The rain poured heavily, not only drenching the ground but also the air, now feeling humid accompanied by its distinctive smell. Unfortunately, Ailord was in a cell and couldn't experience the long-missed scent, only able to smell the copper and machinery at work. He couldn't feel the cold wind, just a hot room filled with steam that made him sweat a little.
Who knows how long it had been since the battle ended, but it was already apparent that they were close to Copperhaven, especially hearing the cheers of the ship's crew, now happy to be returning home.
Ailord longed to feel it, to feel the same way when you can naturally smile because you realize home is near. Who knows when the last time he felt that was. Most likely since his mother's departure.
He hid his head between his chest and legs, closing his eyes, trying to drive away the uncomfortable feeling now filling his heart.
