Chapter 66 - Chapter 66

It turns out that summoning a demon is not that hard. No special ring from archangel Michael required. Just a few thousand something or more corpses and you're set. Just ignore the completely different power systems and circumstances.

There was a magic circle on the ground and the bodies were all absorbed. There was a bright light that originated from it and moments later a figure rose up. Black hair with a red streak, gold eyes, black sclera, an outfit that exuded fanciness. Yup, Rimuru's number one fanboy and simp has appeared. AKA, Diablo. Well, not now since he's not named. For now, it would be "Noir".

"Oh, how I've been waiting for this day. To finally be able to respond to my master's summon.", he said with a smooth voice filled with joy and reverence towards Rimuru.

'Yeah, I think I'm going to leave. Let Rimuru handle this.', I thought to myself knowing what was to come. If that's his introduction, I'd rather not stick around for whatever else he would say.

"That face you have. Not a single blemish, a perfect ratio, truly a beautiful master I've picked to serve with all my might." This time he was saying some truly…weird things. Actually seeing this in person was different though. He had a starstruck expression as if his life's purpose had been fulfilled or something. He was also…blushing(?) or something, but he was getting off the rails quickly.

Rimuru wasn't doing any better. He was weirded out at his behavior. This is a golden opportunity that I had to take advantage of.

"Hey, Artoria, are demons supposed to act like this or something?", Riimuru asked me a question, but Diablo didn't seem to care, keeping himself solely fixated on Rimuru.

"This demon is a bit…unique as you can see. This is Noir, the primordial black. He's one of the seven primordial demons that existed from the beginning of this world. He's a big deal. He also seems to like you…a lot.", I gave my answer to Rimuru, who was in shock and speechless for a second, but it also got Diablo's attention.

"You seem to be a knowledgeable person to know who I am at first glance. It must come with you being unique. A divine spirit and a dragon, but there's something more going on with you. An interesting individual, but my master, Lord Rimuru, is much more interesting."

Yeah, I expected that. No chance I'll be able to hide anything from him and no more gaslighting or lying to Rimuru. He'll catch on to that real quick. Good thing I can just say I have a skill that lets me see the future. I won't be specific about though. I'll keep it vague.

"Wait, hold on. You're telling me this is supposed to be a primordial demon? Why is he acting like that? Is he…like…you know…like, the way he seems to like me(?) a lot, and…you know what I'm getting at! He doesn't seem all that.", Rimuru's words seemed to hurt Diablo on a physical, spiritual, and astral level. I would say I'm exaggerating, but this is Diablo I'm talking about.

Diablo fell to his knees as if he suffered the greatest defeat and humiliation in his life. He prostrated himself towards Rimuru, begging. "Lord Rimuru, master, please. Give me an opportunity to show you that I'm worthy of being in your service. Even if it's the lowest position, I'll do anything I can!"

This is an even better golden opportunity. Sending Diablo on a task is basically a guarantee that it will be done. This is an opportunity to use him as a problem eraser. Let's see, something that we won't have to deal with later, but not too excessive either. Hmm, I think I got it.

"Rimuru, a bit of advice perhaps? Let him do it. If you need help, I can think of things that will make the future have fewer problems.", I told Rimuru, who seemed to have something else in mind. I'll make sure to get back to that.

"What do you have in mind, Artoria?"

"Before that, you should give him a name first. We can't keep calling him 'demon' and whatnot."

"Yeah, your right. Okay, let me think.", If Diablo wasn't happy before, then he is literally shivering in excitement and joy, barely able to contain himself.

"Your name will be Diablo. Serve me well." There it is. A dark-purple cocoon enveloped Diablo, before it dissipated, revealing a new Diablo. He still looked the same, but his outfit changed. Instead of his fancy and aristocrat-like outfit, it had a more butler feel to it. It wasn't all prim and proper, but it still gave that feeling.

"How marvelous. I thank you for the truly wonderful gift, Lord Rimuru. I promise I won't let you down."

"Yeah, but one thing. You seem to like me, but how far does that go? Like…do you just 'like me' or do you have other thoughts?"

Holy moly, he actually said that. I didn't even have to do anything. He was struggling to get those words out, but he actually did it. I have to say something here.

"Hold on just a moment. I know what you're thinking, Rimuru, but let me tell you something you don't know about primordial demons like Diablo. They don't have a gender. They can take whatever form they want, masculine or feminine. As you can see, if you told Diablo to do something, he would be more than willing and happy to do so. You could even tell him to change certain parts to your liking and he would do it. For example, you could tell him to have…longer and pointier ears, but that's just an example. Do with that information what you will."

I think that worked. Rimuru was in pondering mode. He glanced over at Diablo. I don't know what he was thinking or imagining, but whatever he could come up with in that head of his is probably better than what I could describe.

"You can do that, Diablo?", Rimuru asked Diablo, who was now standing at attention, with his hand behind his back, waiting to be ordered.

"If that is what you want me to do, then yes I can. Do you want me to do that? It would be my utmost pleasure if it meant you being satisfied."

I'm trying here, but sometimes a small chuckle and giggle would pop up that I would disguise as a cough or me clearing my throat, and Rimuru didn't seem to catch on to it. He's really losing it I think.

"Uh…um…uh…I…So, Artoria, would be a good task for Diablo to do? You seem to be more knowledgeable about the world and stuff. What's something he can do?"

You can't run away forever, Rimuru. Sooner or later you must perform an introspection, and confront your own desires and thoughts. You will have to peer into your own subconsciousness and confront those lingering abstractions and emotions to see who you really are.

Wow, that might have been a little dramatic. Anyway, I think I know where to point Diablo towards.

"Well, Rimuru, I suppose you don't know about some people known as the Rozzos?"

Finally, I could relax. I left all the paperwork stuff to Rimuru. I think it was only fair. I commanded and orchestrated two wars in the months he was gone. He can deal with the aftermath. It shouldn't be hard, I told him everything he needed to know.

I went to my house and immediately started looking for Shuna. I really wanted to be with her right now. I just wanted to feel her soft and warm body, her lovely smell, her caring personality, everything about her.

Woah…when did I start feeling such a strong desire for her? This is more than usual. Is this natural?

Anyway, I found her focusing on something. She was at a table, and there were various trinkets scattered about. It was like a wizard studying about artifacts or magic items and stuff.

I went behind her and hugged her. She got taken a bit by surprise because of how focused she was, but she quickly calmed down and she leaned her head to mine.

"What has you so focused, Shuna?"

"I'm practicing making some magic items. What you see is what I've done so far, but it's nothing much, just some small things like rings, necklaces, and other kinds of accessories."

When she finished talking, I gave her a small kiss. It felt much better than normal. She was a little surprised, but she responded back. When it was done, I looked at her and she looked much more beautiful than the last time I saw her.

"You'll make something great one day. I have complete trust in you. Come on, let's eat something and then go to bed. It's my favorite part of the day."

What happened after was pretty normal, we had some dinner while we talked about our day and then we settled in for the night, but there was a certain thought in my mind.

'A ring...Huh.'
