Azel's frown deepened further. True, Colwyn had seen through his act when they first met. But Azel had matured greatly since then. He had just come back from a brutal expedition involving a yeti and that nebulous behemoth. Oh that's right, the behemoth.
"By the way, Colwyn, how dangerous exactly is a behemoth ranked monster." Asked Azel tentatively, The zombie wanted to get an accurate understanding of the threat before mentioning the truth to Colwyn. "And how much of a chance would you stand against one."
Azel knew Colwyn was very strong, but the primal fear Azel felt when faced with the nebulous vulture was unlike anything he had felt before. Instinctively the zombie felt that that fact remained true even accounting into his previous life, even if his memories of it remained void.
Azel knew that Colwyn was simply on a different level compared to him, if the zombie was to attack Colwyn there was no future that ended with Azel winning. The zombie's biggest concern was if their was a similar gap between the drake knight and the nebulous vulture.
Colwyn paused, digesting the question and what it could potentially mean. "Well, a behemoth ranked monster is only targeted by the Sunchaser's after extensive planning and scouting. And even then it is hunted by a strike team consisting of at least one templar and carefully selected knights."
Azel smiled nervously, "Well, then I should probably mention I saw one in the mountains when looking for dragon breath herbs,".
Watching Colwyn's body language, Azel was able to roughly piece together his expression without having to see his face. Right now, Colwyn seemed doubtful but at the same time alarmed.
"What?" Said Colwyn, apparently this was all the fearsome drake knight could say.
Repeating his previous statement, Azel said " "Well, then I should probably mention I saw one in the mountains when looking for dragon breath herbs," ". If the threat wasn't so dangerous the zombie probably would of taken a little joy from Colwyn's shock.
The behemoth hadn't done anything yet, but both Colwyn and Azel were aware of the threat it posed to the Sunchaser's. Even with two templars from the warden unit and three templars of the seeker unit gathered together in the main city, the behemoth could without a doubt wreck unimaginable havoc across the city. There were other templars gathered of course, but their ability was targeted in other areas. Archivists weren't known for their sword skill after all.
"I heard you the first time," Grumbled Colwyn, "...Are you sure it was behemoth ranked, sometimes someone with a lack of worldly experience might mistake a strong fiend for one."
Azel felt slightly insulted Colwyn had doubted his judgement, but at the same time the zombie hadn't really done anything to prove him wrong. After all it had been Azel's poor choice of trying to talk to Rio that had resulted in them being stuck in this hot mess. "It wasn't me that knew, But my instinct."
It sounded doubtful, but the drake knight was aware of how sound this logic actually was. After all, he had watched as Azel picked up the basics of combat seemingly instantly because of his "instinct". Nodding, Colwyn stood up. His arm chair let out a low creak as the knight suddenly leapt up.
"The Sunchaser's need to be informed right away. Come on, let's go." Said Colwyn with a tone that left no room for argument.
Arguing, Azel said, "Me? Don't you think it's a bit reckless to drag an undead into the middle of their headquarters. Remember what happened last time I tried doing that!"
"I'll be with you this time, get up, let's go." Responded Colwyn, as he briskly stepped through the living room.
Sighing in the most exaggerated way he could, Azel stood up and adjusted his lenses to make sure they were properly hiding his dull red eyes before following Colwyn back onto the street.
It felt strange walking in tow with a respected knight, and maybe due to the reverence of the order or just Colwyn's own fearsome reputation, the pedestrians shuffled aside for the duo as they walked past.
Colwyn himself took no notice to this, or at least didn't care, as his powerful stride carried him across the city, "Describe the creature to me, what did it look like?"
Scratching the back of his head, Azel tried to remember, "I didn't get a good look at it, but it was definitely a bird of some kind, maybe a vulture?" Pausing for a moment to think, Azel continued, "It was entirely black, so much so that it was impossible to tell the general shape of anything but its silhouette... Actually, it had glowing white eyes but that was pretty much all I got apart from its super long beak. Does any of that mean anything to you?"
Colwyn shook his head, "As you progress through the different ranks of mana-beasts unique monsters become more common, their origins and abilities are entirely unknown, which just makes them more dangerous."
Azel chuckled nervously, "Well that's not very good then, is it?"
Colwyn didn't need to answer of course. Things were just becoming more irritating for the duo, first they had to deal with Rio peering down their backs and now this "nebulous vulture" was hanging just outside the city. Could things get any worse for the drake knight and his undead friend?
Arriving at the front gates of the great marble palace the Sunchaser's called a headquarters, the guards immediately opened the heavy iron doors upon seeing Colwyn and gave a respectful bow. Not bothering to return with any kind of gesture the drake knight blitzed past them in a controlled yet fast stride that Azel was struggling to keep up with.
"Why didn't it attack you?" Asked Colwyn as he pushed through a group of archivists.
Feeling slightly awkward as he he stepped over the various pieces of paper that Colwyn had knocked out of the scholars hands, Azel responded "It definitely was going to, I felt the things bloodlust. But for some reason it changed it's mind."
Colwyn nodded, "It may be related to your true nature. If anyone asks that question just play dumb.
"Sir, yes sir." Grumbled Azel, not quite enjoying being bossed around.
