Chapter 15 - Prepare

A few days later, Glen started to get used to living in the maple family castle.

Now he seems busy seeing the lives of the people in his city.

He could clearly see the anxious faces of the people in the city. This was of course understandable due to his decision to become a Baron.

Now we are waiting for a reply letter from Marquis Philips. After the letter arrives, Glen's coronation ceremony as Baron will be carried out immediately.

And this of course makes the city residents happy on the one hand, while on the other hand of course they are worried about the policies that Glen will bring in later.

Will they continue to experience the comfortable life they currently have, or will changes occur where the policy will be changed by Glen.

"The worries they felt were very reasonable, they were of course afraid of returning to life in a previous era, where the Baron at that time was not good enough to rule them.

And after decades of being led by your parents, their lives are gradually changing for the better.

"Until now, it could be said to be very different compared to before," Jill whispered to Glen beside her at this time.

Both of them appear to be wearing normal clothes with their faces disguised by Jill's magic.

Glen is very aware that as a direct leader he knows his weaknesses, namely that he cannot fully trust his subordinates.

Because he must be able to ensure that the orders given are carried out properly, from top to bottom so that there are no deviations in them.

It is common knowledge that sometimes a leader's policies are not fully implemented or can be said to change when this happens in society.

This of course cannot be separated from the disgraceful actions of several officials and also a handful of groups who took advantage of this for their own interests.

So even though he received a report about Maple City's excellent development, he didn't necessarily believe the report but chose to check it directly.

And now that he checked it directly, it could be said that he was quite satisfied with what he saw at the moment.

Because the basic needs of the entire population can be said to be almost equally met, from his observations in the city he found that the prices of basic food needs were relatively cheap and very affordable.

On the other hand, the need for clothing and housing can be said to be quite fulfilled, although it can be clearly seen that there is a very striking difference.

Between ordinary people and rich people and also existing nobles, however, this is understandable because this cannot be changed even if Glen wants it.

As for other aspects such as education and law enforcement, from what you can see he feels that so far everything is going very well.

So after he was satisfied touring the city with Jill, he decided to return to his castle.

#######

A few days later, in his office, Glen, who was currently dealing with many problems in his city, began to feel that he was very unlucky.

"Damn...I thought being a noble would be great and worry-free, but now...looking at the pile of documents I have to agree to...I realize...this is so tiring!!!" Frustrated with what he had faced in the past few days, Glen knew he couldn't continue like this.

"I have to form a team and make them work efficiently, let me just look at the general direction and make decisions on big and important things" Glen made a determination and then his team began to be formed.

He realized that the system of working in the wizarding world was quite inefficient, where small and large things had to be approved by him, which basically greatly affected the development of his city and also himself.

Take for example, the land and house purchase policy must be signed by oneself, on the other hand, if someone is deemed guilty and will be sent to prison, they must sign again.

Not to mention other trivial things really made him confused, and this couldn't continue.

And after a few days, he succeeded in forming a team consisting of dozens of people with good abilities.

To help him make various policies and decisions, on the other hand, complicated bureaucratic problems have been shortened and this is very helpful.

Of course he asked Jill to watch over them to avoid anything untoward such as taking advantage of the power he gave them.

"Sir...Lydia's voice was heard when Glen was holding a meeting with his team.

"What's wrong Lydia??" Glen asked.

"Your appointment letter has arrived!!" Lydia exclaimed excitedly.

" What??? Has it arrived???" Surprised and happy, Glen asked.

"Yes, the gate guard just reported that Marquis Philip's three envoys have brought your letter of appointment from Her Majesty the Queen," answered Lydia again.

" Good!!! Then let's end the meeting here!!" Glen immediately broke up their meeting.

And followed Lydia to the castle living room where she was ready to receive the appointment letter.

####

A neatly dressed and charming male messenger was standing in the middle of the living room reading Glen's letter of appointment.

On the other hand, Glen and the other members present in the room bowed in respect when the letter of appointment was read (this is etiquette when the queen's decision is read in public).

"Glen maple, from the noble family of Baron Maple, the biological and first child of the late Baron junior Maple, is hereby given the mandate and order from Her Majesty the Queen of the Lion kingdom.

To serve and be loyal to the queen and the Lion kingdom, dedicating himself to serve as the successor Baron of the 7th maple family.

Today, June 7 1445 Venus, was appointed as the new ruler of the entire Baron Maple region." The messenger's voice stopped and Maple was invited to take the decree.

"Congratulations Baron Glen on his appointment" said congratulating Glen as a messenger from Marquis Philip.

"Thank you, messenger," replied Glen and was then greeted by the happy voices of the servants there.

One week later, Glen was appointed as the new Baron of the maple family.

The atmosphere in the city now seems very cheerful, due to the new policy that has been issued by Glen.

In order to please his people, he reduced taxes to only 30% from the previous 60%, then he made magic treatment free for all maple residents for 1 month.

And subsidized school fees for the common people, and held a celebration party for 3 days in Maple City to celebrate his appointment.

Which once again creates a new wave of fun in maple city.

Now on June 14, 1445 Venus, he received another encouraging news, where he received an acceptance letter from the magic school in the Lion kingdom.

Looking at the letter in his hand at this moment, Glen knew that real life in the wizarding world had just begun.
