Chapter 173 - Chapter 173: Helping with the Search

When the parents, including Mr. Cortez, Mrs. Smith, and Mr. Rivera, learned that their children had entered Petalburg Woods, they initially planned to search for them themselves. However, without knowing which direction their children had taken, their search would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Moreover, although they had raised some Pokémon, these were mainly kept as pets and lacked significant combat power, meaning their own safety couldn't be guaranteed in the forest.

"Why don't we just leave them be? Maybe they'll contact us in a few days. Rookie trainers often go through this," suggested Mr. Rivera with a hint of helplessness.

"Yeah, Petalburg Woods is vast. The chances of us finding them are very slim and it's also dangerous," Mr. Cortez agreed.

It wasn't that Mr. Cortez didn't care about his daughter's safety; they were simply at a loss in the current situation.

"No, given how recklessly they acted, the chances of something going wrong in the forest are high. We must do something," Mrs. Smith said firmly. "Let's go ask Officer Jenny for help. She might have a better idea."

"That's a good idea! Last time, she arrested that corrupt developer," Mrs. Cortez agreed eagerly after hearing Mrs. Smith's suggestion.

Mr. Rivera also agreed with the decision. Taking action was better than worrying at home; after all, his son wasn't just wandering around aimlessly.

The group quickly headed to the police station and found Officer Jenny, who was idling away. Normally, she would be excited to help since Fallarbor Town was quite peaceful, and most disputes were resolved by the residents themselves without bothering her.

However, upon hearing about the situation, Officer Jenny felt a bit helpless. She was just one person with an Arcanine. Although Arcanine was fast, finding the kids without a specific direction would be challenging.

The parents understood that their kids' actions had caused quite a problem. But as parents, they couldn't give up hope.

Officer Jenny was also very concerned. She had been stationed in Fallarbor Town for several years and was familiar with these young trainers. She didn't want anything bad to happen to them.

As the parents were about to leave the police station in despair, Officer Jenny had a sudden realization.

"Wait, I'll make a call and see if someone can help," she said, asking the parents to stay.

She remembered seeing Rex commanding a large group of Swellow during the arrest of the corrupt developer. If these flying Pokémon could help, the chances of quickly finding the kids would greatly increase. However, she needed to confirm with Rex first.

"Hello, is this Rex?" she asked when the call connected.

"Yes, Officer Jenny, what can I do for you?" Rex replied politely, pausing his training session with his Combusken and Machoke.

Officer Jenny explained the situation in detail, asking Rex to mobilize his Swellow to help find the missing children. Without hesitation, Rex agreed, knowing the dangers of Petalburg Woods firsthand. He understood that the children's survival depended more on luck than their strength.

"Officer Jenny, bring the parents to my farm and have them bring photos of the kids," Rex instructed.

The parents, relieved by the good news, quickly followed Officer Jenny to Rex's farm. Jenny, riding her Arcanine, led the way.

Upon arrival, Rex had already summoned his Swellow and their leader. He left some Swellow to guard the farm to prevent wild Pokémon from causing trouble in his absence.

"Welcome to my farm," Rex greeted them warmly.

"Thank you, Rex. How many Swellow can you mobilize?" Officer Jenny asked.

"You can see for yourself," Rex pointed to a cloud of Swellow approaching.

Everyone was stunned by the sight of the large group of Swellow. As they landed, Mrs. Smith exclaimed, "With so many flying Pokémon, the kids will be found quickly."

Officer Jenny and the parents felt hopeful. Rex instructed the parents to show the photos to the Swellow. Afterward, he divided them into groups, each led by a Swellow, to search in different directions.

"Please, come inside and rest while we wait for news," Rex invited them after organizing the search.

Officer Jenny and the parents, knowing they could do nothing more, agreed and anxiously waited inside for the results.
