Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 A New Life

-Andrey... - A voice came from the next room.

-ANDREY... - Closer and closer.

-ANDREY, GET UP QUICKLY FROM BED, STOP PLAYING ON THE COMPUTER ALL NIGHT... - The voice shouted in front of him.

-Okay Mom, just five more minutes. - He said, turning on to the other side of the bed.

-NO FIVE MINUTES, GET UP QUICKLY FROM BED, AND GO TO COLLEGE RIGHT AWAY. - She shouted in a commanding tone, trying to make him get out of bed.

-Okay, okay, I'm getting up. - Getting out of bed and yawning while covering his mouth, he stretched. "Can't even get a proper sleep." - Rolling his eyes and heading to the bathroom he thought to himself. After washing his face and brushing his teeth, he entered the kitchen. Seeing his mother standing at the stove, he asked:

-Mom, what's for breakfast, hehehe. - He slyly asked, to which his mother replied.

-What am I going to do with you, who do you think I cooked dumplings for... - Pointing to the plate on the table, she said. - Eat quickly and go to your college.

-Thanks mom, you're the best. - Thanking her, he started eagerly enjoying one dumpling after another, to which his mother replied.

-Be careful not to choke, at least chew properly before swallowing. - She made a remark heavily sighing.

-Don't worry mom, everything is fine, I won't choke. - He replied with a mouthful, once he finished eating he started to get ready for college. - Thanks mom for the dumplings, I gotta go now, don't miss me. - Putting on his jacket, he rushed out of the apartment.

-You're welcome, my dear. - She smiled in reply.

As he exited the building, he saw his best friend Grisha.

-Hey Grisha, let's go, and today we'll crush those noobs in StarCraft, right? - Excited for another victory, Andrey asked him.

-Yeah, hello, but I can't today, my father enrolled me in some program for lagging... - He muttered in a sad and melancholic voice.

-God, even though I'm already twenty-one, he still treats me like a child. - Displeased, with a disappointed look directed downwards, Grisha said. Andrey didn't miss a beat and started teasing him.

-And you go to him and say... - Making glasses with his fingers and inflating his cheeks, he tried to imitate Grisha... - Father, I'm not a little boy anymore, I can decide for myself what I need in this life. - Ha-ha, laughed Grisha.

-Well, it's easy to say in words, but can you say the same to your mom. - In response to Andrey's joke, he said. Meanwhile, Andrey saw the bus already waiting at the stop.

-Okay, forget it, we're almost at the stop, the bus is already here, let's hurry before we're late. - Increasing speed, he said, and started running to the bus stop, hoping to catch it before it left.

-Hey, wait for me. - He asked Andrey, but he didn't listen to him anymore.

-The last one is a sissy. - Shouted Andrey, gaining speed.

But when they reached the bus stop, it was already too late, the bus had left.

-Oh, darn it, we missed it, couldn't you run faster, you're like a turtle, I swear. - Breathing heavily and resting his hands on his knees, Andrey said.

-And you yourself, you're not exactly an athlete. - Breathing heavily, wiping the sweat from his forehead, Grisha replied.

-Okay, let's go, maybe we'll make it to the second class. - Slightly catching his breath, taking steps towards the university, Andrey said. As they walked, Grisha asked Andrey.

-There was something I wanted to ask you. - Adjusting his glasses, he asked.

-What's on your mind. - Stopping, he turned to Grisha.

-Why do you only play strategy and simulator games, when there are also shooters, racing, fighting games, RPGs, etc. - He asked him.

-I don't know, it just doesn't capture me, you know? - Shrugging his shoulders, he answered Grisha's question.

-Well, you're strange, there are so many wonderful games out there, and you only play boring stuff. - Starting to walk and bypassing Andrey, he said.

-Hey, don't insult my taste in games, I'm actually number one in the strategy genre in CIS. - Praising himself and trying to outdo Grisha, Andrey replied. They chatted all the way and finally reached the university.

-Oh, Grisha, what time is it now? - Anxiously asked Andrey.

-Phew, don't worry Andrey, we made it in time for the second class. - Looking at his phone, Grisha replied.

-Great, what class do I have now, do you know? - Asked Andrey.

-I think it's history. - Said Grisha, causing shivers down Andrey's spine.

-Oh darn, I'm sure professor Smirnov will scold me again. - Mumbled Andrey, and after bidding farewell to Grisha, he went to his classroom. Arriving at the classroom, he knocked on the door. Knock, knock.

-Yes, come in. - Said a voice from the classroom.

-Well, well, Stepanov, we're late. - Tapping his foot on the floor, Professor Smirnov said.

-Excuse me, Professor Smirnov, I just couldn't catch the bus, that's all. - Lowering his gaze, he said.

-Oh, Stepanov, how many times have you been late, I'm getting tired of this, if you're late next time, I'll lower your grade in the next test, do you understand me? - Staring sternly at Andrey, he said.

-Yes, Professor. - He replied without raising his eyes.

- Hm, sit down already at your seat. - With a tired look, he glanced at Andrei, pointing with a book to the last row. Andrei quickly sat down in the last row and began to listen to the professor's lecture. An hour later, the lecture finally ended, which meant it was time for lunch. Andrei went to the cafeteria and took a large plate of dumplings, then climbed onto the roof.

- That's a view, the whole city is right under my palm. - Looking at his city and inhaling the fresh air, Andrei said. He sat comfortably on the edge of the roof and started eating slowly.

- I adore the cafeteria's dumplings, mmm, they have so much filling. - Greedily stuffing himself, he admired the views. And as he was skewering the last dumpling on his fork, a strong gust of wind suddenly blew, blowing the last dumpling off the fork. Andrei tried to grab the dumpling, but unexpectedly, he himself fell down.

Boom, crash, with such a sound he fell off the roof right onto a car. A passing girl saw Andrei's body.

- Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah, a man fell off the roof here. - She screamed, trying to get her phone out of her purse. Meanwhile, Andrei was still conscious.

"Ugh, who is stupid enough to fall off the roof, oh, it's me." - A crowd gathered around Andrei, and from the crowd, Grisha ran out. Approaching Andrei, Grisha grabbed his hands and said.

- Andryusha, don't fall asleep, the ambulance is already coming, they're almost here, please don't fall asleep, what will I tell your mom? - Nervously shaking and with a trembling voice, he tried to keep Andrei conscious.

"Mom, oh, I have a mom, I can't fall asleep, but how, my eyelids are so heavy, sorry, Grisha, but I can't anymore, forgive me mom, forgive me my ranking in the CIS, it seems I can't even protect you." - In his final moments he remembered his mother's face, he thought.

"Ha, when was the last time I made my mom happy, ugh, damn it hurts so much, oh yeah, I remember in sixth grade, I got first place in math, hehehe, mom smiled so brightly, I want to see her smile again." - As Andrei's consciousness slowly faded, the ambulance arrived, and two paramedics jumped out of it.

- Everyone step back, where is the injured person? - Noticing Andrei lying on the roof of the car, they quickly took his body, loaded it into the ambulance. The ambulance was about to leave when Grisha rushed towards them.

- Please take me with you, I'm his best friend, I must be with him. - With tears in his eyes, holding onto the paramedic's sleeve, Grisha said.

- Alright, get in. - The paramedic said, helping Grisha get into the ambulance. As they drove to the hospital, the doctor started questioning Grisha about what happened.

- How did he manage to fall off the roof? - Checking Andrei's condition, the paramedic asked.

- I-I, I don't know, but he usually has lunch there, takes a plate of dumplings, and secretly climbs onto the roof, probably he fell this time, and I warned him that it was a dangerous idea. - He replied. But by the time they reached the hospital, Andrei had already passed away, the doctors called Andrei's mother and informed her of this terrible news.

-Hello, this is Marina Stepanovna. - The doctor asked. -Hello, yes it's me, who are you and why are you calling? - She asked.

-This is a doctor from the central hospital, your son fell off the roof today... - Taking a deep breath, the doctor continued... - Unfortunately, he passed away. - There was a minute of silence on the other side, and then.

- Who is this, you must be joking, I don't believe you, go play pranks on someone else... - But the doctor continued.

- Marina Stepanovna, I wish this was a joke too, but unfortunately, excuse me, it is not. - The doctor's words echoed in Marina's head.

- No, no, no, no, no, it can't be, my Andryusha. - The doctor heard loud sobbing on the other end of the line.

- Please calm down, I'm very sorry, and as much as I don't want to tell you this, you will have to come to the hospital to sign some papers. - But there was no reply, only crying and the name of Andrei. Two hours later, Marina came to her senses, ordered a taxi and went to the hospital. Entering the hospital, she approached the nurse.

- Hello, I am the mother of Andrey Stepanov, your chief doctor said I need to come and sign some papers. - The nurse looked at Marina, her eyes were swollen and red, her lips still trembled, and even after two hours, she couldn't calm down.

- Yes, come with me. - The nurse said, and went with Marina to the hospital morgue.

Approaching the morgue door, she saw a doctor standing near the door, the doctor noticed them and approached.

- Are you Marina Stepanovna? - The doctor asked.

- Yes, it's me. - She replied.

- Follow me. - The doctor said, and opening the morgue door led Marina to the body of her dead son. Marina couldn't hold back her tears, falling to the floor she was overcome with grief, repeating over and over again.

- My son, what should I do now without you, how can I live now, sob-sob.

"Oh, my head hurts, where am I?" - Andrei opened his eyes and saw an unfamiliar woman standing in front of him. She was remarkably beautiful, and her golden locks captivated his gaze, but what was this.

"Long ears, what the hell, she is a cosplayer, I have to admit she did a great job." - While Andrey was thinking, the stranger took him in her arms and said.

- Oh sorry, I woke you up, little one Adel, let me feed you. She gently took Andrey in her arms, and lowering the strap of her dress, put her breast in his mouth.

"What the hell, lady, what are you doing, my name is Andrey, not little one Adel." - As Andrey resisted, he suddenly saw himself in the mirror.

"A-A-A-A, I really am a little one, so stop, time out, am I dead, and reborn as a baby, but that's not all, I have long ears, and golden locks, holy crap, I really became an elf."
