Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Looking at the level of this fight, I realize that I may be a little overkill for someone of Ifrit's level.

RImuru was standing in front of Ifrit while the adventures were grouped up in defense with Ellen doing most of the damage.

I was riding around the field just going in circles while occasionally avoiding the flames thrown out by Ifrit.

I saw Rimuru use the same water blade attack, which was physical water, against a fire spirit. And the outcome was as predictable as it could be. It evaporated when it got close to Ifrit.

Did he not listen to me? I literally told everyone here to use magic and not physical attacks.

I rode up to him in the middle of the fight to talk some sense into him.

"Artoria what are you doing? We're in the middle of a fight here!"

I took my lance, scooped him up, and put him in front of me. I rode out of the way of another attack by Ifrit. He must be blind cause he keeps missing.

"Rimuru, listen to me. First of all, you need a review of elementary science. You need to get a better understanding of your abilities and skills. I'm not trying to call you dumb, but why would you think that physical water would work against Ifrit?"

"I was just trying things out and testing some stuff."

"Rimuru. This is absolutely not the time to be testing stuff. Why are you even trying stuff in the first place? Did you not do that during the time I was gone? I'm sure you have something much stronger than just water. Also, where's Ranga?"

"I uh…Ranga come out here!"

Rimuru bounced off and Ranga came out from his shadow. Rimuru landed on him and he was just in time because Ifrit summoned multiple salamanders around the place.

They were flying, but not high enough that it would be annoying to deal with. I saw Ellen start shooting icicles at the salamanders and I knew what to do.

"Rimuru start figuring things out right now. I'll do something that will help you."

I rode to Ellens's direction quickly. "Hey, you girl!"

Ellen looked in my direction and looked a little ticked off. "My name is Ellen! Not 'girl'!"

"Well 'Ellen', how good is your aim?"

"Why do you ask?"

"I need you to hit Rimuru with your ice magic."

"What! Are you crazy?! That would hurt him!"

"No it won't. Just trust me on this one. I'll work with your teamates to protect you while you do it."

"You have to be the worst teammate ever suggesting me to hit him."

"No. I just know him better than you to know that he won't get hurt. As a matter of fact it will help make this battle easier. Well as easy as it can get, with me here."

Ellen took her staff and started aiming at Rimuru who was going around on Ranga trying to take down the salamanders.

"Hey Rimuru! Think fast!"

Ellen took the shot and I have to say, she is either very lucky or a natural-born sniper. The icicle shot out from her staff and traveled through the air very fast. It passed by some salamanders, narrowly avoiding some limbs and even some breaths of fire. It went past the side of Ifrit and hit Rimuru, who was Ranga while moving very fast.

My warning must have got to him, either that or great sage warned him. Doesn't matter though cause the same result happened. Rimuru absorbed the icicle and I could see from here that wiggling around happy with a new weapon and skill to play around with.

"Looks like the fight here is almost done. Just focus on the salamanders while I take care of Ifrit."

I left Ellen's group and started gaining speed for a charge towards Ifrit. I don't want him to clone himself.

Rimuru was shooting icicles like a machine gun toward all the salamanders in the air, while Ranga focused on dodging any attacks from the salamanders and Ifrit. Those salamanders were falling like flies and Ifrit seemed to have gotten tunnel vision towards Rimuru. Ifrit wasn't focused on anyone or anything else except for Rimuru.

Kind of a little mistake since there is four other people that he's also fighting against. Even more so since there is a divine spirit literally close to him. I don't know how much "pull" a divine spirit has since it's not really a rank of spirit I remember that's a part of this world, but if Treyni's reaction when first meeting me is anything to go by, then I'm really up there in rank.

I'd put myself higher than Ifrit's level. I'm either equivalent to an Elemental Lord at the least, or a step above that at best, at least when it comes to the general hierarchy.

If I wanted to, would it be possible to become a new Spirit Queen or something like that? I know Ramiris is the current Spirit Queen or Elemental Queen or whatever it is. Nah, I'm on track to be a goddess in the future. No need to worry about those kinds of things.

For now, I'll take baby steps and focus on Ifrit here.

He had his back turned towards me which was already a bad move. I finally gained sufficient speed and started my charge towards him. I got my lance ready and as I was charging toward him, I noticed that there were a couple of streaks around the lance. It looked like it was forcing the air to move around it making it look like it had a white aura around it.

I paid it little mind. I will focus on that later.

I was getting closer, but I had another feeling again. Ifrit was about to clone himself.

'Dun Stallion go faster.'

We went even faster and just as he was starting to clone himself, I made contact.

There waa a flash of white light as well as a ripple coming from where I hit ifrit. The clones that were coming out from him were immediately destroyed before they even had a chance to serve their purpose.

There was a chunk taken out of Ifrit that was having a hard time regenerating. Ifrit lay on the floor in pain?! No way Ifrit was in pain. Could he even feel pain?

My lance was still clean. It still had a white and silver glow and color to it. It didn't even look the slightest bit dirty.

Yeah, this lance isn't a usual legend-grade weapon. It must be because it's a divine construct. It might have different or more special properties than a usual magisteel weapon. If this is how it is at legend grade, I can hardly wait for it to evolve.

"Rimuru! Absorb Ifrit while he's down!" I shouted out to Rimuru and he quickly came over and absorbed Ifrit. Shizu's body was left behind and it was clear that her time was coming to an end.

"I could have done that from the start."

"Rimuru. I have to say this. You are stronger than you think. You were overestimating Ifirtit and underestimating yourself. Tell me, were you scared of getting hit by the fire?"

"Yeah, I was a little cautious about it."

"Rimuru. What are your resistances?"

He sat there and pondered and when he finally got it, he shrunk down a little in embarrassment.

"At least you got something out of this little fight. Come on, take Shizu with you, and let's go back to the village. There are some new friends I have to introduce to you."

"What about you? That was a crazy attack there you did at the end."

"Well, I'm going to start practicing my magic. I've realized that I've been neglecting it little bit and not using it to its full potential. My weapons rely on using magic for its full power."

We headed back to the village where there would be some conversations to be had and a tough decision to make.
