Chapter 38 - Clash of Strategies

As the battle raged on in the snow-covered battlefield, high above in the towering citadel overlooking the grounds, Lord Frozenfang and Lord Moonshade stood side by side, their eyes fixed on the unfolding chaos below. The tension between them was palpable, each man's pride and ego fueling the rivalry that had brewed for years.

"Quite the challenge we've set before them," Moonshade remarked, his voice smooth yet laced with an undertone of superiority. His long, black hair cascaded over his elegant attire, and his serpent-like yellow eyes gleamed with interest. "These children, pitted against each other in such a ruthless test of strength and strategy... It's almost poetic."

Frozenfang, his icy blue eyes narrowing, replied with a hint of disdain, "Poetic, yes, but also a true test of who has trained their soldiers better. Evelyn has proven herself to be a leader of remarkable insight and tactical brilliance. Her knowledge and leadership are what will guide my team to victory. Khalid, with his unyielding determination and fiery spirit, is a warrior any lord would be proud to claim."

Moonshade chuckled, a sly grin forming on his lips. "You speak highly of your chosen ones, Frozenfang. But strength, pure and unbridled, is what wins wars. Kai—now there is a warrior with potential beyond mere tactics. His bloodlust drives him to seek out the strongest opponents, and when he fights, it is with a power that no amount of strategy can overcome. Lysander may be smart and cunning, but Kai's strength is unmatched. Muscle is better than brain, wouldn't you agree?"

Frozenfang didn't flinch, his cold demeanor unwavering. "Strength without direction is nothing but chaos. Kai may overpower many, but without a mind to guide that strength, he is a wild beast, dangerous but not invincible. That is where Evelyn and Khalid surpass him. They fight with purpose, with a strategy that uses their power to its fullest."

Moonshade leaned forward, his eyes narrowing as he studied the battlefield. "Perhaps, but let's not forget the unexpected variables—like that bear creature. It seems our little game has taken an interesting turn. Should we intervene?"

Frozenfang considered the suggestion for a moment, his gaze locked on the scene below where the beast prowled dangerously close to the children. "Intervene? Where's the fun in that? These are soldiers in the making, not coddled nobles. If they can't handle a mere beast, they don't deserve to stand at the top. Evelyn's leadership will find a way, and Khalid's fire will burn through any obstacle."

Moonshade smirked, his eyes flashing with a mixture of excitement and amusement. "And Kai will relish the chance to face such a challenge. The boy's bloodlust might just drive him to defeat that beast single-handedly. Let's see how this unfolds. It's bound to be more entertaining than we originally anticipated."

The two lords fell silent, watching intently as their young warriors fought for survival, each secretly hoping that their chosen few would emerge victorious, not just for the glory of the win, but to prove once and for all who truly possessed the greater power.
