Hot liquid made its way into her throat and she realized right away it was too late to expel the fluid that made it past her tongue. She reflexively coughed up after swallowing, feeling the burn on her windpipe.
This is alcohol.
"Are you okay?" The man next to Lucy swiftly asked in concern.
At that moment Owen finished his phonecall and headed back to his seat beside Lucy.
"Are you okay?" Owen asked the same question with an accompanying pat on Lucy's back. He has barely sat down, not minding the gym member who expressed his concern first.
Lucy had to take a few moments between choked coughs and teary eyes before she could answer Owen's question.
"Is this yours?" Another round of splutter makes its way to Lucy's burning throat.
"Yeah, why did you drink it?" Owen knew it was an accident but he couldn't help asking the question while bringing up a glass of water in front of the woman.
