"It's Leighton?" The person behind the knock said, just as Fay began contemplating what to do.
She hurried to the door, and opened it. Leighton walked into the room and immediately grabbed her in a hug.
"I was so worried about you," she said, squeezing her lovingly.
"I'm fine. So glad you're here. You have no idea."
Alexander, who had stepped out from the kitchen, silently watched the best friends.
When Leighton opened her eyes, their gazes locked.
He felt some shame wash over him. His decision to move had been really selfish.
They had always lived together since moving to the States. But he had let his feelings for another woman drive a wedge between them.
He felt shame, but he couldn't help it.
"I'm glad you're alright," Leighton said, her eyes pulling away from Alexander, and travelling the lengths of Fay's body.
"And I'm glad you're here."
"I brought your things?" She lifted her hands, so Fay could see.
