Chapter 10 - Presentation Day 2

"You thief!" Mara said and rushed to him, "How dare you steal our deal! How dare you!" Mara said angrily.

"Hey, young girl, be careful what you say," he replied.

"I know you stole our deal plan and presented it as yours because there is no way we could both have the same thing from word to word. Everything Ann said in the hall was ours, and we both know that" she accused.

He positioned himself well, "What evidence do you have? What if we presented your offer? Nobody would know, and who is going to believe you?" he added with a grin on his face.

"So, you did steal our deal," Mara said.

He nodded with a smile and raised his hands. "This is business strategy, girl. You dirty yourself like a dog and eat big," he added and laughed.

Before he could utter another word of his pride, Max from nowhere delivered a heavy blow to his jawline, which sent him straight to the floor.

"Utter another word, and you'll find yourself six feet under," Max growled, his eyes blazing with fury.

As he touched his lips, blood oozed. He laughed shamelessly, "Why are you acting like you don't know how it goes?" he said. "I warned you not to mess with me," he added.

"The meeting will be continued soon. I urge everyone to report back to the hall," the host made the announcement.

Mr. Green Wave laughed and stood up on his knees. "The meeting is about to start. What are you going to do now?" he asked with a smile. "Or should we call it the end so I can take the deal?" he added.

"I will be in the hall waiting to see the decision you could come up with," he added and walked away.

Max pulled back, and Mara held him away from him.

"Don't listen to what he is saying. We can present mine, the deal you dumped," she said.

"No, go and pack. Let's go back home," he added with no hope left in him.

"Wait here. Don't go anywhere. Wait," Mara said and quickly rushed out from there.

Where did I keep it, where are the damnn files, she said as she searched everywhere in her hotel room…

Oh, there is it she said and removed it and placed it on her chest, I hope this will do, she said and rushed out of the place…..

"Where are they?" the host asked, looking at her watch to check the time.

"If they won't appear, let's declare the winner," Mr. Green Wave said, and others supported him. "Yes, you are right. We can't spend all day here."

"Let's wait a few more minutes before we can do that," the host said.

They all sat there, waiting and waiting, but they didn't show up.

"We cannot keep wasting time, so let's conclude this meeting," they began to whisper and mutter amongst themselves.

As the host was about to bring the meeting to an end, Mara walked in. All eyes were on her. "I'm here!" she shouted while raising her files high…..

Mara stood in front of the stage, Ladies and Gentlemen, I am sorry I am late with the presentation, we had a few technical difficulties," she said, smiling nervously. "This is a little bit out of the usual business deal we all know, but I feel that in order to make a business boom, there are places you need to tackle before you achieve that. Today, I present a transformative opportunity that has the potential to uplift our entire business, not just it, but the nation as a whole — The National Infrastructure Development Project."

What a play," one businessman said. "Do you think we meet here to waste money on all those things? What are the government doing themselves?" another said. Almost everyone in the room started laughing at her.

"She must have no experience with how this works," Mr. Green Wave said, and they all giggled even more. "A pure joker she is," he added….

Mara looked around felt the tension in the room and mastered the courage to continue

"This comprehensive effort aims to revamp and modernize Dubai's core infrastructure, including transportation, electricity, healthcare, education, and technology. By investing in the foundation of our nation, we aim to propel economic growth, enhance the quality of life, and position our country as a global player in the coming decades.

Can people travel to see a place when the road leading there isn't good enough? Can people travel when their health isn't good?" she asked, and the whole place was quiet, no one answered.

"I know this may be a deviation from our whole purpose here, but how can we call ourselves businessmen and women when we are afraid to take a risk?" she added.

Given this opportunity to Mr. Max Warren III, it won't just be something that would just benefit our business and later leave and come back here in the next five years to talk about how we can help this country develop, Instead, once we solve the pressing issues at hand within the next five years, we can all return and take pride in what has been accomplished here - not only have we elevated our market position but also improved upon the lives of those who purchase our goods.

They exchanged glances without saying anything before turning their gaze to her.

She went on by giving the benefit

This project will increase economic activity, create jobs, and draw international investments into this country, which will support our businesses here.

A renovated infrastructure would make this country an appealing destination for enterprises and talent.

I urge the board to consider the profound impact the National Infrastructure Development Project can have on this country's future. By investing in the infrastructure, we invest in the prosperity and well-being of the citizens, setting the stage for a thriving and resilient nation. I believe we need to tackle the necessary before proceeding to the next. Thank you," she said and bowed down.
