Talia's POV
I watched Rah'sharan tending to Cassius' still form with a detached sort of intensity. His gnarly hands ghosted over the newly healed flesh with an almost reverent care. For a terrifying moment, I thought I saw Cassius' chest rise and fall with a rasping breath. But the shaman's shoulders slumped almost imperceptibly as he pulled back.
"Well?" The growled demand came from my left. Mia loomed over me, green eyes blazing with a mixture of impatience and disgust. "Isn't the mutt stable now? Or are you just dragging this out to revel in your little sideshow spectacle?"
I opened my mouth to protest her vile accusation, but Rah'sharan raised a skeletal hand. "Peace, child. The work is never so simplistic, with forces as primordial as these."
Mia sneered. "Don't patronize me with your—"
