Chapter 20 - The Only Way

Arriving at the lake, Axel noticed something unusual. Various monsters were seen making camps around the lake area. Axel felt surprised and alert to see monster activity in a place that should not be safe for humans like him.

From a distance, Axel observed carefully. He saw several monsters gathering, building simple tents, and doing other activities such as cooking and speaking their language with each other. Despite his shock, Axel tried to remain calm and gather more information about the situation.

"It looks like they are getting ready for something," Axel thought to himself. "What are they planning here?"

After realizing the danger that might occur around the lake with the presence of monsters, Axel gave up his intention to approach the area around the lake. Carefully, he began to slowly move away from the lake, remaining alert to his surroundings.

Axel decided to look for a water source in another place that was safer and not threatened by the presence of monsters. He treaded carefully, avoiding areas that might be high risk and trying to remain invisible.

On his way, Axel watched every corner of the dungeon carefully, looking for signs of other water sources.

After some time, Axel managed to find another water source in a small cave hidden in the dungeon. The water looks clear and safe for consumption.

"With this, at least I have enough water reserves," he thought with relief.

Axel felt his heart beat fast when a large shadow covered him who had just filled the water. He turned around slowly and felt the presence of a pink orc standing behind him.

Axel's body stiffened as he faced the Orc's imposing-looking figure. He could feel the aura of power and danger emitted by the creature.

"He must be one of those who gathered around the lake," Axel thought to himself, trying to remain calm even though his fear was surging.

Axel realized that he had to act wisely. He didn't want to make a mistake that could have fatal consequences, especially if the orc summoned the monsters around the lake and of course that would be the end for him.

As Axel slowly took out his dagger from its sheath, he tried to maintain a calm and unsuspecting attitude. However, unfortunately, the Orc noticed Axel's small movement. Quickly, the Orc responded by swinging a large club towards Axel who was standing in front of the water source.

Axel, who was alert but still surprised by the Orc's quick reaction, avoided the attack by reflex. He jumped to the side to avoid a large mace that was flying towards him. While doing so, Axel pointed his dagger at the Orc as a defensive measure.

After the huge mace hit the ground hard, creating a boom that echoed in the cave, Axel felt the tension increasing. The strong booming sound might have awakened or alerted the monsters around the lake.

"Damn..." Axel muttered in a trembling voice. He realized that the situation had become more dangerous with the possibility of the monsters around the lake being disturbed by the booming sound.

Axel immediately increased his alertness, ready to face any possibility that could arise. He watched his surroundings carefully, looking for any signs of monsters that might be affected by the sound of the boom.

During his time on the 48th floor, Axel has adopted smart and careful strategies to overcome his shortcomings and continue to progress in his adventure. He chose not to face the monsters directly because of the difficulties he was experiencing, especially with his missing left arm.

Axel takes advantage of his sneaking abilities by stalking monsters that are separated from the group. When the monster was off guard, Axel quickly and precisely attacked the fatal point of every monster he faced.

With this approach, Axel was able to overcome the challenges and increase his level on the 48th floor without facing too great an immediate risk. He uses intelligence and precision to defeat his enemies efficiently, relying on his strategy and skills in scouting and attacking.

In a situation like this, where the only way out seemed to be through direct combat with the Orc figure blocking his path, Axel realized that he had to change his approach. Although he had managed to avoid direct combat so far, now circumstances forced him to act differently.

Axel took a deep breath, trying to stay calm and focused amidst this tense situation. He knew that he could no longer rely on the strategy of lurking and attacking from a distance. This time, he had to face the Orc head-on, even if it meant facing greater risks.

Carefully, Axel used his Appraisal Skill to see the status of the Orc in front of him. He hoped to find a weak point that could be exploited for the fight.

However, Axel was disappointed when his Skill Appraisal Level 1 only displayed the name of the monster without any additional information. He let out a frustrated sigh, realizing that the skill's limitations made it difficult to plan a more effective attack.

"It's useless," Axel muttered to himself, admitting that the information provided by the Appraisal skill at the moment didn't help much in identifying the opponent's weaknesses. Even so, he did not give up and maintained his focus.

Axel's body tensed as he stepped forward to face the Orc blocking his way. He held his breath for a moment, focusing his attention on his opponent standing in front of him in a threatening posture.

The orc looked at Axel with a defiant expression, ready to face the adventurer's attack. In the tense silence, Axel tried to predict the Orc's first move.

Without further warning, the Orc suddenly jumped forward, swinging the large mace he was holding towards Axel. Axel quickly dodged the mace attack nimbly, jumping to the side with quick reflexes. The gust of wind from the mace that passed nearby made him aware of the danger that threatened him. When he glanced at the Orc's impact, he discovered a huge crack in the stone wall that made his heart beat faster.
