Sanchez nodded. "I'll make some calls. In the meantime, keep the pressure on Hawthorne and Reed. If we can get them to talk, it might confirm the link."
Alice and Ryan returned to the interrogation room, where George Hawthorne sat, looking tired and defeated. Alice leaned across the table, her voice low and menacing.
"We know you've been working with the Shadow Serpents, George. We have evidence linking them to the fires. If you cooperate now, it could go easier for you."
Hawthorne's eyes darted nervously. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Alice slammed her hand on the table. "Cut the crap! You're looking at serious prison time. Help us bring down Gentry and the Serpents, and we might be able to help you."
Hawthorne swallowed hard, the facade of confidence crumbling. "Okay, okay. I'll talk. But I want a deal."
