Chapter 109 - Chapter 109: Bellossom

Eager to have Bellossom learn the Grassy Terrain skill as soon as possible, Koko ended her call with Rex after explaining everything clearly.

After informing Bellossom about the need to go to Rex's farm to learn the skill and receiving Bellossom's agreement, Koko hurried to the Pokémon Center and transmitted Bellossom's Pokéball to the Pokémon Center in Fallarbor Town using the transfer device.

"Long time no see, Nurse Joy!"

Rex greeted Nurse Joy with a smile.

He had received Koko's notification about the transmission of Bellossom's Pokéball and had immediately ridden on Swellow to the Pokémon Center in Fallarbor Town.

"Hi, Rex, You're here to pick up Bellossom's Pokéball, right?"

Nurse Joy smiled and nodded at Rex before asking.

She had received the Pokéball from Mauville City not long ago and knew that Rex was the designated receiver. However, she still needed to confirm with him as part of her routine procedure.

"Yes, thank you for your help, Nurse Joy."

Rex nodded in response.

After receiving the Pokéball from Nurse Joy, Rex released Bellossom from it and scanned it with his Pokédex.

When Bellossom bathes in the sun, its petals become even more vibrant, and the leaves around its body rotate in circles. After the rainy season, Bellossom starts to dance, attracted by the warm sunshine. Its dance is a famous spectacle.

Bellossom's dance involves touching each other's petals and singing beautiful songs, producing melodious sounds. At night, they close their petals and sleep.

Sometimes, when the sky is overcast, Bellossom can be seen gathering and performing a dance that resembles a ritual to summon the sun. The smellier a Gloom is before evolving, the more beautiful the Bellossom it evolves into.

"Nice to meet you, Bellossom. I believe you already know that Miss Koko entrusted you to me for a while to take care of you, right?"

Rex said with a smile to Bellossom, who looked at him curiously.

Bellossom nodded understandingly, indicating that it was aware.

It knew it had a trainer's task to accomplish, and to help the trainer grow beautiful flowers, it needed to train diligently under this human's guidance.

After confirming that Bellossom understood its situation, Rex returned it to its Pokéball. After chatting briefly with Nurse Joy, he headed back to his farm.

Upon returning to his backyard, Rex spoke with Victreebel before releasing Bellossom from its Pokéball.

As soon as Bellossom came out, it instinctively sensed a comfortable energy. This energy made it feel so relaxed that it began to perform photosynthesis involuntarily.

Watching Bellossom use photosynthesis, Rex didn't disturb it. Instead, he instructed Victreebel to use the Grassy Terrain skill to allow Bellossom to absorb the life energy naturally. This would help Bellossom understand the life energy more directly.

Soon, Bellossom woke up from its strange state. It felt like it had comprehended something but couldn't fully grasp it, causing it some frustration. It looked at Rex, hoping he could clarify its confusion.

"You've absorbed a lot of life energy into your body just now. When you figure out how to combine life energy with grass-type energy, it will mean you've mastered the Grassy Terrain skill. So, don't worry. With your aptitude, it won't take too long."

Rex understood Bellossom's confusion, but it needed to comprehend this on its own. All he could do was provide a good learning environment.

Having done all he could, Rex left Bellossom in the backyard with the Hoppip group and went to enhance the Gracidea flower seeds.

"Grandma Nieno, these are for you."

Yuli and Yui arrived at the orphanage and found Grandma Nieno, who was wearing glasses and writing something.

"Thank you, they're beautiful flowers. I love them."

Grandma Nieno praised them as she accepted the bouquets from the two girls.

However, she was puzzled. Did she forget a special occasion today? Why else would Yuli and Yui give her flowers so formally?

"Is today a special day?"

Unable to figure it out after thinking for a while, Grandma Nieno finally voiced her confusion to the girls.

"Hehe, Grandma Nieno, think again."

Yuli and Yui exchanged a smile and said mysteriously.

"Just tell me. I'm old, my memory isn't great, and I can't remember."

Grandma Nieno thought for a long time, even flipping through her notebook, but couldn't find anything special.

Seeing it was about time, the two girls explained the reason for the flowers, not wanting Grandma Nieno to worry too much.

"You little rascals, tricking me like that!"

Though her heart was warmed by the gesture, Grandma Nieno pretended to be angry.

"Don't be mad, Grandma Nieno. We were just teasing you"

Yui hugged Grandma Nieno's arm and acted coy.

"Did everything go well at the farm? Make sure you don't neglect your work."

Grandma Nieno asked with some concern.

"Don't worry, we already got permission from the boss."

Yui quickly explained that they had taken leave properly, not skipped work.

"How are Yuta and the others doing in school?"

With the farm work keeping her busy, Yuli hadn't paid much attention to the orphanage recently, hence her question.

"They're all studying hard, but I'm worried about Yuta. He's changed a lot lately and isn't as close to the other kids."

Grandma Nieno sighed and shared her concerns.

Since Yuta started attending trainer school, he had become somewhat aloof and distant from the other kids at the orphanage, even befriending some bad influences at school.

This change caught her off guard, and she regretted sending him to trainer school. Becoming a trainer required significant resources, which the orphanage couldn't provide, leaving Yuta to fend for himself.

"Grandma Nieno, you've done your best to help Yuta pursue his dream. The rest is up to him. We can only support him and keep him from straying."

Yuli tried to comfort Grandma Nieno, sensing her guilt.

"That's all we can do. But don't worry about the orphanage. Focus on your lives; that's the best way to repay me."

Grandma Nieno didn't want Yuli and Yui to worry about the orphanage anymore. She wanted them to focus on their own lives.

"Boss, we're back! We brought cookies from the director!"

Yui announced as she entered, shaking a small bag in Rex's direction.

"Really? I'll have to try them!"

Rex, sitting on the sofa and browsing the latest news on his phone, responded with anticipation.
