Sam sat on the alleyway, his eyes scanning the bustling city street. Next to him, Angel huddled in her worn-out jacket, a somber expression on her face. She had already given him the food she bought for him.
"Hey Angel, what's wrong?" Sam asked, noticing the sadness in her eyes.
Angel sighed, her gaze distant. "I don't know, Sam. I've just been feeling really down lately."
"Is it because of the cold weather?" Sam suggested, trying to lighten the mood.
Angel shook her head. "No, it's something else. I just can't shake this feeling of emptiness."
Sam furrowed his brow, concern evident in his voice. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Angel hesitated for a moment before speaking softly. "I think... I think I'm just really missing my mom."
Sam's heart sank at her words. "I'm so sorry, Angel. Where did your mom go?"
Angel looked at him, confusion clouding her eyes. "Sam, my mom... she died giving birth to me."
