"Huh, now that you mention it, May, Rex's Lileep doesn't seem as aloof as the ones in the research lab!
Prompted by May's observation, Ash also realized the difference and remarked.
"Why is there such a difference among fossil Pokémon revived using the same fossil revival machine?"
Brock looked at Rex, hoping for a reasonable explanation.
"In my understanding, it's likely due to Lileep's adaptability to our current era."
Rex shared his perspective at the right moment.
"Exactly, Rex is right. Fossil Pokémon revived from fossils often have a disconnect with our current time, and it takes a long period of adaptation."
At this moment, Professor Proctor and Annie joined the conversation and offered their explanations.
"Rex, your Lileep hasn't been revived for long. How did you manage to make it adapt so well to the current environment? It seems no different from other Pokémon of our time."
Professor Proctor observed Lileep for a while and then asked, puzzled.
"I'm not sure, maybe my Lileep just likes our current era more than others."
Rex didn't reveal that he had used life energy to cleanse Lileep's body, attributing the difference to Lileep's unique nature instead.
After all, Pokémon personalities are diverse, and different behaviors are possible, adding to the wonder of Pokémon.
Since Rex didn't provide a definitive answer, Professor Proctor wasn't surprised. He had asked out of curiosity and didn't expect Rex to solve his doubts.
"I need to conduct a comprehensive examination of Lileep, but I assure you it won't harm it. The examination will take a few days. Do you agree to this, Rex?"
Professor Proctor asked after looking at Lileep by Rex's side.
"Of course, I don't mind. I can use these days to give my Pokémon some special training!"
Rex readily agreed to Professor Proctor's request, as they had previously discussed it. He also wanted to see the results of the examination to better understand Lileep and aid its future development.
"Thank you so much, Rex. You and your friends can stay at my research institute during this time!"
Professor Proctor said excitedly to Rex.
Rex then spoke a few words to Lileep, asking it to cooperate with Professor Proctor's examination. Lileep, trusting Rex, followed Professor Proctor without resistance.
"We might have to stay on this island for a few more days, so let's continue our previous training plan!"
Rex said to Ash and the others.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go! I need to train Pikachu's Thunderbolt and Iron Tail combo!"
Hearing about training, Ash's enthusiasm reignited, and he headed towards the beach with Pikachu.
Rex didn't immediately start training but went to the cape where the ancient fruit trees grew. He picked some fruits, planning to try planting them on his farm. If successful, Lileep would certainly be very happy.
When Rex arrived at the beach, Ash and May were already training their Pokémon against the waves. Rex smiled but didn't disturb them, finding a quiet spot for his training.
Swellow continued practicing Hyper Beam. From battling with Drake's Salamence, Rex learned that being able to fire consecutive Hyper Beams could significantly offset differences in strength and disrupt the opponent's rhythm.
Until Swellow could perform like Winona's Shiny Swellow, needing only a few seconds of rest between Hyper Beams, Rex didn't plan to change its training regimen.
Victreebel, as the team's medic, ensured the Pokémon could train without worries. Aside from treatment time, Rex had no demands for Victreebel, which loved absorbing sunlight from treetops, making it feel comfortable.
Since learning Superpower on Muscle Island, Machop had seen explosive growth in strength, seemingly on the verge of evolving into Machoke. Rex believed its missing right arm might be a barrier, requiring an intense battle to trigger its potential and evolution.
For Fighting-type Pokémon, intense battles are crucial for rapid strength improvement. Thus, Machop continued battling Heracross. Currently, Heracross, using only Fighting-type moves, took longer to defeat Machop.
Rex paired Flaaffy and Haunter to practice skill proficiency and power. Flaaffy's slow speed meant it would be a long-range attacker. Without formidable attacks, it would easily be defeated. Haunter, though fast, needed to master Shadow Ball, aiming to create a powerful, decisive attack.
Lastly, there was Lapras. Recently captured, it hadn't formed a strong bond with Rex and was still young with limited skills: Growl, Water Gun, Sing, and Ice Shard. Rex's goal was to strengthen these skills and see if they could evolve into more advanced moves like Water Pulse or Ice Beam.
Skill learning from other Pokémon was possible but unpredictable in terms of success and time. Rex didn't know Lapras's skill-learning capability yet but believed mastering its current skills was a safe approach.
"Rex, can I train Lapras? I'd love to help it practice these skills."
Max, having watched Rex assign tasks to his Pokémon, couldn't resist asking when Rex reached Lapras.
"Sure, but you need to supervise Lapras's training properly!"
After some thought, Rex agreed, as it would free him to practice body-strengthening techniques.
Max, thrilled by the opportunity, cherished it as he couldn't capture Pokémon due to his age but was eager to train them. This chance significantly boosted his admiration for Rex.
