Later that night,
Jade walked into the lush garden bathed with warmth from the moonlight.
' Your Highness, you are here. You are late, you have to apologise with three cups of wine.' A young youth says to her. Jade couldn't see the youth's face but he felt very familiar.
' Shiver, How can you punish her Highness with three cups of wine? Make it five.' Another youth says.
' *Tsk Tsk* Nightmare, for a moment I thought you were going to intercede for her.' A third youth says.
' No way. Since when does she need interceding for, MidKnight?' The second youth says.
The other two laughed and nodded in agreement. Jade was confused. She walked closer to get a glimpse of the three youths but then everything faded into darkness.
Jade woke up startled. It was just a dream. But why did it feel so real?
' Jade did you see that?' Jade says to System Jade.
' Hm I did.' System Jade replied.
' It felt so real and it all felt very familiar.' Jade says confused.
' Relax maybe you are just excited.' System Jade says.
' Maybe.' Jade replies softly not entirely convinced. She takes out her phone and downloaded several action games. She played for three hours till she felt relaxed again.
' You play well. Do actresses get gaming lessons as well.' System Jade comments.
Jade eyes dimmed. ' No they don't.' She replied. System Jade could feel that something was off about Jade's mood, she was at loss on how to comfort her. ' It's alright.' She said.
They are both silent for a while till Jade says.
' When I entered the entertainment industry newly, I was eager and prepared to achieve the best. I had the talent, I had the looks, what could possibly go wrong? Or so I thought. Each time I was part of a cast, the equipments would get missing, other actors would fall sick or scandals would break out. It didn't take me long to discover that it was the handiwork of my so-called family. I was very very angry, mad and frustrated. Then stayed up late every night thinking of a way to free my self from my bondage. For three months I didn't step out of my house, I did nothing just stayed that way being angry. I would punch the wall, I would smash vases, I would break mirrors and I used my fists immediately any of the maids threw a single nasty glancs my way. Later I watched this shorts on YouTube that listed signs of depression. My anger was making me depressed which made me violence prone. Then I thought to myself, " Enough is enough. What am I waiting around for?"
Then I started making plans to separate from my family, I "took" a few display vases and paintings and sold them. Then the following month, I brought up cutting ties with them and unsurprisingly, they agreed. I had freed myself but I was still angry. I was just 16, How did I wrong them? Was my future something they could casually mess with when they felt like? I had left the family behind but I was still angry and I still felt like hitting out my pain on someone or something but my pride would never allow me to visit a psychologist. This went on till I saw a game ad, and tried it. When I fought, slaughtered and had victory over my enemies, I would feel my anger dissipate. So even when I was insulted, cursed at or snubbed, I would have a calm smile on my face till night time when I would vent in the game. Over time I did let go of my anger and I know longer felt like punching the plastic nose of those white lotuses but I did become a big time game addict. But since I came here, it's been better. I don't have anything to be depressed or angry about.' Jade says and then sighed deeply. It felt good to let it all out, she felt as though the burden from her last life had disappeared.
' I'm glad you are okay now. Just know that in the future, I am here for you.' System Jade says.
In the future, I am here for you.
To Jade that wasn't consolation, it was assurance. In this life she wasn't alone, she had that childish grandfather, the naive little Justin, smooth-spoken Tyler, Calm and steady Matt and the cute frowning cat in her head.
' You forgot your fiancé.' System Jade says.
Jade snorted. ' What fiancé? That's just a title, I can't trust that deceptive little fox. Dating him is a temporary measure to ensure safety, incase you forgot he's the most powerful villain second only to me. I don't understand his thought process at all, his only redeeming quality is his relationship with your mother and his handsome face.' Jade says.
' I hope you remember you have an exam in less than three weeks.' System Jade suddenly says and Jade cursed. She had forgotten all about the mission to come first at the stupid exam.
She entered the virtual library and reluctantly started studying under Jade's guidance.
The next morning,
Jade woke up early and freshened up quickly. She was in a hurry to call off her engagement with the scumbag male lead.
When she arrived at the dining room, Old man King had just settled in.
' You seem to be in a hurry.' Old man King says.
' Good morning great grandfather. You really know me to well. I need to rid myself of this engagement quickly.' Jade says scooping food for old man King.
' Don't worry, I'll make sure it gets cancelled today.' Old man King says.
The two had a simple breakfast, ( consisting of banana bread, biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, coffee cake, French toast and porridge), and then prepared to leave. Jade pasted a sticky note on Matt's door explaining she had to step out to cancel her engagement and reminded them to have their breakfast.
About 90 minutes later, the car pulled up at the Lincoln Residence.
Jade spotted two figures at the entrance.
The girl looked sweet and innocent with her hair in two buns wearing a light pink dress, laughing sweetly while hugging her notebooks and the guy smiled charming at the girl.
Jade recognised "her" twin sister sister, Ruby Thompson. Then the guy next to her must be the legendary male lead.
The guy has thick dark hair and his facial features would have been impressive if she hadn't seen Jayden Lincoln's real face. Liam Lincoln was like a high school jock while Jayden Lincoln was like a sickly refined scholar from ancient times.
Jade helped old man King out of the car and noticed the two people who had their eyes on her.
