Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Adventurers Academy part 2

"Now we move on to assessing the value of money, or more accurately, how the money is valued. A system created by The Adventurers' Guild, because the complex economic system of the pre-awakened era could be easily manipulated and was unnecessarily complicated. As such, we put in place a system that's both simple and excruciatingly difficult to manipulate. The currency is determined by material value, the number of S ranks produced by a country — even if they move to a different country, they'll be counted in the country they're born in — and finally, the stability of the countrys money. The Australian dollarydoos is the best in the world when it comes to stability, The teacher then pulls out a bronze, silver, gold and Mithril coin the bronze being the largest progressively getting smaller as we reach the mithril coin. This bronze coin is worth 10 dollarydoos, the silver coin is worth 100 dollarydoos , the gold is worth 1000 dollarydoos and the Mithril coin is worth 1 000 000 dollarydoos."The Bank of Australia, since its founding, has had a zero-compromise policy on the quality of its coins, meaning they weren't mixing other metals into the coins. They're all 100% pure, giving them a high material value. But also, each coin is heavily r enchanted, wait what does r enchanted mean some call out, that is just a lazy way of saying runedek enchantment, where was i right, making it difficult to counterfeit. After all, one could easily take a piece of gold and create a perfect replica using Earth Magic. Alas, r enchanted, it's almost impossible to replicate these overkill r enchantments. And because of the bank's zero-compromise policy, the production rate is slow, preventing the market from being flooded with coins. This makes inflation very difficult. The final factor of why your country's currency is so stable is actually very simple: you have the highest concentration of awakened. 90% of the population," he explains. "Even an awakened human lives 150 years, as opposed to the supposed hundred years that an unawakened human or f ranked does. With the longer lifespan, it means that people are trying to make long-term profits over short-term gains. That effectively keeps the markets extremely stable." "We were then escorted outside to a training ground," the instructor then said , "listen up. We'll be learning all the basic magic like summoning water spirits for drinking water, summoning fire spirits to start a campfire, and cleaning magic. Your best friend the cleaning spell is the, most useful spell you'll ever learn in your entire goddamn life. We're gonna be practicing until every single person can use all the basic magics. "The spells are simple enough that even someone who sucks at Magic should be able to learn them, pronto". We will continued to practice until everyone has them down. I already mastered all of them, thanks to my spartan training compliments of my mother. Now that you pieces of shit are finally done with learning basic magic you all barely pass by the way, we'll be learning Mana skin. This involves covering your entire body with mana, greatly enhancing your senses, physical ability, and durability," he said. "For those who prefer to fight with physical combat, this is literally the best magic for it," he said. "Additionally, you could also add other buff-type magics on top of using mana skin, for example, coating yourself in lightning to enhance your speed. Now, we're running drills until everyone has this down." Several hours later, "Come back tomorrow. We're gonna be doing combat training."The next morning, at the training grounds, the instructor smiled. "This is combat training. Lesson one: learn how to fight or get the shit kicked out of you," he said. "Ah, nothing motivates people better than the fear of death or getting the shit kicked out of them." He then summoned a Golem for each of us. Naturally, I bombarded it with fireballs effortlessly, destroying it, but I was hit with a shockwave that came from the instructor, detracting my wings so I could land gracefully on the ground. The instructor then summoned a swarm of Golems. I bombarded them with ranged magic, unleashing flames and lightning. I used mana skin and coated my fists with fire and lightning, slaughtering Golem after Golem at close range. My mother always said that a mage that has no close combat skills is just cannon fodder. At that moment, I created some distance between me and the Golems. From a distance, I looked at Sophie and realized that she was using shadow Spears, and whenever they got close, she would coat herself in shadows as well as use mana skin. She was relentless, but Sophie's Golems were larger. Right, the shadow bind spell does not work well on larger enemies, so she can't stop their movements. Now that I have finally mastered mana skin, I can apply it to one part of my body instead of coating my entire body. This is the advanced application of mana skin. Naturally, it's stronger but leaves the rest of you exposed, which is why you need to apply it in the last fraction of a second before attacking or defending. It does not use much mana; even an F rank has enough mana to maintain mana skin for several days, not that they can use magic, but they can use magic tools. I naturally added the Iron Skin spell on top of that. It turns part of my body into a metallic-like substance, enhancing my defense to another level. After mastering its use with advanced mana skin, I'm able to apply both magics in the last fraction of a second before defending or attacking. I added barrier magic on top of that, and somehow the magics fused together, resulting in something called a turtle shell. The spell was much easier to use and could be applied even faster, allowing me to apply it in the last milliseconds before attacking and defending. Not only that, it was stronger than using all three of the magics that it was made of. Even if I used all three of those spells at once, it would have only 10% of the power of turtle shell.

"Listen to me," the instructor says, while snapping his fingers and causing all of the Golems to disappear. "Everyone is covered in a green light healing all of are injuries," he says. "Follow me," he guides us to where there's quite literally a giant maze. "These blindfolds have r

enchantments on them to seal your senses. This way, we can train your sixth sense by navigating this maze, which is full of non-lethal but extremely painful traps. Also, the maze and the traps randomly rearrange themselves, so memorization is useless. We'll be spending half the day on combat training and the other half in the maze for the next seven years."
