Chapter 251 - Chapter 251: Greenhouse Planting

After the land was leveled, Rex had the Skiploom flock enter the glass greenhouse and instructed them to collectively use the Grassy Terrain move.

Although the Skiploom were a bit puzzled as to why Rex wanted them to use their move on an empty plot of land, they obediently complied. As waves of vibrant green energy rose from the surrounding area, the concentration of life energy within the glass greenhouse increased dramatically.

At that moment, everyone and every Pokémon inside the greenhouse could feel a gentle energy nourishing their bodies, alleviating their fatigue and healing any minor injuries.

Moreover, the previously barren ground suddenly sprouted countless tiny grasses. These were seeds that had been buried in the soil, now sprouting due to the influx of life energy.

The weeds grew rapidly under the intensified life energy, but Rex wasn't surprised by this scene. In fact, this was the outcome he had aimed for.

If the weed seeds hadn't sprouted, they would've been more difficult to manage. Now that they had grown, Rex only needed to pull them out completely. Once the Revival Herb and Energy Root seedlings were planted, the number of remaining weeds would drastically decrease, until they were all eventually cleared out.

"Wow, it feels so comfortable in here!" Yui couldn't help but exclaim. Yuli and Karen, who had come along, nodded in agreement.

Since clearing the weeds required uprooting them completely—any small remnant could cause them to regrow—this task was not well-suited for the Pokémon. So, Rex enlisted the help of the three women to assist with weed removal.

"Alright, you can live in here if you want later on. For now, let's hurry up and clear the weeds before they spread and become a real headache!" Rex urged them.

"Lalala, you sure know how to work us hard, boss!" Yui teased, pulling a funny face at Rex.

Over the next couple of hours, the four of them diligently worked with small shovels to clear the weeds inside the glass greenhouse. Even Yui, who had been joking with Rex earlier, was fully immersed in the task, revealing she had been merely playing around.

After more than two hours, they finally finished clearing the weeds. It took so long because as they were weeding, new ones kept sprouting due to the strong life energy present.

"Phew, finally done! Let's go out to town for a nice meal later!" Rex suggested. It was already past 7 p.m., and none of them had eaten dinner yet, so he proposed heading to Fallarbor Town to reward everyone for their hard work.

"Haha, sounds great! Let's eat our fill since it's the boss's treat!"

"Exactly! I haven't eaten out in town for ages!"

"Let's go then!"

Having reached a consensus, they first took showers to clean off the dirt, then each hopped on a Swellow and headed to Fallarbor Town.

Recently, Fallarbor Town had undergone significant changes. Slateport City had poured a lot of funds into developing the town, which boosted local employment and the economy. This attracted many business owners looking to invest, and numerous people also moved there to settle.

Even though it was nighttime, the streets were still bustling with people and Pokémon. After a day of work, many had the same idea as Rex and his friends—to treat themselves to a nice evening, which in turn gave a boost to the town's restaurant business.

Rex also noticed something amusing: many children were accompanied by either Taillow or Poliwag. It was clear that most of these Pokémon had been purchased from his breeding farm.

If this trend continued, Rex imagined that in the future, Taillow and Poliwag could become the signature Pokémon of trainers in Fallarbor Town.

This would create a kind of clustering effect, where the town's children, influenced by their peers, would mostly choose either Taillow or Poliwag as their starter Pokémon.

Over time, this quantitative change would lead to a qualitative one. As trainers in the town raised these two species, more knowledge about them would become widespread. Training methods would improve based on the experiences of earlier trainers, helping future generations raise stronger Taillow and Poliwag even faster.

Of course, this was something far off in the future, and Rex was merely daydreaming about the possibilities. For now, his breeding farm would continue its operations as usual.

The group found a long-established restaurant in Fallarbor Town. Rex had eaten here when he first arrived in town, and the owner recognized him, especially now that his breeding farm had gained quite a reputation. The stories of his early days in Fallarbor Town were a common topic among the locals.

There's something about a meal's atmosphere that really adds to the experience. Even though the food wasn't exceptional, the four of them ate to their hearts' content, filling themselves up.

They continued eating until past 10 p.m. Afterward, they strolled around town for a while before returning to Rex Farm around 11 p.m.

Over the next two days, Rex had the Skiploom repeatedly use Grassy Terrain inside the glass greenhouse, steadily increasing the concentration of life energy. Moreover, the energy within the greenhouse dissipated much more slowly than it did in the open air.

Rex was confident that in this environment, all the plants would thrive.

By this time, the Revival Herb and Energy Root seeds that had been soaking in the nutrient solution had already sprouted, growing into seedlings about as tall as a finger.

At this stage, the seedlings were still consuming the life energy stored in the seeds, so Rex needed to plant them in the greenhouse as soon as possible.

There were only about 100 seedlings in total, so Rex didn't bother asking for help. He personally planted each one into the pre-dug holes in the soil.

After planting each seedling, Rex watered it with diluted nutrient solution to ensure the seedlings had enough water and nutrients.

Once all the seedlings were planted, Rex wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a long sigh of relief. Though he was tired, seeing the seedlings in front of him filled him with a strong sense of accomplishment.

It seems the instinct to farm is deeply ingrained in his soul. No matter which world he finds himself in or what kind of environment he's in, he feels an innate urge to plant something.

"Skiploom, use Grassy Terrain!"

At Rex's command, more than a dozen Skiploom released their Grassy Terrain move, filling the glass greenhouse with vibrant green life energy.

The newly planted seedlings instinctively absorbed the life energy, causing their roots to grow rapidly, firmly anchoring themselves in the soil. Soon after, the stems above ground also began to grow, though at a slower pace.

Seeing this, Rex knew that the Revival Herb and Energy Root seedlings had been successfully planted. Now all he needed to do was regularly water and fertilize them, and have the Skiploom periodically release Grassy Terrain.

Suddenly, Rex noticed that one of the Skiploom was starting to glow with a white light.
