Chereads / Game of Thrones (Asoiaf) : Lord Robb Stark / Chapter 13 - Deployment of Troops

Chapter 13 - Deployment of Troops

The next morning, Catelyn Stark and Robb said goodbye at the Bay of Cailin. The mother and son, who had just met one night, were about to face the moment of separation.

Before leaving, Catelyn looked at her son with pride in her heart: "I never thought you would take the initiative to propose a marriage. A little boy may be able to wield a sword, but only a true adult lord can understand the meaning of a political marriage contract and accept it calmly."

Robb smiled and said, "I heard that the little rose of the Tyrell family is extremely beautiful, so I am not at a disadvantage."

Catelyn was still a little worried: "Over there in Luanhe City, that Frey Your Excellency is not an easy person to get along with. I'm worried that he may not let you cross the river."

"It doesn't matter, I will take care of this matter."

Seeing Robb's confident look, Catelyn didn't say anything more and got on her horse. She left Carlin Bay with several escort knights.

Robb was worried about his mother's safety, so he asked the two children of the Manderly family to escort her. After all, there were bandits and robbers everywhere outside, and necessary security measures must be taken.

Robb looked back at Moat Cailin, where all the lords and their troops were ready to go through the swamp to find Tywin's army for a decisive battle.

Robb looked at an older knight and said politely, "Sir Blackfish, you are most familiar with the situation in the Riverlands. Please pay more attention to the road ahead."

Sir Blackfish's original name was Brynden Tusker. He was the younger brother of the current Lord of the Riverlands. Because he did not want to accept the marriage contract made by his brother, he became independent from the Tully family and had his own Blackfish flag, so Robb called him Ser Blackfish.

He originally followed Lysa to the Arryn Valley as an errand, but after hearing about the tragic war situation in the Riverlands, he resolutely followed his niece Catelyn to the battlefield.

Therefore, it cannot be said that the Arryn Valley did not participate in the war at all. At least one knight came.

In terms of seniority, Ser Blackfish was Robb's second grandfather, but on the battlefield, Robb was the commander-in-chief, so although Robb showed rare courtesy, it was nothing more.

Although Sir Blackfish was older, his eyes still revealed vitality: "Leave it to me."

Leaving a thousand archers stationed in the Bay of Cailin, Robb's army marched south along the King's Road, passing through the swamp. The swamp lord sent scouts to help Robb's army lead the way, and there were no dangers along the way.

After crossing the swamp and entering the Riverlands, Sir Blackfish carefully selected a hundred men and a hundred good horses to inquire about news everywhere in the dangerous Riverlands.

This second grandpa's ability was very outstanding, and new news was delivered every day. Although most of it was not good news, it was still much better than being left in the dark.

But when Sir Blackfish placed a latest battle report on the tables of the lords, everyone fell silent.

"Jaime the Kingslayer led his troops to besiege Riverrun City. Edmure Tully led the remaining defeated soldiers to fight to the death with Jaime at the foot of Riverrun City. As a result, he and a group of knights were captured alive by Jaime.

Lord Blackwood, who had a chance to escape, led the remaining troops were trapped in Riverrun." Although Sir Blackfish reported the battle situation expressionlessly, he was already extremely anxious in his heart: that was his nephew!

"After Ser Edmure Tully's defeat, most of the princes in the Riverlands dispersed and fled back to their respective castles. As a result, they were defeated one by one by the army led by Lord Tywin. Harrenhal was sacrificed and lacked Bligh. Ravenstree, where Lord Wood was seated, fell immediately."

"The lords under Lord Tywin are burning, killing, and looting in the Riverlands. Several territories have been burnt to scorched earth."

"Aside from Riverrun and Lord Frey's Luanhe City, there is only Melis in the Riverlands. The Te family still retains Seaside City, but they don't have many people, so they can hardly play any role."

When Great Jon heard these battle reports, his beard almost flew up: "They were defeated by the Lannister family so quickly. There are tens of thousands of people. Even tens of thousands of pigs cannot be killed so quickly!"

Roose Bolton observed the situation as keenly as ever: "On the battlefield in the Riverlands, the Lannister family has already won. If we don't attack immediately, the Riverlands will be completely lost within ten days."

Rickard Karstark roared loudly: "Fight them, fight them immediately! Otherwise, these guys will think that we are just free food!"

Robb took a look at the performance of the great nobles he relied on and secretly lamented that although Greatjon and Rickard Karstark were brave, in terms of stability, they had to be wily and cunning.

No wonder he was able to kill the Stark family and become the new Guardian of the North in the original timeline.

Having made up his mind, Robb began to make his own tactical arrangements: "Sir Blackfish, pay attention to the ravens in the sky. If there are any messenger ravens that are not ours, shoot them down. I don't want our every move in the Riverlands to be in danger under the surveillance of the enemy."

Ser Blackfish said respectfully: "I have made arrangements. If you want, I can make a hat for you now with the feathers of the crows that were shot down."

Robb said to Ser Blackfish, very satisfied with his performance: "See, this is called professionalism."

Roose Bolton also glanced at Sir Blackfish. Although he had long heard that this knight's ability far exceeded that of his nephew Sir Edmure, now it seems that this person's ability is even better than rumored.

"You all know the current situation. The Green Fork River flows down from north to south, dividing our battlefield into two parts. One is Riverrun in the west, and the other is King's Road in the east. I told you before that I will concentrate the main army in the east and fight Lord Tywin's army."

The lords in the north all thought that Robb had changed his mind, but they did not expect that Robb's next words made them doubt whether their ears were bad.

Robb's finger slid across the map and finally stopped at Riverrun: "My plan is still the same as before, but there is one more thing I need to tell you. I will personally bring the wolf cavalry to support Riverrun. You bring the soldiers and hold Tywin back on the King's Road."

The expressions on the faces of the lords changed dramatically. They did not expect that their boss's rashness not only did not heal but actually became more serious.

Before Edmure was captured by Jaime the Kingslayer, they believed that only by converging the armies of the North and the Riverlands could they be sure to capture Jaime.

Now that Edmure is captured, the fighting strength of the Riverlands has been greatly weakened. Even if the army from the north joins, there is only a 60% chance of winning, but Robb only wants to go to support with 300 cavalry?

What is the difference between this and committing suicide?

But when they thought of all the incredible things Robb had done recently, a faint fire arose in their hearts. Maybe Lord Robb had a backup plan?
