Chapter 5 - Living With The Aftermath

Goran's fleet stopped next to the wreckage of Barbarian's flagship, and his marines were sending the pirates who were lucky enough to survive into a transport ship that had just arrived, intending to send them to the nearest imperial prison.

Although Goran destroyed the flagship of the famous Barbarian Pirate this time, he was not happy at all because he just learned from the captured pirates that Barbarian had escaped before the battleship exploded.

Although Goran's search team had been searching the meteorite belt, he also knew that there was little hope of finding the bloody pirate.

Another thing that made Goran unhappy was that the civilian spaceship blocking the pirate ship, the, Flying Raven, that was sunk by his own missiles, turned out to be spacecraft of an imperial noble.

Although this nobleman was just a declining baron, unlike common people, a nobleman was a nobleman. If the leaders in the parliament became aware that he accidentally killed a baron, it could be expected that his military career would end here, and he would only be an idle playboy from then on.

However, this was not what Goran wanted, so he would not allow this to happen. He explicitly ordered his trusted lieutenants to erase the identification information sent by the Raven before it was destroyed. For the officers on the fleet, Goran had unified the caliber and strictly ordered them to only say that the pirate's missiles sank the Flying Raven.

After all, Barbarian's flagship did launch a torpedo and hit the Flying Raven. Goran was not worried that his troops would betray him, but now he was worried that other witnesses would not cooperate. Yes, there were still three witnesses to this battle. And these three witnesses were now waiting in the conference room on the cruiser.

Bob witnessed the whole process of the sinking of the Raven through the glass of the escape pod, and his tears kept flowing down. They were later discovered by a search force from the Imperial fleet.

At first, these soldiers thought they were pirates, but when Bob showed the identity documents of the Raven family, the captain of the search team suddenly changed his attitude towards them. After repeated notifications, Bob and the two children were picked up by the cruiser.

After the military doctor on the ship conducted a comprehensive examination of the three of them and determined that they were all fine, Bob and the children were invited to the conference room on the battleship. An officer who sent them to the conference room told them that Fleet Commander, General Goran Besman wants to see them.

In the conference room, little Angel held Bob's clothes and sat next to him, swinging her feet gently back and forth. Little Linley was held in Bob's arms. The little guy sucked his fingers and fell asleep. Bob was a little envious of the young master's carefree life.

Suddenly, Bob felt the corners of his clothes being pulled down a few times. He gently turned sideways, and looked at Angel: "Miss, what's the matter?"

"Uncle Bob, why haven't mom and dad come yet?" Angel raised her head and stared at Bob. When they were at home, Wilbur asked them to treat Bob as a family member, so Angel called Bob her uncle since she was a child.

"Your dad and mom went to a far away place for an important business." Bob couldn't bear to tell little Angel the truth, and he didn't want to hurt this cute little girl.

"Oh! When will they come home? My brother and are already missing them." Angel continued to ask.

"Well...they will be away for a long time..." Bob was a little unsure of how to answer. He felt that his heart was being squeezed by a pair of hands, and he cried out loudly. "For now, you'll have to take care of your little brother."

Just then, the door to the conference room opened and an officer walked in.

After entering Goran saw three survivors sitting on the chairs. He walked straight up to them, knelt down, touched the little girl's head, and then looked at the man - the ID showed that he was the baron's butler. "Are you all okay? If you need anything, please let me know."

"Thank you, General. My young lady and young master are both very well. They were examined by a doctor just now, and they had a hearty meal afterwards. We are all very satisfied." After hearing his question, Bob nodded slightly and then answered slowly.

"Very good! For these two nobles, although we are on a warship, I will still do my best to let them get the treatment they deserve as important guests." Goran seemed to be satisfied with Bob's answer .

"Thank you again for your generosity, General!" said Bob.

"By the way, I invited you here to tell you that I am extremely sorry for the misfortune of Baron Raven and his wife. They were unfortunately killed by the torpedo of the hateful Barbarian Pirate. My condolences." Goran paused and stared intently into Bob's eyes.

"Yes...the pirate attack..., General, you are right, the baron and his wife were indeed killed by the hateful pirates. On behalf of the young lady and young master, I accept your condolences for our misfortune. At the same time, I also hope that you and the imperial military can eliminate these pirates as soon as possible and avenge us."

Goran listened to Bob's answer, and nodded in satisfied acknowledgement. He saw the man in front of him displayed a series of expressions from surprise to anger to calmness. Goran was really satisfied with the butler's intelligence, and felt that the purpose of his trip had been achieved.

"Okay, I have other things to deal with. You know, after all, we just eliminated a group of pirates." After Goran said that, he turned and walked towards the conference room door. Halfway through, he stopped again and looked back. Bob said, "I will submit a pension application to the military department for you, to cover the kids welfare." After that, he walked out of the conference room.

Watching Goran leave, Bob took a deep breath. "Yes, the master and his wife died because of pirates, and it was the pirates who killed them!" Looking at little Linley in his arms and little Angel beside him, Bob decided that this was the truth, and he would not tell them the other truth.

On the same day, Goran sent a special envoy to see Bob and the others to Mureta 3, and escort them directly to the manor that Wilbur asked his cousin to buy for him. Bob built a cenotaph for the master and his wife at the Raven Manor.

A few months later, the pension that Goran mentioned was also paid out, which was still a large amount of money. This money would help the two surviving children of the Raven family to sustain themselves at least until adulthood.

Looking at the young master and young lady, Bob sincerely prayed that the master and his wife, who had gone to the place beyond, could bless the two children to grow up safely.

Goran Besman was awarded the Imperial Order of Knights by the Emperor for his meritorious service in suppressing pirates.

Along with other pirates, Barbarian also disappeared for a period of time after escaping back to his secret base.

Everything seemed to have returned to calm.

This year was 3736 of the galactic calendar.
