Chapter 4 - First Day at Reign Academy

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The piercing sound of an alarm clock jolted Aria awake. Surprisingly, he found himself sitting up before Ski even had the chance to drag him out of bed.

Aria smirked at the clock. "For once, I'm actually waking up early."

Still groggy but determined, Aria got up and began preparing for the day. He slipped on his neatly pressed Reign Academy uniform. Though the design was sleek and modern, it felt alien to him.

"No matter how many times I wear this thing, I'm never going to get used to it," he muttered under his breath.

Before he could grumble further, the door creaked open, revealing Ski, brimming with excitement.

"Time to get up—" Ski's cheerful voice cut off mid-sentence as her eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, you're already awake?! And dressed?!"

Aria raised an eyebrow at her. "Yeah. Hi, Ski."

Ski placed her hands on her hips, her face lighting up with pride. "I'm so proud of you! This is a historic moment—Aria, waking up early!"

"Geez, you're overreacting," Aria grumbled, rolling his eyes.

"Still, there's a slight problem," Ski said, a mischievous smile forming.

"What now?" Aria asked, worry creeping into his voice.

"Your hair."

"What's wrong with my hair? It's fine the way it is!" he protested.

"It's not fine—it's adequate. But don't worry; I've called for backup." Ski pulled out her phone and dialled.

"Wait, what do you mean backup—?"

Too late. Moments later, Alice and Alexis arrived with Roy in tow. Each carried a bag stuffed with hair supplies, their faces brimming with determination.

"Don't worry, Aria," Alexis declared confidently. "We're going to make your hair even more perfect than it already is!"

Alice chimed in with a serene smile. "Trust us. This is for your own good."

Aria tried to object. "But my hair is already—"

"Shh," Alexis interrupted, gently pushing him into a chair. "Let the professionals handle this."

Resigned to his fate, Aria sat still as the duo worked their magic. Alice combed through his long, silky locks, while Alexis added her own flair, styling with a precision that bordered on artistry.

""Your hair is… really soft. And so long!," Alice murmured, genuinely impressed.

"Right? It'd be a crime not to style it!" Alexis said, her tone gleeful, grinning as she pulled out a variety of tools. "Hair like this deserves to shine."

"But my hair is fine the way it is ," Aria muttered, attempting one last protest.

Alexis shook her head, waving a curling wand in the air. "No way. Hair this good deserves to stand out. It's not just long—it's perfect for making a statement."

Alice nodded in agreement, her movements deft yet careful. "And with hair this soft, styling it feels like working with silk. It'd be a waste not to make it even better."

Aria sighed, defeated, as the two worked with meticulous precision. Though he dreaded the outcome, he couldn't deny that their hands were surprisingly gentle.

Fifteen minutes later, the two stepped back, admiring their handiwork.

"Now this is worthy of Reign Academy," Ski said with a proud smile.

Roy smirked. "Thought you were perfect before, but I guess even perfection can be upgraded."

Aria glanced in the mirror Ski handed him. His previously untamed hair now fell in elegant, flowing waves, framing his face like a work of art.

"…I actually like it," he admitted, though his cheeks flushed pink.

"At least my hair is still long" Aria thought to himself

Alice and Alexis exchanged a triumphant high-five.

Alexis grinned. "With this look, you'll make the best first impression ever. Everyone will remember you as the gorgeous star of Reign Academy!"

Aria groaned. "I'd rather not be noticed at all…"

Roy chuckled. "Not happening, dude. Not with that face."

Arriving at Reign Academy

The four left the house and boarded a sleek, futuristic bus. Its smooth ride and glowing interior hinted at the technological advancements that awaited them at the academy.

When they stepped off at the gates of Reign Academy, awe struck them. The massive campus was a blend of modern and fantastical architecture, with soaring towers and pristine gardens. Students bustled around, their chatter filling the air.

"So, this is it," Roy said, a mix of excitement and disbelief in his voice.

"One of the most famous schools in the world," Alice murmured, taking it all in.

"I can't wait to see what's inside," Alexis added, her eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Aria, however, shifted uncomfortably. He could feel countless eyes on him.

"They're staring at us… especially me," he thought with a grimace.

Snatches of whispered conversations reached his ears:

"Is that Roy, Alice, and Alexis? They're already famous!"

"But look at her! She's so beautiful, it's unreal!"

"That's Aria! I heard she got first place in the entrance exams without even using her full power!"

"She's not just pretty—she's insanely powerful!"

Alexis shot Aria a smug grin. "Told you they'd notice your 'divine beauty.'"

Aria sighed, hiding his face behind his hand. "Why is this happening to me?"

The four of them arrived at their classroom, their eyes widening as they stepped inside. The room was massive—larger than they could've imagined—filled with vibrant colours, sleek technology, and a lively hum of chatter as students settled into their seats.

Aria scanned the room, taking in the light streaming through the tall windows and the rows of desks arranged in an arc. Before he could take it all in, a familiar voice cut through the noise.

"Well, well, if it isn't Aria," Lucas said with a smirk, leaning casually against the doorframe.

Aria groaned, rubbing his temples. "Not this again. Lucas, it's way too early for your nonsense."

Lucas stepped forward, his grin widening. "What's that supposed to mean, huh? Why you—"

The air suddenly turned icy, a cold chill sweeping through the room as a sharp, commanding voice interrupted.

"Are you deaf? She told you to leave."

The voice was unrecognizable, but its power was unmistakable. Heads turned as a boy and girl stepped into view. Their presence was magnetic, their calm demeanour starkly contrasting with Lucas's bravado.

"When did it get this cold?" Lucas asked, spinning around. "Show yourself!"

The girl stepped forward first, her expression confident but polite. "Certainly. My name is Emma," she said smoothly, her golden eyes glinting in the light.

Emma had long, wavy auburn hair that cascaded down her back, with icy blue streaks running through it like veins of frost. Her piercing blue eyes shimmered with a sharp intelligence, and her tall, athletic build exuded confidence. She wore a sleek white and gold uniform that highlighted her refined demeanour, her voice carrying a cool authority.

"And I'm her twin brother, Ethen," the boy added, his smirk almost daring Lucas to make a move.

Ethen shared Emma's striking blue eyes, though his hair was a darker auburn, almost mahogany, with the same icy blue highlights at the tips. His features were sharp and angular, giving him a more intimidating presence. His lean but powerful frame was dressed in a the same white and gold uniform as all the others . His tone carried a playful menace, making it clear he wasn't someone to trifle with.

"Now, why don't you step aside before you turn into an ice sculpture?" Ethen said, his smirk widening.

The threat hung in the air, clear and unmistakable. Lucas hesitated for a moment before retreating with a muttered grumble.

Once Lucas was gone, Aria turned to the twins. "Thanks for the help," he said, trying to sound composed.

Emma waved it off with a small smile. "No problem."

"Oh, right. I haven't introduced myself yet," Aria began, only to be cut off.

Ethen smirked knowingly. "There's no need. We already know who you are."

Aria blinked in surprise. "How do you know my name?"

Emma chuckled softly. "It's simple. You've become the talk of the school. First place in the entrance exam, and everyone's heard the rumours about your power."

Aria groaned internally. "Great, more attention. Just what I didn't want".

The group made their way to their seats, the buzz of conversation around them fading as the first teacher of the day entered the room.

Roy leaned over to Alice. "Who do you think our teacher will be?" he whispered.

Alice shrugged. "I don't know, but it's probably someone powerful."

Alexis crossed her arms, her voice filled with confidence. "Of course. This is Reign Academy. Only the best of the best teach here."

Aria leaned back in his chair, sighing. "I just hope it's someone… normal," he muttered.

As if on cue, a man with an imposing presence stepped into the classroom. His movements were calm, but his presence commanded attention.

"Good morning, class," he began with a faint smile. "I'm Maxwell, your homeroom teacher for the year."

Maxwell glanced around the room, his sharp eyes meeting each student's. "Some of you may know me, but for those who don't, I'll introduce myself properly. I am Maxwell, one of the senior instructors here at Reign Academy."

Aria's thoughts darkened. "Well, not all of us had powers before", he thought bitterly, his annoyance creeping in.

Maxwell continued, his tone growing enthusiastic. "Now, for your first lesson, let's address the most important question: why are you here?"

The class fell silent, all eyes fixed on him.

"As you know, we live in a world where nearly everyone has some form of power. Whether it's innate or developed, power shapes our lives. Here at Reign Academy, your role is to learn how to protect this world from those who misuse their abilities."

Emma raised her hand. "How do we know how strong we are?"

Maxwell's face lit up. "Excellent question!" He gestured to the board, which lit up with a holographic display. "We use a tier system to measure power levels. It helps us assess your abilities and categorize threats."

Aria shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "I swear I've seen something like this in an anime before, he thought, his annoyance rising".

Maxwell began to explain, his voice clear and confident.

"Tier 1: Novice. This is where most of you are right now. Novices have untapped potential and are still in training.

"Tier 2: Rising Talent. These individuals have begun to tap into their potential and can handle small-scale threats—think street-level to small city-level dangers."

"Tier 3: Advanced Specialist. These are combatants with considerable skill. They can handle city-level+ threats and are often team leaders.

""Tier 4: Constellation. This is the highest rank. Constellations are national-level protectors with mastery over multiple abilities. They're powerful enough to take on armies single-handedly. Only seven people currently hold this title."

The students murmured among themselves, impressed and intimidated.

Maxwell's smirk widened. "And here's the surprise—one of those Constellations will be your teacher this year."

The classroom erupted into chatter, excitement, and nervousness rippling through the air.

Maxwell clapped his hands. "Quiet down, class. Let me introduce her."

The door opened, and a figure stepped in, her presence radiating authority. Her white and gold outfit gleamed in the light, the badge on her chest signifying her rank.

"Hello, class. I'll be your instructor this year," she said, her tone calm and composed.

Aria's eyes widened in shock. "SKI?!" he shouted, his voice filled with disbelief.

Ski glanced at him with a small smile. "Hello, Aria. We'll talk later."

Aria slumped in his seat, groaning internally. "I'm doomed."

Emma's eyes widened in shock. "Wait, how do you know Ski?!" she asked, her voice filled with surprise.

Aria scratched the back of his head, looking a little nervous. "Well… she's my older sister," he admitted, his tone carrying a mix of worry and unease.

Ethen's face lit up with a grin. "To think you're related to Ski—that's amazing!" he said enthusiastically.

Aria sighed internally. "I just know he and Roy are going to hit it off."

Before Aria could reply, he glanced around the room. "Anyway, why is everyone so shocked about Ski being a teacher?"

Emma blinked, her surprise shifting to disbelief. "You seriously don't know?"

"Nope," Aria replied, shaking his head vigorously.

Emma crossed her arms and leaned forward slightly, her voice taking on an explanatory tone. "Alright, let me enlighten you. Your sister, Ski, is one of the seven people in the world who hold the title of Constellation. That title alone gives her nationwide influence. Constellations have so much power that nobody truly knows their limits. It's even said that if they ever fought seriously, the world could be destroyed—or worse."

Aria's face paled slightly as he processed her words. "I knew my sister was a monster, but to be this strong? That's absurd, he thought, a shiver running down his spine".

Emma tilted her head, watching his reaction. "Wait, you actually didn't know? I thought you were joking!" she said, half-laughing.

Before Aria could respond, Emma's expression softened into admiration. "Anyway, like my brother said, you're not only strong and beautiful but also related to Ski. You're nothing short of extraordinary. Saying anything less would be an insult to you."

Aria groaned internally. Great. Just what I needed—more people feeding into the hype. His thoughts drifted to Alexis and Alice. I have a feeling she's going to get along with them way too well.

Emma extended her hand with a bright smile. "I hope we can become good friends."

Ethen nodded in agreement. "Same here. I think all of us could make a great group."

Aria hesitated for a moment before managing a small smile. "Sure," he replied, his tone carrying a mix of worry and reluctant happiness.

Some time later, Ski stood at the front of the classroom, her calm and commanding presence silencing the chatter. She placed her hands on her hips and scanned the room before speaking.

"For your first class with me," Ski began, "you'll be fighting each other."

The entire room fell silent, her words echoing in the stunned air.

Ski smirked at their reactions. "What I mean is that you'll be paired up to spar with one another. I'll use these matches to assess your strengths and weaknesses."

Her smirk softened into a confident grin as she gave them a thumbs-up. "So, give it your all."

The class entered the holographic field, which transformed into a perfect replica of the school's state-of-the-art training center.

Lucas raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms. "What's the point of using the holographic field if we're just simulating the school?"

Maxwell adjusted his glasses with a smirk. "Because this way, you can unleash your full power without worrying about destroying the real school."

Alexis turned to Ski with a curious look. "Ski, just how big is this field we're in?"

Ski's expression remained calm but carried a hint of pride. "That's easy. It's as big as the universe," she said, her tone both serious and cheerful.

The room fell into stunned silence.

Aria blinked in disbelief. How much did this cost the school? And just how rich are they?! he thought, his worry mounting.

Alexis broke the silence with a confident grin. "I'd expect nothing less from Reign Academy," she said proudly.

Alice nodded in agreement, her expression serene. "I agree. Only the best for this school."

Roy, however, could barely contain his excitement. "I can't wait to wreck it!" he exclaimed joyfully.

Ski clapped her hands, drawing everyone's attention back to her. "Alright, enough chatter. Here's what you're going to do: a series of one-on-one matches. Winning or losing doesn't matter; we're here to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses," she explained, her tone sharp but enthusiastic.

She gestured to the field around them. "And like Maxwell said, everything here is a hologram. That means you can go all out without holding back."

Maxwell stepped forward, scanning the group. "First up: Roy versus Ethen."

The announcement caused a stir of excitement.

"Good luck," Alexis said with a warm smile.

Alice smirked, tilting her head slightly. "Try not to embarrass yourself," she teased, her tone calm but playful.

Roy grinned at her comment. "I won't embarrass myself," he replied confidently, practically bouncing with energy.

Aria gave a small nod of encouragement. "You've got this," he said simply.

Roy stepped forward, his fiery enthusiasm lighting up his face. "So, you're Ethen, huh?"

Ethen exhaled, a mix of nerves and determination in his expression. "Can't believe I'm fighting Roy—the strongest kid in our age group," he said with admiration.

Roy laughed. "Thanks for that!"

Ethen glanced at Aria, a thought crossing his mind. "To think Aria knows you, Alexis, and Alice... She's beyond incredible," he said with genuine awe.

Aria groaned inwardly. Geez... I'm standing right here, you know. At least treat me like a normal human, he thought sarcastically.

Ski's voice cut through the moment. "Alright, begin the fight!"

Ethen wasted no time, summoning ice to form intricate gauntlets around his hands. "At least I don't have to hold back," he said with a determined smile.

Roy's eyes lit up with excitement. "Same here!"

The two charged at each other, their fists colliding with immense force.

BOOM!

The impact created a massive shockwave that rippled across the field. The simulated school buildings trembled and began to collapse, only to repair themselves instantly.

Roy grinned, clearly impressed. "To think you're this strong already."

Ethen smirked back, his ice gauntlets glowing faintly. "I've been training."

Roy's fists ignited with energy. "Same here."

The two opponents prepared to clash again, their power radiating through the field as the fight intensified.

Roy walked back to the group with a triumphant grin. "I did it!" he exclaimed happily.

But his celebration was cut short when Alice gave him a serious, disapproving look.

"Seriously?" Alice said, her tone calm but tinged with annoyance.

Roy tilted his head, confused. "What did I do?"

Alice crossed her arms. "It's not 'what did you do,' it's more of 'what didn't you do,'" she replied with an exasperated tone, gesturing toward Ethen, who was still getting up off the ground.

Roy glanced at Ethen and shrugged. "See? He's fine."

Alice sighed, her calm but firm demeanor unwavering. "At least check on him," she insisted.

Roy hesitated for a moment, then walked over to Ethen. "Hey, you okay?"

Ethen grinned as he dusted himself off. "I'm fine. In fact, I feel great! Fighting you was amazing."

Roy smiled and extended a hand, helping Ethen to his feet. Together, they walked back to the group.

Roy turned to Alice with a smug grin. "See? Told you he'd be fine."

Alice simply rolled her eyes, her usual calm expression returning.

Once they rejoined the others, Ethen introduced himself to Alice and Alexis, and the first match officially concluded.

Maxwell stepped forward, his voice cutting through the chatter. "Next up: Alexis versus Emma."

Ethen turned to Alexis with a mix of worry and excitement. "You're up against my older sister. Let's just say... she's stronger than me," he admitted, his tone laced with slight concern.

Alexis smirked confidently. "That won't matter. I'll win quickly," she declared, her voice brimming with pride.

The second round was set: Alexis vs. Emma.

Emma stepped forward, her expression calm but proud. "To think I'll be fighting against the Alexis," she said with quiet confidence.

Alexis grinned, practically vibrating with energy. "I've heard you're strong too," she replied enthusiastically.

Emma glanced at Aria with a warm smile. "Like my brother said, to think Aria knows not just you, but also Alice and Roy... Aria surpasses my expectations time and time again."

Alexis nodded in agreement. "I know, right? That's just how Aria is—always surprising you one way or another."

Aria groaned, his face turning slightly red. "I can still hear you, you know," he muttered, his tone tinged with sarcastic annoyance.

Alice joined the conversation with her usual calm demeanor. "It's true, Aria. But you really should take more pride in yourself," she added, her voice warm and encouraging.

Alexis clapped her hands together, refocusing on Emma. "Hope you're ready!"

Without warning, Alexis unleashed a beam of pure light, aimed straight at Emma. But Emma nimbly dodged, her movements quick and fluid.

Alexis grinned. "You're fast."

"Thanks," Emma replied with a proud tone. "Now it's my turn."

She conjured a barrage of elegant ice swords, sending them flying toward Alexis, who darted around them effortlessly.

Emma smiled. "As expected from you."

"Thanks," Alexis replied, her voice loud and cheerful. "But I must say, you're powerful yourself."

Alexis raised her hand, materializing a glowing sword of pure light.

Emma responded with equal elegance, summoning her own blade made of pure ice.

The two clashed, their blades sparking as they collided repeatedly, neither giving an inch.

Emma took a step back, a mischievous grin on her face. "Let's finish this with a big attack, shall we?"

Alexis mirrored her excitement. "I couldn't agree more!"

Both fighters poured their energy into their weapons, their swords growing larger and brighter. With a final, synchronized charge, they swung their blades at each other.

BOOM!

The impact created a massive explosion that obliterated the surrounding holographic landscape. When the dust settled, Alexis was on the ground, just outside the arena's boundary.

Emma sheathed her ice sword, brushing off her hands. "I've won," she said with a satisfied smile.

She walked over to Alexis and extended a hand.

Alexis took it, smiling warmly. "Thanks."

"You're welcome," Emma replied.

As they returned to the group, Emma introduced herself to Alice and Roy.

Emma turned to Aria with a thoughtful expression. "Aria, you're beyond incredible. You're Ski's younger sister, and you're best friends with Alexis and Roy. That's amazing!"

Aria scratched the back of his head, laughing nervously. "About that sister part... I'm actually a boy."

Emma and Ethen froze, their faces filled with confusion.

Sometime later, after Aria explained everything, Emma nodded thoughtfully. "Okay? What do you want me to do about that? It doesn't make you any less incredible. It changes nothing about who you are," she said firmly.

Ethen chimed in with a smile. "I agree."

Alexis added with her usual cheerful energy, "Even I said something similar before."

Emma placed a reassuring hand on Aria's shoulder. "Don't worry. I won't treat you any differently. If anything, I think you're even more extraordinary than before."

Maxwell stepped forward again, clearing his throat. "For the third match: Lucas versus Maria."

Emma turned to the group with curiosity. "What do you guys know about Lucas?"

Aria leaned back, arms crossed. "He has the power of gravity."

Alice sighed, her tone calm but slightly annoyed. "And he's annoying."

Emma chuckled. "Alright. What about Maria? Do any of you know anything about her?"

Alexis shook her head. "I have no idea."

Roy shrugged. "Neither do I."

Emma tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Well, I've heard one thing—she was in the top five during the entrance test."

Aria's eyes widened. "She's that strong?"

Alexis rolled her eyes playfully. "Why are you so surprised? You got first place," she said, her voice brimming with pride and energy.

With that, match three began.

Maria and Lucas stepped into the arena. Maria was a lively girl with gray hair streaked with blonde highlights, bright light-blue eyes, and a confident energy that radiated from her. Standing at 5'8", she looked ready for action.

Lucas eyed her dismissively. "Is this some kind of joke? Why am I fighting someone who looks so weak?"

From the side-lines, Alice sighed with an unamused expression. "He really shouldn't be saying that, especially after Aria humiliated him at school last time," she said in a serious tone.

Maria tilted her head with a wide grin. "So you're Lucas! You're way bigger than I thought," she said, practically bouncing with energy.

Lucas frowned, visibly annoyed but still exuding his usual pride. "Yeah, and my power is controlling gravity," he said with a boastful tone.

Maria's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Wow, that sounds cool! Want to see mine?"

Dark gray clouds suddenly gathered above the arena, and a crack of lightning illuminated the area.

Maria smirked. "I control storms!"

Lucas scoffed, unimpressed. "Whatever." He charged at her, fists glowing with gravitational force as he lunged forward with full strength.

Maria watched him with fascination. "Wow, that looks strong!" she exclaimed before dodging effortlessly at the last second.

Lucas stumbled as he missed, his expression shifting to shock. "Huh? What the—?"

Maria grinned mischievously, summoning a swirling tornado that picked Lucas up and spun him wildly in the air.

"Ugh, I think I'm gonna be sick!" Lucas groaned, his voice barely audible over the storm's roar.

Before he could recover, Maria summoned a bolt of lightning that struck him midair, sending him flying out of the arena.

Lucas lay on the ground outside the boundary, still slightly electrified. "You're strong…" he admitted weakly.

Maria jogged over and gave him a cheerful thumbs-up. "Thanks! You were amazing too!"

Back with the group, Alexis smirked. "All that talk, and he got defeated that easily."

Emma nodded with a small chuckle. "So he's all bark and no bite."

Alice shrugged nonchalantly. "I'm not surprised."

Roy laughed. "That's Lucas for you—always been like that."

Aria watched Maria with an impressed look. "Maria's seriously strong."

Ethen chimed in. "Well, she is in the top five for a reason."

Maxwell stepped forward. "Next match: Alice versus Kai!"

Aria cheered, "You got this, Alice!" his voice full of encouragement.

Alexis grinned. "Don't hold back!"

Alice gave a small nod, her expression calm. "Thanks. I'll make this quick," she replied in her usual composed tone, stepping into the arena.

Kai followed her, stretching his arms. He stood at 5'9", with tousled brown hair and dark brown eyes that appeared tired yet sparkled with a lively energy.

"So, you're the famous Alice," Kai said with a smirk. "I've heard a lot about you."

"Thanks," Alice replied, her voice calm and tinged with pride.

Kai cracked his knuckles. "Let's get started, then!"

With a wave of his hand, Kai summoned an army of stone warriors. The massive constructs rose from the ground, their solid forms casting long shadows in the arena.

Alice observed them with a serene expression. "So, your power is earth manipulation. Interesting."

Kai grinned. "Enough talk! Attack!"

The stone warriors charged toward Alice, their heavy footsteps shaking the ground.

Alice raised her hand, and with a wave, a blazing heat enveloped the arena. The stone warriors began to melt into pools of molten rock, disappearing before they could even reach her.

Kai stared, wide-eyed. "I knew you were strong, but this is insane!" he said, his voice a mix of exhaustion and awe.

Alice gave a small smile. "Why, thank you," she replied with an elegant tone.

Determined, Kai redoubled his efforts, summoning a barrage of earthen weapons—cannons, swords, and arrows—all flying toward Alice.

Alice stood her ground, the projectiles disintegrating in the intense heat she emitted. She raised an eyebrow, her tone slightly bored. "Are you done?"

Kai hesitated, sweat dripping down his face. "Not yet!" he shouted, creating a massive stone shield in front of him.

Alice smirked slightly and increased her power output, the air around her shimmering with intense heat. "That won't stop me," she said, her voice confident.

She formed a blazing fist of fire and lunged forward, punching through the stone shield as if it were paper. The force sent Kai flying across the arena.

The match was over. Alice walked toward Kai calmly. "Kai, are you alright?" she asked, extending her hand to help him up.

Kai coughed, smiling weakly. "Thanks. That was incredible," he said, accepting her help.

Alice helped him to his feet and escorted him back to the group.

As she approached, she gave a small smile. "See? I told you I'd make it quick."

Roy laughed. "I expected nothing less from you, Alice."

Alice, her serene expression unchanged. "Shall we move on to the next match?

Ethen: "Do you know anything about these two?"

Aria: "Not really."

Roy: "So it's gonna be a completely unpredictable fight."

Zane and Amy stepped into the arena, each exuding a calm and focused energy.

Zane is 6'2", with jet-black hair styled into a messy undercut and piercing emerald green eyes. His lean yet muscular build complements his composed, calculated, and slightly cocky demeanor.

Amy stands at 5'6", with flowing silver hair and radiant lavender eyes. She carries herself with a reserved elegance but radiates competitive determination and an unshakable sense of honor.

The Match Begins

Zane smirked. "So, you must be Amy." His tone was calm, yet laced with confidence.

Amy bowed slightly. "And you must be Zane. It's a pleasure to face you." Her voice was soft but steady.

Without warning, Zane lunged forward, his body shimmering as he transformed his arm into a metal blade, striking at Amy with precision.

Zane: "What do you think of that?" he asked, a cocky glint in his eyes.

Amy gracefully sidestepped, her expression calm. "Impressive... but not enough."

She clapped her hands together, generating a high-pitched sonic screech that reverberated across the arena.

SCREECH!

The sound waves rippled through the air, causing cracks to form on Zane's metal skin.

Zane staggered slightly but smirked as his body shimmered again, repairing itself. "Sound-based powers, huh? Not bad."

His arm morphed into a massive metallic shield as he charged forward, using his shield to absorb the next sonic wave. Amy responded by punching the air, generating a powerful sound burst that sent Zane sliding back.

Amy: "You're strong, but let's see how you handle this."

She clapped her hands, creating a series of sharp sound blades that sliced through the air toward Zane. He dodged nimbly, transforming his other arm into a long, metallic whip to counterattack. The whip lashed out, aiming for Amy, but she leapt gracefully into the air, spinning to create a soundwave barrier that deflected the attack.

The Final Clash

Zane grinned. "You're better than I expected. But let's end this, shall we?"

Amy nodded, her eyes focused. "Agreed."

Zane transformed both arms into enormous metal gauntlets, slamming them into the ground and causing metal spikes to erupt from the arena floor. Amy countered by releasing a massive sonic boom, shattering the spikes and sending Zane flying backward.

BOOM!

The arena trembled as dust and debris settled. Zane struggled to his feet, laughing lightly. "You've got me. I can't keep up with that."

Amy approached and extended a hand to help him up. "You're incredibly strong. I look forward to facing you again."

Zane took her hand, nodding with respect. "Same to you. That was... humbling."

The two returned to the group, earning cheers and applause from their classmates.

Roy: "Man, Amy's power is insane."

Ethen: "Zane held his own, though. That was one intense fight."

Alice: "I'm not surprised by either of them. They're both top-tier competitors."

Maxwell: "Next match: Sora versus Leo! Let's keep the energy up!

Emma "Another random match, huh?"

Sora and Leo entered the arena, their contrasting personalities immediately on display.

Sora was a 5'7" boy with spiky white hair streaked with blue highlights, perpetually wind-swept as if he walked out of a tornado. His bright sky-blue eyes sparkled with mischief, and his expression screamed carefree confidence.

Leo , in contrast, stood tall at 6'0" with shaggy golden-brown hair and piercing amber eyes. His presence exuded pride and intensity, though his rudeness often got the better of him.

Leo "You look weak," he declared with a booming voice, crossing his arms as if he'd already won.

Sora "Sure, okay," Sora replied nonchalantly, barely paying attention. He casually yawned, causing Leo's eye to twitch in irritation.

Leo's demeanour shifted as his pupils morphed into slits, his hair thickened into a lion's mane, and his nails grew into sharp claws.

Leo: "You better take me seriously!" he roared, charging at Sora with the ferocity of a lion.

Sora tilted his head and smirked.

Sora: "Congrats, you've almost turned into a furry. Neat."

As Leo closed the distance, Sora lazily raised his hand, summoning a massive gust of wind.

WHOOSH!

The sheer force of the wind blasted Leo across the arena, sending him spinning through the air before he landed unceremoniously on his back.

Sora "Huh, that was easier than I thought."

The audience fell silent, stunned at how quickly the match had ended. Meanwhile, Sora walked over to the dazed Leo and casually extended a hand.

Sora: "Let's do that again sometime. Maybe try holding on tighter next time, yeah?"

Leo grudgingly accepted the hand, standing up with a look of newfound respect.

Leo: "You're stronger than you look. I'll give you that."

From the stands, the silence broke as Aria let out a sarcastic chuckle.

Aria: "All that hype, just to get swatted like a fly. Impressive, really."

Alice: "Reminds me of Lucas."

The group erupted into laughter as Leo sulked, muttering something about "getting serious next time." Meanwhile, Sora twirled a small breeze around his finger, as carefree as ever.

Maxwell: "Match 7 is Naomi versus Kite!"

Naomi and Kite stepped into the arena, their contrasting personalities immediately apparent.

Naomi was a 5'5" girl with jet-black hair streaked with vibrant green highlights. Her piercing emerald-green eyes shimmered with an unsettling glow. Sharp, cunning, and dangerously perceptive, she carried an eerie calmness.

Kite, on the other hand, was a 5'8" boy with ocean-blue hair that looked perpetually damp. His deep aquamarine eyes rippled like water, reflecting his chill, laid-back personality.

Naomi: "So, you're my opponent."

Her voice was calm, with a subtle smirk hinting at mischief.

Kite: "And you're Naomi. Let's have a good match!"

He grinned, his tone light and friendly.

Naomi: "Oh, I intend to."

Naomi wasted no time, summoning a poisonous fist that shimmered with toxic energy. She lunged at Kite, who nimbly dodged, though droplets of poison splattered onto the ground.

Kite: "So, poison, huh?"

He tilted his head, his tone still relaxed. "Time to show you mine."

With a quick motion, Kite created a barrage of water bullets, firing them in rapid succession.

Naomi: "Is that seriously all you've got?"

She sidestepped effortlessly, her voice dripping with mockery.

Kite smirked in response, forming a water bow and arrow. This time, his attack landed, grazing Naomi's side.

Naomi: "Damn!"

Her expression darkened slightly, but her confidence remained intact. She retaliated with a series of poison strikes, yet Kite dodged them with fluid movements, leaving her attacks to sizzle harmlessly on the ground.

Naomi: "This time, I've got you!"

She lunged again, successfully landing a strike that sent Kite stumbling back.

Kite: "Cough... Nice hit."

But Naomi wasn't done. With a sly grin, she gestured to the arena floor, where all the scattered poison droplets began converging back toward her.

Naomi: "Now eat this!"

She formed a massive ball of poison, hurling it with devastating force. It exploded, sending a toxic cloud across the arena.

As the dust settled, Naomi crossed her arms confidently.

Naomi: "Looks like I win—huh?"

To her surprise, Kite's body dissolved into a puddle of water.

Kite: "You just fought my water clone."

His voice echoed from behind her, calm and amused.

Naomi: "Since when?!"

Kite: "Since the beginning of the match. I turned myself invisible by reflecting the light off the water."

His voice remained steady, his laid-back tone almost teasing.

Naomi smirked. "You got me good."

Kite: "Thanks, but I'm running low on energy. That water clone trick wasn't cheap."

Naomi: "No problem. I've got plenty left."

Using the remaining poison, she crafted a poison lance, while Kite formed another water bow and arrow.

The two launched their final attacks simultaneously. The poison lance and water arrow collided, but the resulting force sent Kite out of the arena.

Kite: "Damn, I lost."

He grinned despite his defeat. "You're really something else."

Naomi extended a hand to help him up.

Naomi: "You surprised me, Kite. That was fun."

Maxwell "The final match is Aria versus Elizabeth!"

Aria "Elizabeth?"

Ethen "I heard she got second place in the entrance exam."

Alexis "So, she's the second-strongest student here... but that doesn't matter since Aria got first place."

Roy "Yeah, totally agree!" he said with an energetic tone.

Alice "You don't have to worry about anything," she added with a calm and cheerful smile.

Emma "If anything, we should probably feel bad for Elizabeth," she remarked teasingly.

Aria "I'm glad you all have so much confidence," he replied with a slight hint of worry.

Alice "Just don't destroy the whole holographic field, okay?"

Aria "Geez… Thanks for the support," he quipped sarcastically.

And with that, the final match began.

Both Aria and Elizabeth stepped into the arena.

Elizabeth was tall and regal, standing at 5'9". She had long, silky chestnut hair tied into an elegant braid, streaked with shimmering gold. Her striking amber eyes radiated intelligence and intensity. Dignified and calm, she exuded an air of confidence and poise that commanded respect.

Elizabeth "So, you're the rumoured Aria I've heard so much about," she said, giving a faint smile.

Elizabeth "The rumours spoke of your power and beauty, but I must say… they didn't do you justice. I'm impressed."

Aria "Uh… thanks," he replied, a little unsure.

Elizabeth "Speak up!" she said sharply. "You got first place in the entrance exam. You should have more pride in yourself."

Alexis "We've been telling Aria that all along," she chimed in with a grin.

Elizabeth wasted no time and took the first move.

Elizabeth "I'll start."

She used her telekinesis to hurl arena blocks and other objects at high speed toward Aria.

Aria leaped into the air, easily dodging the incoming projectiles.

Elizabeth "Of course, that was easy for you. How about this?"

Suddenly, Aria felt himself lifted off the ground, floating high into the air.

Aria thought to himself "Great. No way to move up here... Think! How do I get out of this? Oh, I've got it."

Using his power, Aria increased his body weight drastically, making it harder for Elizabeth to maintain control.

Elizabeth "I… I can't hold this much longer!"

Aria broke free, landing gracefully back on the arena floor.

Elizabeth "To think you're not even trying yet," she observed, narrowing her eyes.

Aria "Alright, my turn."

Aria transformed one of his arms into a glowing energy drill and charged forward.

Elizabeth quickly summoned a telekinetic force shield, barely blocking the attack.

Elizabeth "That was close," she said, a mix of joy and worry in her voice.

Aria thought to himself "She blocked that? Impressive. But I can't use more than 0.5% of my power… Otherwise, I'll collapse the entire arena."

Elizabeth "Time to finish this!"

With her power, Elizabeth gathered every remaining object in the arena, creating a swirling storm of debris around him.

Elizabeth "Let's see you handle this!"

Aria's hands glowed as he pulled back, summoning a surge of energy. Blue lightning crackled around him as the air grew heavy with power.

Aria "This move is inspired by one of the most popular characters," he muttered, unleashing a colossal wave of energy.

The two attacks collided in a massive explosion that shook the entire arena. The force of the clash was so intense it caused the holographic field and parts of the building to collapse.

When the dust settled, Elizabeth was lying on the ground, clearly defeated.

Elizabeth "I lost…"

Aria rushed over, extending a hand.

Aria "Hey, are you okay?" he asked with genuine concern.

Aria thinking "I think I overdid it again…"

Elizabeth took his hand, pulling herself up with a small smile.

Elizabeth "I'm fine. But I have to say… the rumours didn't do you justice. You're far more powerful than I ever imagined."

Aria smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of his head

Sometime later, back in class...

Ski "You all were impressive. Strong and worthy of entering Reign Academy."

Maxwell "Oh, and we've got a surprise—school will be closed for the next two days."

Maria "Why?" she asked, her tone filled with curiosity.

Ski "That's because your dorms are undergoing final preparations. Rest up, because things are only going to get more intense from here."
