Ryan raised an eyebrow. "You think they're using arson to drive down property values and force owners to sell?"
"It's possible," Alice replied. "We need to dig deeper into Gentech's operations. I want to know who's in charge and who their local contacts are. Start with their CEO and work your way down. We also need to talk to those activists Gregson mentioned."
The next day, Alice and Ryan met with one of the activists, Sarah Miller, at a local café. Sarah was a fierce advocate for preserving Gosral's history, her passion evident in her fiery eyes and animated gestures.
"Gentech has been trying to get their hands on the historic district for years," Sarah said, her voice tinged with anger. "They've used every trick in the book to pressure owners into selling. But until now, they hadn't resorted to something as drastic as arson."
"Do you have any proof of their involvement?" Alice asked, her pen poised over her notebook.
