Chapter 89 - Chapter 89

The towering samurai appeared in front of Douma and swung his sword at him. "Genkakuna Jiritsu-sei Style Two: Tamashī no naka ni aru kyōfu!" Ryukushu shouted, the entities appeared again followed by the surging energy that rushed to Douma at the same time.

Douma lost his balance in the sky. The surging energy's effects were still lingering for quite some time, it felt like thorns constantly digging deeper into his skin, spreading numbing spores that also affected his motivation; the blonde was starting to feel his energy levels fluctuating. His body wanted to give in to the pain gnawing at him so the opponent would spare his life.

But he wasn't going to let that happen, he couldn't. Ryukushu had no intention of keeping him alive after this battle, the samurai had clearly stated that every battle he was involved in will always have the same outcome which was part of his ambition. This same ambition that took the lives of many and used their skulls as the base of his title since death.

The ghostly monster flew above the explosions and dove towards Douma, noticing the effects Ryukushu's ambush was starting to have on his well-being. It opened its large mouth again, anticipating the skull-crushing bite.

Douma saw the slithering ghostly figure at the corner of his eye and immediately released his grip on the chains. He spun around and sliced the entity into two with his radiating golden fan. The ghostly monster paused in shock, its split body slowly dispersing into particles that vanished.

The minute Ryukushu sprang up behind him, Douma fired his iridescent ray directly at the samurai's chest dragging him away. Ryukushu screamed in agony from the direct hit that left a scorching wound.

"Well you sure have some tricks up your sleeve. I should've known but I'm not entirely surprised. Unless this was a match with a mere human, I'll have to be on high alert in case you decide to do something like that again." Ryukushu's voice slowly transitioned into a deeper and threating tone.

"This battle is nearing its end whether you like it or not," Douma replied raising his fan. "It can't go on forever."

Douma's golden fans clashed with Ryukushu's large and heavy sword. They continued slashing each other's blades until Douma decided to back away and unleash his power while Ryukushu was still wounded from his ray.

"Freezing Clouds!" The gust of glacial frost struck Ryukushu who quickly escaped the ferocious cold and regenerated.

Ryukushu plunged his sword into Douma's side causing him to twist in pain and stumble on the uneven part of the ground. Gritting his teeth, Douma sprang back up and blocked Ryukushu's sword with the fan on his left.

The strange uncanny place began to collapse from Douma and Ryukushu's powers. Its landscape disappeared leaving both of them surrounded by dark purple fumes.

Ryukushu struck Douma's fan with his sword determined to keep this up until his opponent surrenders; the samurai could go on with the sword slashing endlessly he'd never run out of energy at all, that didn't exist in his dictionary.

Douma concentrated on the movements of Ryukushu's sword he stealthily flicked the weapon whenever it was about to descend.

Until Douma and Ryukushu managed to get a hold of each other's weapons. The large sword was now trapped between the golden fans. All three weapons were unable to move away from their spot and if one of them does it would most likely determine the winner of battle, within the range there was no doubt the blow from either one of the weapons was going to be fatal.

"If you continue standing here you won't get to smell the slightest bit of honor in your efforts," Ryukushu said pushing his sword further down while keeping a lookout for any suspecting movements from Douma's fans. "But I highly doubt you will be able to, this is a cry for desperation that I've seen many times throughout my years of bloodshed. At this rate you're not going to make it, you might as well accept the fact that you're going to be shred into pieces no matter what you do."

"Oh shut up! Your words mean nothing to me when I've already put you in your place." Douma pushed Ryukushu and his sword away with his fans. The samurai narrowed his glowing red eyes at the blonde, displeased by his response.

The large sword lost contact with the golden fans from both side's weakening grip. At that instant, Douma raised his fan and sliced through Ryukushu's armor, bruising the side of his neck with immense pain that started to spread.

Ryukushu dropped his sword from the sudden shock and clutched the side of his neck groaning and muttering to himself. Douma watched the samurai crouch down in disbelief, it seems he couldn't handle the churning pain despite acting so bold and terrifying, claiming to be this feared dictator who never fell except to the one who had slain him.

And now history was about to repeat itself. Douma saw the large sword lying a few feet away from Ryukushu who didn't realize he had dropped it that far.

Douma picked up the sword and narrowed his eyes at the panicking Ryukushu on the ground. "What do you think you're doing?! Get your filthy hands off my sword, you're not worthy!" He growled.

Studying the sword's details, Douma thought of something. If the sword was truly as powerful as it seemed than it didn't need to be held back by Ryukushu's abuse. Like any other sword, the person who made it probably didn't intend for it to be used this way. Ryukushu's wrath ends here.

Douma leaped up and raised the sword above Ryukushu who was still on the ground. "Vast Noble Redemption!" The divine powers summoned by Douma transformed the sword into glorifying silver that was clear of any impurities. Blue flames of energy engulfed the sword that was getting closer to its previous bloodthirsty user.

The blonde swung the sword at Ryukushu, slicing the samurai's side. Ryukushu screamed as the blue flames from the sword began spreading throughout his body especially the area where he got hit.

"Who do you think you are? Taking away my sword just like that and everything I worked hard to achieve since the start of this battle! I should have known you were up to no good with those notorious tendencies of yours." Ryukushu's body began disintegrating starting with his side that was badly wounded. "What is someone like you doing on Earth of all places..."

That was the last of Ryukushu as he vanished. The dark purple fumes subsided, revealing the familiar surroundings of the Hasu Mountains. The first thing that came to view was the house and the barn where Douma encountered the chickens and roosters.

Douma glanced at his new weapon for a while. He then kept it and looked ahead to ensure nothing was affected by the battle.

The chickens and roosters watched the blonde leave the area that fell quiet once again.
