Another day, another bout of rewards. Patty liked this kind of life. He had been away from school for so long that he was starting to get too used to this situation. He didn't want to go to school ever again.

After all, he had everything he ever wanted right now. He had the money to never work a single day in his life, he had four trusted employees who owed their lives to him and would do anything for him, and he was getting stronger without even doing anything.

However, he knew that it wasn't that simple. The system would have freaked out if Patty suddenly dropped out of school.

Just as he thought that, the system came up with another mission that Patty was disinclined to do. For some reason, even though it was a powerful mystical object from the energies of the universe itself, it had some sort of obsession with school and learning.

Today was supposed to be the Physicality Tests for everyone. This was the test where everyone's physical stats were measured through various sports such as track and field, swimming, weight lifting, and such.

Patty was supposed to join them today, but thanks to his bet with the professor, he was able to avoid that tiresome event. It was a miracle that Grammo was able to pull his singing talent out of nowhere and make them win the bet. Thanks to that, Patty had an automatic 100 on his scores on the exam.

That's the reason why he didn't have to go to school today. He already had a perfect score. Going to school now would be useless because there were no lectures, no projects, and no incessant ramblings from the professor. Everyone was either out in the fields or in the gyms.

And since Patty knew this, the system must also know it. Hence, Patty's confusion about why the system wanted Patty to go to school.

KNOCK KNOCK

"Good morning, sir. I'm here to report to you that we are going to school to prepare for the physicality tests."

Andres opened the door and greeted Patty. Behind him were the three other interns and they were all wearing their P.E. uniforms complete with paddings and armor.

After they bought all the abandoned buildings beside Patty's house, the four of them quickly built a place for themselves to sleep in. For now, they only had a bed and an outlet. They didn't have any furniture or anything yet, but they were planning on purchasing more necessities down the line, like refrigerators and air conditioners.

"Cool. Good luck, man." Patty casually waved them off.

Andres and the three interns bowed to Patty and quickly left for school. It was only a two-minute walk to school, so they decided to just walk there. The place's proximity to the school was also one of the reasons why they decided to move into the abandoned buildings, or as it would be known later, the Aezure Company Headquarters.

"Ahhhh…it feels good to see people working hard while I just lay in my bed."

Patty's mood was so good that he decided to have another summoning binge! Last night, he barely did anything thanks to his loyal little minio–friends. So, he was able to preserve at least 190 Energy yesterday, which meant that he was able to purchase a lot of summon scrolls.

The price for a summon scroll was usually 10 Energy for 1 scroll, but thanks to his Interdimensional Merchant, he was able to have a 17.5% discount.

All in all, he spent 189.75 Energy for 23 whole summon scrolls! Patty navigated through the system and looked at his inventory.

He now had 68 Summon Scrolls to go through. And since he had so much right now, he didn't hesitate to push the 10x summon button. Patty looked on with excitement as he saw the bright stars merge to the top and finally burst down towards Patty.

However, there was something a little bit different this time. Usually, the 10 summons that he'd summon would be a myriad of colors ranging from the primary colors and a couple of gray ones. The brighter the star, the rarer summon he would get. And if he saw little sparkles or shimmering effects on the star, then it was guaranteed that it would be at least an A-class summon.

He'd been lucky a lot of times, almost getting an A-class minion every 10x summon. He thought that this streak of luck would continue. He was proved wrong.

"WHAT THE FUCK!" screamed Patty. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. It must have been a bug, right? How could he only summon 10 F-class Basic Elements in a row?! He didn't even summon a single D-class minion! What were the chances that this would happen?

[You have earned 10,000 Minion Growth Crystals]

The MGCs were a nice consolation prize, but Patty felt completely cheated. He worked hard for those 10x summon scrolls. He had to wait an entire day doing nothing! And now, the system would only reward him with 10 F-class summons?! It was an injustice that he couldn't stand.

"What happened?!" Patty believed that this must be a mistake, a one-time thing.

On second thought, maybe this was a good thing. It was like he dumped all of his bad luck on this one summon binge. This meant that all his next summons would have really good odds, maybe even netting him two A-class minions at the same time. Maybe he could even get an S-class summon!

His gambler's blood burned wild as he immediately pushed the summon button once again. This time, the sides of fate would turn towards him. It was only natural that he would be rewarded with good summons after that batch, right?

However, as soon as the giant ball of white light exploded into a million stars and spurt out 10 summons for Patty…

Patty's face turned ashen white, imitating the colors of the ten stars on the system screen. They were all the color of a dim gray star, the same thing he saw earlier.

"No…it can't be…"

Patty lay on his bed, completely disheartened. How could he be so unlucky? This was beyond misfortune, this was disastrous, apocalyptic, levels of an ill fate.

It didn't make sense. The probability that he'd get 20 summons all at the F-class Basic Element rank was almost the same probability as Patty getting two S-class summons. How come he didn't get even a single S-class before he got this outcome?

Patty was tempted to test his unluckiness by spending all of his Summon Scrolls until his streak of luck ended. There was no way that he would get unlucky three times in a row, five times, ten times in a row, right?

However, he stopped himself. He reminded himself that the Summoning Ritual wasn't a normal gacha game governed by a fixed probability and an unbiased computer. No. This whole thing was controlled by the system itself.

If it could give Patty an SSS-class skill without any cost, then it could certainly change the chances for the Summoning Ritual.

The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. The only way he'd be that unlucky was if someone intended him to be unlucky. And who else would be that sadistic? It was none other than the system itself!

But why, Patty asked himself. The system had never done this sort of stunt before. And if he was being completely honest, the system was probably making things easier for Patty by giving him minions that were useful to his current situation. So, why did it suddenly change now?

Then he remembered. There was only one reason and one reason only why the system was doing this. Patty wasn't doing what the system wanted. And what was that thing? It probably had something to do with its obsession with going to school!

Patty sighed in disappointment. Why was the system so insistent on going to school?

"You…" Patty muttered to the system. "How could you? Just when I thought we were starting to get along with each other."

Just as he said that, the system gave him another mission.
