"In all matters, deliver judgement from the shadows."
- Codes of the Black Nobility
Do you still believe your Presidents and Prime-ministers decide the fate of your country?
Every significant event in history must've been the will of God or great men, there is no script or prophecy to which the world adheres to?
If you believe that then - good. That's exactly what we want you to believe.
If you don't live in the same dream world as everyone else, I'm sure the curse of being awake is enough to dissuade you from prying further into world affairs. If you did, you would see that our mark is everywhere, from lab-made diseases that wiped out millions to the guided missiles that rained fire in the east. Planes falling from the sky, the motorcycle crash that killed your favourite celebrity, that was us. Market crashes, starvation, population collapse, riots, that was us too. And by ten years old my finger already rested on the trigger that could execute any command I could wish for.
But for what purpose? Any action I take serves a banal end. Land, assets, money, soldiers, kingdoms, all pieces from a game that was solved long ago.
It's boring.
Hey, what would you do if you stood at the top of the world?
Something human like travelling the world. Maybe buying a mansion and packing it with potential suitors. Or would you help the less fortunate? Would you desperately try to solve the world's problems? Most of the world's problems are the result of men trying to find solutions. You may have to fight with others just as powerful as you to get what you want. There's not just one seat at the top after all but a total of thirteen.
Do you have the nerve to send millions of young men to die so you can advance your goals? Or would you go against the code and attack a member of the Black Nobility directly? Though, it's harder to operate in the shadows when your opponents are sharing them with you. Thirteen seats are too many if you ask me.
It should really only just be one.
There's no joy in shepherding the Earth for the benefit of twelve other rulers, I recently vacated my seat. It was a shock to many, a disgrace to some and a death sentence from the one who raised me. But my seat won't remain empty for long. It's not really empty to begin with. The seat is mine and it's waiting until I return from my break. I decided to attend St Sebastian's Academy for Nobility, a private academy only for the elite of the elite. Aristocrats, nobles, supposed leaders, all competing for their place just below the top of the world. They're our finest pieces, direct proxies for engaging in global warfare. And I'll get to be a dreamer like them, and like you.
I'm looking forward to it.
