Chapter 73 - Once upon a time…

Once upon a time, there was a high tower up in the skies. This tower was built so high up in the air that even the highest of mountains cannot look up at it. Even clouds dare not touch the tower. Even stars, in their highest place in the cosmos, have to look up to see just a glimpse of the tower.

The tower was made of old clay bricks, with a cone ceiling piercing through the top. There was moss growing through the gaps of the bricks and even an occasional flower that buds in between. Despite being made of seemingly normal bricks, this tower did not sway even in the strongest of storms. It did not crumble under the deepest of earthquakes. Even time itself did not dare intrude upon it and deteriorate its beauty.

There were no doors on the top of the tower, only a gap from a missing brick served as a window to see the outside world. It was so small that not even a fist could pass through. Despite that, it showed a glimpse of the vastness of the universe and all its wonders, with the variety of life and creation that spawned from chaos and nothingness. But it only showed a glimpse, nothing more.

The only beings who lived near this tower were eternal dragons with strength unimaginable. They were beings who were as old as the eternal galaxies deep in the universe. They witnessed everything there was to see, they lived all the lifetimes that were possible, and they created everything that was there to be created.

And their only job was to make sure that no one escaped the tower.

There was once a girl who was made to stay in the tower for all of eternity. From the moment she was born to the moment the universe ended, it was decided that she would be stuck in the cage built for her high up in the air. She saw no one, talked to no one, and related to no one. The only thing she could do was look down on the small window and dream of the life she could have in the universe below.

Each day, she looked down and wished for someone to rescue her. She wanted a prince so charming that he would slay all the dragons around her and free her from this nightmare they called home. But each day, her hope dwindled. No one dared to brave the danger, no one took on the challenge of a lifetime. The worst part was when she realized that no one even noticed her.

One day, she couldn't help her loneliness and asked the ancient dragons around her. "Why am I stuck here?"

The dragons, instructed to not speak a word to her, ignored her pleas. They instead slept on their piles of treasure and let eons pass by. But the girl didn't give up. Each day, she would pester the dragons to answer her questions. She didn't stop day or night, eons or eternity. She kept talking to the dragons and questioning them about everything they knew.

At first, they wouldn't even give her an answer. They ignored her. But then, silence turned into 'no' and 'never'. And as time passed by, those changed to 'I shouldn't' and 'I mustn't'. It took a longer time after that for the girl to finally converse with the dragons.

"Why can't I go down there," she asked.

"Because you are a princess," a dragon answered.

"Why am I a princess?"

"A princess is a princess."

The princess twirled her long black hair. "Why can't princesses be free?"

The dragon answered, "It's because your beauty transcends everything. Your presence will destroy everything in the universe, leaving only chaos and nothingness."

"But what if I don't?"

"It is your fate, princess–your destiny. If you escape out of your tower, you will cause destruction and mayhem."

"What if a hero rescues me and breaks me out of my tower?"

The dragon took a deep breath. "There is no hero, princess. It is your imagination."

"But don't princesses have their prince charming?" she asked.

The dragon answered, "You are no mere princess. You are the princesses of princesses. No one in this universe is worthy of you. No prince will be able to handle your power for they cannot handle the immensity of your presence. That is the reason why you are stuck here for all eternity, princess."

The dragon thought the princess would be discouraged after that. But a day later, she pestered the dragon again with a question.

"But what if there was a prince for me? What if, he too, is a prince of all princes?"

The dragon sighed. "Impossible, princess. There is no one like that."

"But didn't you say that there are many beings out there that can make the impossible possible?"

"Yes. But even they are not worthy of you, princess. They can only make themselves break the impossibility."

The princess peeked through the gap in the bricks. "What do you mean?"

"If there was someone worthy of you, then they should not only make the impossible possible, but they must also make the impossible possible for others as well."

At first, the princess didn't understand. How could someone make the impossible possible for others? It didn't make sense.

The princess thought she wouldn't be able to understand the dragon's words, but when she looked at Grammo and saw the impossible change that was happening inside him, she caught a glimpse of it.

Grammo was never supposed to become extraordinary. He was supposed to stay mediocre. The Teqx in his body should have made his soul attuned to the Power fabric of the universe. That was the only thing he should be able to access.

But she saw something different. She saw the Fame fabric try to worm itself into his aura. It was slowly changing, with Fame eating and conquering the Power and changing Grammo's fate entirely. But that wasn't the impossible part. The princess knew that countless people were transitioning from one route to another, but the difference was that they were already at the top of their fields. They had the power to change the impossible.

Grammo didn't have that. He wasn't powerful enough to change the impossible into possible. He didn't have the power to make the change. Despite that, he changed.

How come this happened? There was only one reason that the princess could think of, and that was Patty.

The princess looked up at Patty, with his lazy and triumphant smile. He was able to outsmart her and led her to give him so many more rewards than he should be getting. She hated the fact that she merged with such a lazy guy. At first, she thought that she was the unluckiest princess ever. She landed on the worst guy she could have landed on.

'Did I escape the tower just to end up with him,' she asked herself.

But then, as she saw how Patty lived, she slowly found that he wasn't all that bad. He might be a lazy bum, but he had this intrinsic quality about him that was hard to hate. Slowly, she learned to cooperate with Patty, giving him help when he needed it. She learned that, like her, she hated bullies like Griff and they found common ground with that.

For some reason, there was this magnetic quality about Patty that made him so much more interesting than other people. She finally understood the reason why he still had friends like Sam and Grammo despite being a lazy friend.

And it was exactly because of Patty's invisible quality that Grammo was able to become an extraordinary talent. He was the reason why Grammo transcended his fate just like that. He was the reason why Grammo made the impossible into something possible.

Somehow, Patty influenced his 'lazy' into Grammo. Grammo stopped thinking about his limitations and just 'sang' until he evolved into this new genius that helped him walk one step even closer to his dream.

Patty made the impossible become possible for others.

Could it be? Was Patty the prince she was looking for all those times? Was he the prince of all princes who could handle all of her power?

No, the princess denied. There was no way that Patty was the prince she was looking for. After all, he was a lazy guy! His ultimate dream was to become lazy, the complete opposite of what she wanted.

She wanted someone who had the dream of achieving everything there was to achieve and having the power to change the whole universe. That was not Patty! Instead of changing the universe, Patty would rather stay in bed and watch his favorite shows. He was not her prince.

But for now, she was stuck with Patty. She still needed him to become strong enough to fight her pursuers. The good thing about Patty being lazy was that he didn't stand out too much. If nobody found out she was with him, then they could spend a long time hiding and gaining enough strength to fight her pursuers.

Even now, she had to make sure that Patty didn't leak out the waves he was making in the Power, Money, and Fame fabrics of the universe.
