, as a claw tore through his hand, leaving a large claw-like mark on his arm, blood oozing out continuously.
He felt a stinging pain assault him, bringing him to reality. This wasn't a facade; it was a true life-and-death battle, a battle of survival of the fittest. And the rule was quite simple: either he dies...or the dream creature before him dies!!!
And he already chose one, as a large claw was about to rip off his head, he immediately ducked a little. The claw passed just right above his head...yet he had a focused gaze unlike never before.
He couldn't afford to think about petty things. He had a cold look on his face, as two more slashes suddenly slashed from above him. He immediately moved, as he rolled to his side. As the dull thud of the claw crashing against the ground rang out.
Causing his heart to beat widely and crazily...blood seemed to be flowing faster in this state, as he immediately felt a slight rush of adrenaline. Maybe it was the reality that struck him, as he knew it was either he died or the dream creature died.
And since he didn't want to die and neither did his body want to be eaten, then it was best that the body cooperated as much as it could...
He exerted every single ounce of strength contained within him, his legs easily tore through the air. As he suddenly slid onto the ground...just in time to avoid a deadly strike going right for his heart.
He had a narrowed brow which suddenly turned into a wide grin...as he suddenly rolled against the ground, picking up a long bony spear, that was no doubt the remains of a Nightmarish creature. One which was undoubtedly far stronger than the one before him.
He could feel the hardness and sturdiness of the bone...it was just on another level entirely.
Which led him to have a question and a dreadful answer.
The question being what could have killed such a dreadful Dream creature...and the answer...
His eyes bulged out in shock, as he realized a fact...
There was actually a dream creature far more terrifying than such a dreadful creature...he felt his heart tighten by countless folds at the thought of such a being roaming about within the expanse of the forest. But another question remains: where exactly does such a terrifying creature reside in...
"As I most certainly wouldn't want to luckily stumble upon its' unholy residence."
He immediately rolled to his left-hand side, as he successfully avoided the strike...and immediately afterwards. He suddenly moved...as a terrifying claw suddenly slashed down from above him.
Attempting to tear him apart...as he exerted greater force on his leg, boosting his speed to greater heights. As he narrowly avoided the strike before he immediately slid onto the ground, avoiding another slash that intended to rip his head apart.
"SLASSSH!!!! RIIIPP!!!!"
His leg suddenly tapped against the ground, as he immediately landed on top of the dream creature. Getting a nauseating front-view of the creepy worms that wriggled across the body of the dream creature.
He could only hold his urge to puke out his intestines...as he had a determined look on his face.
And then...the bony spear immediately pierced down.
"PUCHIII!!!!"
It easily tore though the body of the dream creature, as Zeras strengthened his grip on the bony spear. His veins popped up continuously, his entire arm having veins wriggling around crazily as the bony spear suddenly dug deeper into the body of the dream creature.
"PUCHIII!!!!!"
The sound of skin being pierced through rang out, and immediately afterwards. Zeras immediately moved, his hands still on the bony spear as he slid down against the body of the dream creature.
"SCREEEECH!!!!!"
The bony spear easily pierced through the body of the dream creature as it got ripped apart...before dark blood and organs spluttered into the air as it collapsed onto the ground with a loud thud...
And then...the hand of every world evolver had a golden glow to it...as a set of runic ancient words that they could surprisingly understand suddenly appeared before his eyes...
