Gabrielle walked into the matriarch's room, and found her laid in her bed, watching the news.
"Hey, I brought you something for your heart," she said, walking over to the bed.
She dropped the glass on the bedside table, and helped the matriarch into a sitting position.
"Leighton says this would help," she said, handing her the glass.
"I appreciate the doctors' attempt to help, but nothing is going to help me, Gabrielle. Except by some stroke of luck, or a speck of miracle, I see my grandson, my Ace, standing in front of me. I can't believe he's gone, Gabby," she said, her eyes began to water again.
Gabrielle had never seen the matriarch cry like this.
Not when her son died, and not even when her husband died.
It was true what everyone said. Ace really was her favorite person in the world.
