Chapter 30 - chatper 30: Timeskip

"I woke up, realizing I was in my bed and headed to the lounge room. My mother smiled at me, saying, 'Oh, looks like you're awake. How long was I asleep?' 'A few months, seriously?' I replied.

I sat down on the couch and naturally, a holographic screen was in place of a TV. It looked like the war was about to begin. The first shot was obviously by the US, who had just begun invading. It seems they've deployed Transporter ships and launched a number of soldiers. Those bullets are made out of Adamantite and seem to be enchanted with penetration and aimbot, making them impossible to dodge and easily pierce through defenses. Adamantite has poor Mana conductivity, meaning even though they can easily enchant it using enchantments rather than runedek enchantments, which would be almost impossible to place on Adamantite, the success rate of the activation of the enchantment should be exponentially low.

Oh, I see. The cartridge is made up of the bullet part and the shell part. The shell part is made up of ordinary materials, and then you enchant the shell part but apply the enchantment effects to the bullet part. Then the shell part would disintegrate, being unable to handle even two basic enchantments like that, given that it's just made of ordinary materials. Therefore, you just need to pull the trigger and pour mana into the gun.

Hmm, still, even then the success rate seems to be too high. They're using luck-based magic items, which are illegal in Australia. Hell, just owning one is grounds for execution. The reason is simple: the more lucky you make yourself, the more unlucky you'll be later, and as such, they can cause massive disasters."

"Wait, are those laser guns? That shouldn't be possible. Laser guns consume too much mana for any decent laser weapon. If you have enough mana to use them, you're better off learning magic due to its better versatility. After all, monsters typically have a high resistance or downright immunity to one specific type of damage. That's why mages always focus on all the magics they have an affinity for, rather than just sticking to one. Of course, there are those that are rare, like myself, who only have one affinity. Normally, they'd be screwed if they encountered a monster with high resistance or immunity to the magic they have an affinity for. In my case, my affinity is for composite Magic, a magic that combines multiple magics, and in my mother's case, she's already pushed it to such an extreme that it can no longer be considered lightning. It's so absurdly powerful that it surpasses lightning itself, meaning having a lightning immunity isn't going to help you. You're still going to die if you get hit by one of those, especially considering the attack can even hit the soul.

There's no way an F-ranked person can use a laser gun, and I doubt they would bring in the slaves. After all, every non-Frank in America is enslaved under some excuse that they broke some bogus laws. Whether they actually broke the laws or not, they'll still be accused of doing it so they can be enslaved and used as manual labor and for enchantments to make only F-ranks live super easy and convenient. Though, still, F-ranks account for about 80% of the population in the United States of America, while 20% are just slaves. There's no way they would risks bringing slave after all if the slave collars get damaged. They would likely rebel against them."

"I see the magazines must have a pre-charged up Mana crystal, meaning the Mana Crystal is supplying the enchantments on the laser weapon in order to get it to work. After all, a decently powerful laser weapon would take too much mana for an F-rank to really use it; firing a couple of shots is about the most they could do before they're completely drained.

Is that Sophie, I'm actually adjusting the field of view so that I can see Sophie; the holographic screen is just an illusion linked to a clairvoyance spell, allowing us to observe the battlefield from a far."
