When Ember stepped inside the library, indeed, Percy was waiting for her in the table he'd picked for both of them, walking towards it, she sat down opposite him and dropped her bag on her lap so that she could open it and bring out her books and writing materials..
" Where's it?"
He asked her because she hadn't submitted her assignment.
It took the girl a few seconds to realize what he was demanding for..
Slowly, she fumbled for it inside her bag and brought out the rough book on which she'd worked on.
Percy, leaned away from the seat to sit upright, he then, brought his hand to take the book from the table so that he could read what she'd done.
While his tutee watched, she bit her inner cheek on seeing a look of dismay appear across his features before he raised his eyes to stare back at her.
" Five out of thirty?"he raised his eyebrow.
" The sixth one was hard." she confessed to hear him say,"You could have skipped it and solved the rest. "
However, when he looked down at her work once more, his lips curved," Your answers are right but the solving is wrong."
What?!! November had made sure she'd followed the steps he'd shown to her!
Taking hold of her pencil, he marked bad on the sheet and flipped over to the next and started to write under the girl's watch while making sure that she paid attention, occasionally, he'd question her to see her respond..
Soon, Ember saw that Percy had stopped writing to stare at her, this time, with a different look in his eyes.
" There's something on your face."
" What?" she asked, curious to know what it was, and watched him lean close, to cover up the space between them, causing her heart to throb, due to his close proximity.
When he raised his hand, he brought it to her face, and brushed his thumb across the side of her lips. " Close your eyes, " he told her and when she did,in the next second,Ember felt the warmth of his own lips on her own, causing her to gasp-
To gasp back to reality, because one,Percy was flipping through the pages of the textbook in his front to select questions that he could reason with her, and two, there was nothing on her face when she felt that exact place she'd imagined him to touch her...
An hour later, after studying, Ember packed her books and got ready to move. Once stepping out of the library, she walked through the hallways, before heading out of the building.
She was just two steps away from the library block when she caught sight of Nico, smoking leisurely with the side of his body, facing her, where she could only take peeks of his side profile due to how he was sitting on the block that was on the ground, where one of his long legs was placed flat on the ground, while the other , he place on the surface of the block.
With the tree that was behind him, he found support with as it was against it that he rested his back..
Silently glaring at him, on remembering the way he'd torn the strap of her bag without apologizing, and not to forget about the way he'd humiliated her, that same day, she started to walk away from there.
" Stop."came his deep sharp voice that that instant, caused her not to stop, but to quicken her pace, the way she did when she tried to run away from today's lesson with his friend.
Blowing the last of the cigar stick in his hand, he threw the bud down and squashed it under the pressure of his sneakers whilst, chuckling coldly...
Moreover, the moment that Ember got to her dorm, she shut the door loudly behind her and found rest on it by leaning against it for five seconds.
Her heart hammered against her chest and she huffed for air due to her, running.
Fool!
She called herself as somehow she started to regret not stopping at that time he had called for her.
Ember brushed the trimmed edges of her short bangs with her hands.
Ember could have sworn that there was an evidence of annoyance in the boy's eyes the moment she turned back to look at him. He was always annoyed, but the one she saw today was fierce, like more coals had been dropped to intensify the fire in them, and so that they burned brighter...
During one of the days-
Actually, it was on a Sunday, after November had finished with her assignments, and was ready to submit it to Percy, she walked upstairs on getting to the boys' dorm and as usual, some fixed their gazes on her, while she wandered about..
There were two floors— the one below, and the one, above the floor below.
And so, she didn't know which floor was Percy's and the right door to knock at..
Looking at her surrounding where some boys still lingered, she decided to ask for direction from one of them.
" Excuse me," she approached a boy who looked like he was also, a senior, who wore formal shirt and pants, that made him appear a little descent and more approachable than the rest of them. His wrist that supported his grip on the book in his hand, that covered his face, lowered to look at her, still remaining rooted in his position where he was seated on the stairs and his legs, stretched..
The boy's face looked familiar, but with the memory of how, proved to be unavailable. Therefore, she just decided to ask him right away," Sorry. I'm looking for Percy Luther. Tall, a senior probably in his final years, long straight hair?" She went ahead to describe him as much as she remembered, afterwards, the boy said,"Dorm's above floor, light colored . "
He told her and in return, the girl thanked him with a little smile on her face, before she then, walked away.
Just as the girl departed from his sight, he stared at her a little longer, before resuming his reading.
Getting to the floor above, Ember walked until she reached the doors with light brown colors.
Yes, 'doors'. Because there were three of them that possessed the same colors, like they were replaced at the same day, causing the girl to get confused to know the one that belonged to Percy.
Although the senior had mentioned about the exact door, Ember clearly had forgotten. She didn't know if it was door 134 or 135 again!
Staring at the door while trying hard to recall, with her brain bulb, not functioning at the moment, Ember's one hand rose to knock at the door on her left softly before pausing. With no response, she knocked again.
The door clicked this time and when it opened, Nico came into her view.
