Chapter 260 - Chapter 260: The Mature Herbs

During this period, Rex had been engrossed in learning the All Star Fitness Body Training Technique from Senior Brother Rocky, so he hadn't paid much attention to the affairs of his farm. Now that his training had concluded, he could finally shift his focus back.

Rex planned to dedicate about an hour each day to practicing the All Star Fitness Body Training Technique, leaving the rest of his time to handle farm tasks and train his Pokémon.

With the help of life energy, Rex's physical fitness was improving much faster than others, so he didn't need to spend excessive time training.

Moreover, improving too quickly might raise suspicion, and since he was still in a growth phase, it was better not to overly suppress his body's natural development.

In recent days, the sale of Poliwag eggs from the nursery had been brisk, leaving only a little over ten eggs. As the number of available Poliwag eggs dwindled, families who had previously hesitated were now rushing to buy, so sales had actually increased.

This allowed the nursery to close earlier than expected. Rex planned to acquire new eggs once each quarter and shut down the nursery after selling them all. It would reopen in the next quarter, thus avoiding constant crowds at the Farm.

Rex preferred the peaceful atmosphere of the farm before the recent influx of visitors. Although it had gained popularity, he found it a bit uncomfortable, likely due to his introverted nature, which made him less keen on interacting with strangers.

One thing that had made Rex happy recently was that the Revival Herbs and Energy Roots planted in the backyard had finally matured. However, because he had been busy learning the All Star Fitness Body Training Technique, he hadn't harvested them yet.

Now that he had some free time, Rex grabbed his small herb shovel and headed to the backyard. The area was now quiet, with only a few Skiploom assigned to watch over the herbs and periodically use the Grassy Terrain move to maintain their vitality.

Once Rex harvested these herbs, the Skiploom would no longer need to guard them and could return to living with the rest of the group in the greenhouse.

Surprisingly, the Skiploom and Jumpluff group had adapted extremely well to the greenhouse. Initially, Rex only intended for them to use it as a dormitory, but after moving in, they never wanted to leave.

This turned out to be beneficial for Rex. With the group's diligent care, the Revival Herb and Energy Root seedlings in the greenhouse were growing even faster than those in the backyard.

This was also due to the greenhouse's slow rate of life energy dispersion, combined with the Skiploom replenishing it regularly, keeping the life energy at a consistently high concentration.

Looking at the 13 herbs before him, Rex felt a deep sense of accomplishment.

Since it was his first time growing Revival Herbs and Energy Roots, Rex had invested significant time and effort into cultivating them. Now, with the harvest finally in hand, he felt immense satisfaction.

Carefully using his small shovel, Rex dug up all three Revival Herbs and ten Energy Roots without damaging any of the herbs.

To maximize the medicinal properties of the Revival Herb, the entire plant needed to be harvested, including the roots that grew underground. This required patience, as even a small mistake could diminish its medicinal value.

Luckily, with the Energy Root, only the root itself needed to be dug up. Its shape resembled ginseng from Rex's previous life.

These insights had been provided by Grampa Mike. Ever since he learned that Rex could grow Revival Herbs and Energy Roots, the old master had been an open book, seemingly eager to share all his farming knowledge with Rex.

As a gesture of gratitude for Grampa Mike's help, Rex planned to donate these 13 mature herbs to the herbal medicine shop as repayment for the seeds he had received.

When Rex shared his plan over the phone, Grampa Mike initially refused, knowing how difficult it was to cultivate these herbs and insisting on paying Rex with league currency. However, after Rex's repeated insistence, the old master reluctantly agreed.

The key reason for Grampa Mike's eventual acceptance was his desire to analyze the medicinal properties of Rex's herbs to see how they compared with those grown in the herbal fields of Chimney Mountain.

This concern was central to their arrangement. If they could eliminate it, Rex could confidently continue growing these herbs in the future.

After collecting seeds from the herbs, Rex stored them in two wooden boxes, ensuring their medicinal properties wouldn't diminish too quickly.

Next, Rex planned to send the herbs to the herbal medicine shop in Lavaridge Town via his Swellow. This time, he decided not to go personally, trusting Swellow, who was now familiar with the route, to deliver the package.

It was worth noting that Swellow's speed was much faster when flying solo compared to carrying a person, and it would also consume much less energy.

Of course, Rex had communicated with Swellow in advance, and after receiving its confirmation, he made the decision.

Soon, Rex carefully packed the fresh herbs into a parcel, secured it to Swellow's neck, and instructed it to return quickly.

"Skraa!"

With a sharp cry, Swellow flapped its wings and disappeared from Rex's sight. When it reappeared, it was already high in the sky, quickly becoming a dot in the distance.

Watching the now-empty backyard, Rex decided not to waste the cleared land. He had originally planned to plant some fruits and vegetables here, but after some thought, he decided to let Yuli and the others handle the planning.

As for the newly harvested Revival Herb and Energy Root seeds, Rex intended to replant them in the greenhouse when he found time. The gap between plantings wouldn't be too long, and there was still plenty of space in the greenhouse.

Later that afternoon, Rex explained his plan for the backyard to Yuli and her friends. He had expected only Yuli to be interested in the planning, but to his surprise, all three were enthusiastic.

Fortunately, the backyard was large enough for each of them to execute their own ideas. Rex had no intention of intervening and left the planning to them.

Soon, the three were excitedly discussing their plans. Rex, unable to contribute to the conversation, quickly finished his meal and left the house.

His departure went unnoticed by Yuli and her friends, who remained deeply absorbed in their discussion about the backyard's layout and design.

Back in his room at the nursery, Rex used his ability to enhance the seeds he had just collected. He placed them in petri dishes and added some nutrient solution. In two days, the seeds would be ready to plant in the greenhouse.
