Chapter 58 - Chapter 58

(Clayman's Domain)

Things were not going well for Clayman. Everything he planned was falling apart in ways he couldn't have thought of. First, was Milim. She went and allied herself with the monster town that he was investigating. Then, it was Frey. He had tried threatening her with the appearance of Charybdis to get her to control Milim, but she refused no matter how much he threatened her. And finally, Carrion. Just like Milim and Frey, he also allied with the monster town. At this point, he assumed that they had turned against him. And the common thing he found between all of them, was one knight.

'That damn knight. She's ruined everything. Charybdis was supposed to get rid of that town, but it might as well have been a minor inconvenience for her.' Clayman was pacing around his luxurious office, wine glass in hand. However, any sip he would take seemed to have no flavor.

While in his office a figure appeared suddenly. He had a clown mask on. It was Laplace. "Things don't seem to be going well, Clayman. Any plans you've put in motion seem to fall apart because of her. I would say it's a coincidence that she seems to act in ways that disrupt everything we do, but its happened too often for it to be coincidental.".

"Are you implying that she has some inside information? Is she getting information from from someone?". Clayman clutched his wine glass harder. Frustration and anger built up in him at the thought of someone potentially betraying them.

"Well, she's allied with Frey, Milim, and Carrion and while they might have given her information, it wouldn't explain everything.".

"The only good news so far is that the slime has left that town. This could give us an opportunity.".

"Do what you will, Clayman, but be careful. A storm seems to be on its way.".

It's time for our invasion. Soeui and his team have already left for the Kingdom of Falmuth. Geld and his team have set up defensive positions in case Falmuth attacks earlier than expected even with Souei's sabotage. Benimaru, Hakurou, and Gabiru were already in position, just waiting for my signal for them to rush in. And Shion…she was like an animal just waiting to be let loose from a leash. She was holding her sword with more eagerness than I've seen from her before.

I decided to take Shuna with me, but I made sure she wouldn't get hurt. I met with Kaijin and Kurobe and had them make a sort of armor for her. Well, it was more like a clothing thing. She basically had on the same outfit, but with a magisteel thread in it. And if that wasn't enough I also gave her Avalon. This time instead of just having it equipped on her back, I put Avalon in her. It was a sight to see. She was literally glowing as the process happened. Anyway, with that out of the way, it was time to start. And what better way to start this invasion than a pre-emptive strike?

I took out Rhongomyniad and I started to transform it. The outer shell came apart and pieces of it spread to the side of the lance with equal spacing. Tree-like branches of light filled the space, moving erratically like electricity, holding the whole thing together. I held the lance with both hands, one on the handle and one under its body and then I aimed it into the sky.

"Everyone, once you feel the impact, that will be your signal to start attacking. I will travel to Clayman's castle and confront him myself. Remember to use your potions if you are hurt. And keep this in mind as well. Leave none of your allies behind in a fight.".

With the lance ready, I decided to use the thirteen restraints. Just to see how many it would release. After using the ability, the decision-making process started and I heard 4 consecutive sounds akin to the sound of a chain breaking.

[The battle must be one against evil]

[The battle must not be against Humanity]

[One's comrades-in-arms must be courageous]

[The enemy must not be an elemental]

'4 seals broken. Not bad. Time to unleash it.'.

The lance started humming with more power after the decision-making process was over. The whole lance took a more "holy" and "majestic" color and feel to it. The outer shell expanded again and I smiled knowing that this was going to be a great light show.

"Brace yourselves and hold on to something, everyone.". I gave one last warning to them. I felt the arms of someone hugging me from my side. I looked over and it was Shuna. I let out a smile seeing that. It felt nice.

I put my attention back on the lance and I commenced the attack. The space between the pieces of the outer shells started charging up with a yellow-white glow. I held on tighter just to be safe. Once it was ready I "fired" the lance.

As each beam of magic blasted from the lance, there was a fierce gust of wind accompanying each one. Thanks to my warning, no one was too affected.

Looking at the tens of beams of magic streaking across the sky, I knew our surprise was blown, but that's okay. Each of those beams carries a lot of destruction with it. Watching the beams going through the air and curving downwards, I turned my lance back to normal.

I whistled loudly and then a few seconds later, the sound of a horse galloping could be heard. Dun Stallion came to my side and me and Shuna got on him. I stood there waiting. I saw the beams of light disappear over the horizon and some seconds later, we could feel the earth rumbling due to the almost simultaneous impact.

Immediately, everyone started moving. Gabiru and his men were flying across the sky very fast looking to bomb any enemies they saw. Benimaru and Hakurou's teams also started attacking. Shion also charged in, damaging the ground with the force she was using.

"Come on, Dun Stallion, we shouldn't get left behind. Go forward and charge without a care. I'll deal with any enemies that get in our way. Our goal is Clayman's castle. You'll know it when you see it.".

"With pleasure, master.". Dun Stallion started galloping at full speed. Our invasion was in full effect. No backing out now.

(Clayman's Castle)

Clayman was in planning mode. With the slime temporarily out of the way, he wanted to see what kind of opportunities would present itself. Any plans for a Walpurgis were gone. He had no chance of calling one without the votes of two other demon lords and now he doesn't have a chance at it.

He was trying to think of something when he felt a small rumble. At first, he thought nothing of it, but then it got stronger and more frequent. Unable to ignore it any longer, he rushed to a window and opened the curtain, only to be greeted by the sight of multiple beams of light flying across the sky.

He had a very bad feeling about this. He got away from the window and rushed to another part of his castle seeking safety. While running, he noticed one of the beams of light seemingly headed directly for the castle. Before he could do anything, the beam seemed to fly over the castle from his point of view, but only a moment later, he felt the very ground shake beneath him. Debris and dust were falling from the castle. Some cracks could be seen here and there.

Outside, the beam of light made a partial impact on the castle. It wasn't a direct hit, but the diameter of the explosion still caused damage to the castle. Enough that it would cause the castle to collapse on its own.

Scenes like this were happening all over Clayman's domain. Various military positions, outposts, and fortifications were being attacked all at once. Any sense of order that was present was quickly disrupted. There was a massive scramble everywhere, trying to put together what was happening. Everyone was running around while others were trying to reestablish some sense of order.

Meanwhile, Gabiru and his team were flying through the air, following a route that would take them to where the beams of light struck. That would be where their targets would be. They were going to be the first ones to engage the enemy. Their job being to soften up the targets even further.
