"Cut him off!" she ordered, motioning for Ryan and Sam to flank him.
Weller was headed for a dense thicket of trees, hoping to lose them in the cover. But Alice was determined. She could hear her team fanning out, closing in from all sides.
"Give it up, Weller!" Alice shouted. "You can't escape!"
Weller glanced back, his face twisted with desperation. He tripped on a root and went down hard, but scrambled to his feet, trying to disappear into the trees.
Alice lunged forward, tackling him to the ground. They grappled in the dirt, Weller struggling fiercely. But Alice was stronger and more determined. She pinned him down, cuffing his wrists behind his back.
"It's over, Weller," she panted. "You're under arrest."
Weller slumped, the fight going out of him. "You don't understand," he gasped. "I was trying to save the community. They're destroying everything we built."
