After capturing Lileep, Rex immediately released it again. Due to the injury from Air Slash, Lileep seemed somewhat listless and weak.
With his experience, Rex quickly called out Victreebel and had it use the Grassy Terrain skill to heal Lileep. He also took some energy cubes from his backpack and offered them to Lileep.
Perhaps it was accustomed to eating energy cubes at Professor Birch's lab, as Lileep promptly consumed all the cubes Rex gave it, happily munching away.
After the treatment, Lileep quickly regained its optimal condition. Now, it had developed a sense of respect for Rex, no longer ignoring his presence as before.
However, Lileep was still fearful of Swellow, who had easily defeated it, and did not dare to approach too closely.
With initial respect established, Rex's goal was achieved. To develop a deeper bond with Lileep, time and patience would be necessary.
On land, Lileep moved very slowly, using the four protrusions on its base to inch forward bit by bit. To save time, Rex returned it to its Poké Ball.
"Professor, I've captured Lileep. If there's nothing else, I won't disturb your research any longer."
Rex found Professor Birch, who was observing the behavior of a Grovyle, and bid him farewell.
"Alright, I won't keep you. If there are any issues with Lileep, feel free to contact me anytime."
After saying goodbye to Professor Birch, Rex also chatted briefly with Jushua before leaving the lab.
Having achieved his goal, Rex did not plan to stay in Littleroot Town any longer. He mounted Swellow and headed straight back to his farm.
"Boss, did you get the fossil Pokémon?"
The two girls hurriedly asked as soon as Rex returned, curious about the fossil Pokémon, a rarity due to the limited availability of revival technology.
"Come out, Lileep!"
Rex didn't elaborate much but directly released Lileep.
"This is a fossil Pokémon? It sure looks different from the usual ones we see. Although it looks a bit strange, I believe it's a good child."
Yui said with a knowing air.
"Ah, it hurts!"
Yui tried to touch Lileep but was struck on the arm by one of its tentacles, leaving a whip mark on her fair skin. Despite Lileep's petal-like tentacles appearing harmless, they were actually designed to entangle and restrain prey during feeding.
Lileep's tentacles were not only very flexible but also extremely tough, capable of exerting significant force. The whip mark was a mild warning; Lileep did not exert full strength, not allowing a weak-looking creature to touch it casually.
"You shouldn't be so reckless in the future. Lileep has only been revived recently and is not yet accustomed to our time. Its mindset is still that of a prehistoric era, all about survival of the fittest."
Rex checked Yui's arm and, seeing only slight bruising without any serious injury, sighed in relief before admonishing her.
"Yuli, I'm in so much pain, and the boss is scolding me!"
Yui, though somewhat frightened by the incident, sought comfort from Yuli.
"You need to be more careful in the future. Let's get you some ointment."
Yuli, despite thinking Yui's actions were rash, couldn't help but feel sympathetic seeing her in pain, and took her to apply some medicine.
"Lileep, Yui just wanted to be friends with you. There's no need to be so tense."
After the girls left, Rex spoke to Lileep, but seeing no reaction, he could only shake his head, knowing time would be needed for it to adapt.
Rex then took Lileep to his room, intending to use life energy to heal its internal injuries. Defeating it had established dominance, but now he aimed to show kindness, balancing respect and compassion.
Lileep, recognizing Rex as the one who defeated it, allowed him to place his hand on it. Life energy flowed into Lileep, healing and optimizing its body, fixing imperfections from the fossil revival process.
Gradually, Lileep felt itself integrating into this world, no longer feeling out of place. This realization brought it great joy.
"Lileep, how do you feel now?"
Seeing Lileep stand motionless for a long time, Rex asked.
Lileep, coming to its senses, gently touched Rex's face with its tentacle, expressing gratitude. It had lost its earlier coldness and seemed much friendlier.
Rex, delighted by Lileep's transformation, led it to an open space to guide it in using its skills.
Constrict, Astonish, Acid, Confuse Ray, Ingrain, Ancient Power, Mega Drain, Brine, Amnesia, Energy Ball—such a rich skill set was surprising for a recently revived Pokémon. Perhaps fossil revival also inherited the skills from the fossil.
Rex was thrilled not just by Lileep's extensive skill set but by its complete obedience, making it ready for battles.
"Let's apologize to Yui, Lileep."
Finding the still-upset Yui, Rex spoke to Lileep, who moved forward and gently touched Yui's face with its tentacle.
Yui, gaining courage, carefully touched Lileep, then quickly withdrew her hand, smiling.
"I forgive you, Lileep. I hope we can get along well!"
Holding Lileep's tentacle, Yui beamed, while Rex and Yuli exchanged smiles, pleased with the newfound harmony.
