Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

"The princess is too kind. I am just a cripple who is at the end of his roles so how will my wife even get to be happy with a person like me?" Yang Jun said with a dejected smile. Princess Lan wanted to say something but no words came out from her mouth as even she could sense the death qi surrounding Yang Jun was becoming denser with each day and his life vein was almost no longer full of vitality as it had been sucked away. Everyone has tried to ask about the reason for this but they received no reply from him no matter how many times they convinced him. Yang Jun was a meticulous and a very keen person so it was hard to get anything out of him especially if he has no intentions of telling it to anyone. Princess Lan left Yang Jun's palace while feeling sad and dejected. It felt as if her heart was being stabbed by a million swords as even she was now unsure if Yang Jun's condition could be reversed but she never found the solution to it. She ran ro her grandfather's palace to see if he could get anything from him after all apart from the old man no one else could save Yang Jun." Grandfather ,your little girl is here to pay you a visit," princess Lan said as she bowed slightly." Haiya! What are you doing and why do your eyes look red? Have you been crying? Tell me who is it that bullied you? Is it that Ignorant fool Yang Jun? "The old man asked. Princess Lan's heart instantly warmed but after thinking of Yang Jun's situation her expression instantly changed." Lan'er, I have already tried my best to prolong his life so far and it is no longer possible. No one can save him now as his heart is also being affected. He can't live longer than he already has . I am sorry," the old man said even before princess Lan asked the question.

Princess Lan heard this and was at the end of her wits with no hope in her dull eyes . The old man tried to say a few comforting words but he became tongue tied when he saw her condition and he instantly regretted telling her about Yang Jun's situation." Grandfather, why must it be like this? Why is fate so cruel to him?" Princess Lan asked.

"Princess, you can't blame fate for my situation. I am already satisfied with how my life is. If I were to live longer then I guess I'd just live in fear and worry for the rest of it so it is better this way," Yang Jun's voice was heard saying from the door with a smile. Seeing Yang Jun enter the room the old man did not bother to stay any longer and left the both of them in the room as he knew the two of them had a lot to talk about.

"Why? Did it have to be like this? Is there really no other way?" Princess Lan asked with tears in her eyes as she stared at Yang Jun who made his way towards her. Yang Jun did not reply to any of her questions and just hugged her tight but she resisted and hit his chest making him cough.

"Princess, fate is unpredictable and no one is above the heavens. The fear of death disappeared when I fell down that cliff. I once told you that you shouldn't be surprised when you find me dead because I was already dead on the inside. Don't feel sad for me as it is not worth it. I am already satisfied that we met in this lifetime so I must have accumulated a lot of good luck in my past lives," Yang Jun said with a smile as he hugged princess Lan tightly." Yang Jun, youbare heartless. You speak about death so lightly but what will happen to your loved ones? Have you considered any of us? Why are you so heartless?" Princess Lan asked as she broke free from his hug and stared at him. Yang Jun saw the pain in her eyes and he felt like comforting her but he didn't do so rather he allowed her to cry her heart out.

"Princess, mine was meant to be short but you have a long life ahead so live it well as I already lost the struggle to keep on going. Death to me is like a relief because living is already like hell to me. These memories keep haunting me everyday and now I am excited that I can finally leave it all behind. I am sorry for being selfish but it is time for me to leave," Yang Jun said with a smile.

Princess Lan stared at him and felt an urge to slap him but she held it in." Do you know how many people wish to see you live? Do you know how many people love you? Do you wish to send me to my grave before you can be happy? Yang Jun, you know my feelings for you. Are you really willing to finish our story before it even started?" Princess Lan asked as she wiped the tears in her eyes and faced off against the smiling Yang Jun. Yang Jun turned his face away from her and did not reply for a while." Answer me," princess Lan demanded.

"I am already a man with a foot in the grave so it is better to forget me rather than destroy your life for my sake. Our story was meant to have no beginning as the moment I try to write it with my pen I lost the ink to write and the moment I thought of it I lost the courage to go on. The moment I learnt how to love again I lost the will to love as fate gave me no choice. Princess dont cry for a man who is not worth it. I am afraid your feelings I might not accept in this lifetime," Yang Jun said as he wiped off the tears in the princess' eyes before he turned around but a small hand tightly held on to the sleeves of his gown so he couldn't leave.

"I wont accept it. Even if I have to go against fate I will do it. Why dont we go to Kunlun mountains and give it a try? "Princess Lan said." There is only torture for us if we go there. We will have to go through 50 thunder tribulations and 64 sword tribulations if I want to completely get rid of it so it is better to let things be. If I die it will die with me and this will be the end," Yang Jun said .
