The familiar tingles of excitement she got from his kisses began, making her attempts to steel herself from him useless.
"Ace, your sisters want to know—" Gabrielle paused on her tracks, and gasped.
Ace shoved Fay aside, as they both struggled to catch their breaths in the face of being caught.
Fay turned around first. With her head looking everywhere else but forward, she grabbed the box in Gabrielle's hand, muttered her gratitude, and practically fled.
"What are you doing?" Gabrielle directed at Ace, right after she got over her shock.
"Mum, let's not make this more embarrassing than it already is."
"Oh we are. You can't kiss Fay like that, when you've not apologized for hurting her. I didn't raise this crass man."
She huffed at him, turned around, and walked away.
"But she reciprocated," he said in his defense, but she had already left, and there was no one around to hear him.
