Chapter 10 - Campus Rooftop Appointment

"What should we do? What should we do?" Tong Tong paced anxiously. "If he finds out, he'll kill me! That bracelet was a gift from his girlfriend!"

"Girlfriend?" Tong Tong seemed to realize something. She grabbed a pillow and fiercely smashed it onto the bed. "Darn Yang Ke! Stupid Yang Ke! The bracelet is lost. Let's see how you explain it!"

Leaf Xun and Yang Ke searched the living room for a while but didn't see any sign of a mouse. Leaf Xun finally breathed a sigh of relief. When the bedroom door opened, Tong Tong came out.

"Leaf Xun, let's go!" Tong Tong planned to make a run for it before the situation blew up.

"Weren't you planning to stay here?" Leaf Xun asked.

"Where would I stay?" Tong Tong retorted. "I think it's you who don't want to leave! Besides, we still have classes today!"

"Alright then!" Yang Ke said. "You can come over often from now on!"

"Definitely! Definitely!" Tong Tong smiled.

After leaving the building, Tong Tong breathed a long sigh of relief. "Finally escaped. Yang Ke is in trouble now. As long as they break up, then I..."

"What's wrong with you today? You're acting strange!" Leaf Xun said.

"What do you mean? I'm perfectly normal!" Tong Tong retorted defensively.

The sunlight pierced through the fresh air, bringing an unparalleled sense of comfort. Leaf Xun stretched her arms and took a deep breath. The delicate bracelet peeked out from her sleeve, sparkling in the sunlight.

Tong Tong screamed and grabbed Leaf Xun's wrist, staring at the bracelet. "How come this bracelet is with you?"

"It was given to me by Yang Ke!" Leaf Xun rotated her arm in the sunlight, and the bracelet shimmered brightly before her eyes.

A surge of jealousy rushed into Tong Tong's heart. She pouted and said, "I don't believe it! This bracelet was on my wrist yesterday, but it's gone this morning. You must have taken it to deceive me!"

"Ah! I get it now!" Leaf Xun suddenly realized. "No wonder you wanted to leave in a hurry, thinking you caused trouble and wanted to escape! The story about the mouse earlier was fake, right?"

"No way!" Tong Tong argued cunningly. "What's the big deal about a bracelet? Do you really think he would kill someone just for losing it?"

"Do you want to know why he gave me this bracelet?" Leaf Xun asked.

Tong Tong wanted to know, but she said, "Say whatever you want. It's just a bracelet. I don't care!"

Leaf Xun smiled and said, "This bracelet was originally mine. I accidentally broke it, and Yang Ke just fixed it for me."

"Really?" Tong Tong asked skeptically.

"Really!" Leaf Xun nodded.

Tong Tong's originally gloomy face immediately lit up with a sunny smile.

"You said you didn't care, right? Then why are you chasing after confirmation?" Leaf Xun asked with a smile.

"I never cared in the first place; it was you who said that!" Tong Tong said, trying to sound serious.

The next day, nearing dusk, Dai Qiang finally returned. He walked into the living room and saw Yang Ke lying on the couch, resting with his eyes closed. Without greeting, Dai Qiang headed towards the bedroom.

"Dai Qiang!" Yang Ke called out to him. "Can we talk?"

Dai Qiang turned around, smiling. "I thought you were asleep, so I didn't want to disturb you. Sorry about that!"

"I should be the one apologizing!" Yang Ke said. "I made everyone unhappy yesterday."

"It's nothing!" Dai Qiang said. "It was just an accident. None of us expected things to turn out this way!"

"Dai Qiang, I think you should have a good talk with Leaf Xun. Regardless of what choice you make, you shouldn't be in this situation," Yang Ke said. "Of course, this is just my personal suggestion because I don't know much about your situation."

"Thank you!" Dai Qiang said earnestly. "I think we'll figure it out."

Shortly after Dai Qiang entered the bedroom, there was a knock on the door. Yang Ke opened it, revealing a beautiful girl standing outside.

"Hello, is Dai Qiang staying here?" the girl asked.

Yang Ke called out to Dai Qiang's room a few times, and Dai Qiang came out.

"Yang Ke, this is my new girlfriend, Meng Ya!" Dai Qiang introduced her. "And this is my roommate, Yang Ke!"

Dai Qiang and Meng Ya walked into the bedroom, leaving Yang Ke lost in thought. Just then, there was another knock on the door. Yang Ke opened it to find the last person he wanted to see at that moment—Leaf Xun.

"Leaf Xun, what are you doing here?" Yang Ke asked nervously.

"I left in a hurry the day before yesterday and forgot some things!" Leaf Xun said. "Also, I have something for you!"

"Leaf Xun, let's go downstairs for a walk," Yang Ke said.

"Why are you acting strange today, Yang Ke?" Leaf Xun asked curiously.

"Nothing at all!" Yang Ke said, feigning composure.

"Is Dai Qiang back?" Leaf Xun asked.

Yang Ke didn't know how to respond, so he just nodded.

"That's good. I have something to say to him," Leaf Xun said as she entered the living room, leaving Yang Ke unable to stop her.

Just then, the door to the bedroom on the west side opened, and Dai Qiang and Meng Ya walked out. Yang Ke closed his eyes in desperation. He knew a war was about to erupt, perhaps this would be the start of World War III, and this place would definitely become the epicenter of a nuclear war.

"Leaf Xun, you're here!" Dai Qiang said with a smile, pulling Meng Ya to his side. "Let me introduce you. This is my new girlfriend, Meng Ya!"

"Hello," Leaf Xun said calmly. "I've known Dai Qiang for a long time."

Dai Qiang and Meng Ya left, leaving only Yang Ke and Leaf Xun in the living room. The silence in the room made Yang Ke feel scared.

"Yang Ke, this is for you!" Leaf Xun handed a box to Yang Ke. "Wait for me tonight on the rooftop of the boys' dormitory. Remember to bring your MP3 player and listen to this piece of music!"

Leaf Xun left, trying her best not to shed tears in front of Yang Ke. But as she walked out the door, Yang Ke still saw her tears flowing like a spring. It was the first time Yang Ke saw Leaf Xun so composed, but to him, it felt like she was suppressing herself. Yang Ke almost wanted to cry himself. He opened the box Leaf Xun gave him, finding a CD inside titled "Waltz of the Sleeping Beauty" by Tchaikovsky.

Yang Ke arrived at the rooftop early. The sun slowly sank in the west, and the night quietly crept into his vision. Under the engulfing haze of the gray sky, Yang Ke's anxious heart was covered with a thick layer of worry. The flickering lights, once enchanting and beautiful, now seemed blurry and dim, causing him anxiety. He feared that after a blink, they would forever extinguish into the night sky, making the night even more monotonous and silent.
