Raphael's POV
One of the boys turned around to see chains forming from the blood spilt around the basement, but before he could even move or react..H-He burst into a pool of blood.
'We poked the wrong nest...' I thought,
Panic surged through me as one of the boys hurriedly pulled out a coin-shaped object and clicked a button. The coin began to glow and floated into the air, emitting loud siren noises. My face turned ashen as I realised the alarm had been triggered.
"Fly, Thunderbird!" I shouted, clinging to the blue bird's large body. The Thunderbird soared into the sky, but a blood chain followed us, wrapping around its legs.
Stuck in the air, the bird flapped its wings desperately against the wind, screeching in pain as its feathers were damaged.
This fucker.
My fear intensified at the thought of becoming dead meat. In my panic, I jumped from the bird's back, using it as a springboard when two white wings, clad in thunder, sprouted from my back.
I jumped two feet into the air, and when I looked down, I saw that the chains had stopped pursuing me. They had shifted their focus to the nearest enemy: the boy fighting on the ground.
Oslo was nowhere to be seen; it seemed he had fled. The chains, now free of their previous target, redirected their attention to me.
Two more chains formed as an electric bulb inside the basement lit up. It was as if the place had been washed in blood. Oslo, who was supposed to be fighting the golem, had awakened the gift of invisibility, making his escape easier. As a result, all the chains were now targeting me.
I fluttered my wings hard, trying to distance myself from the chains. I flew in a zigzag pattern to confuse them, but two more chains started coming towards me. A lightning field spread out around me, disintegrating every chain that entered its radius.
"Hahahaha..." I laughed maniacally, turning around to make one final attempt to kill Caedes. I had lost all reasoning, driven only by the need to finish him off. He was dead meat.
Oslo reappeared behind Caedes, accompanied by a golem summoned by one of the other boys. Together, they punched Caedes on the back of his head. Caedes flew through the air, crashing into the debris of the underground compartment.
Caedes groaned, clutching his head, stunned by the attack. I glared at Samuel, who had arrived late. My irritation was palpable.
"What took you so long? If you had run away, I would have made sure to treat you 'nicely'." I demanded.
"I-It's not like that, Raphael! I was just scared and subconsciously moved away, but see- I came back to help you!" Samuel stuttered nervously, trying to straighten his dishevelled clothes.
"I'll decide what to do with you later. Let me deal with him first!" I snapped.
"Now then, let the game begin!" I declared, golden light enveloping my body with engravings as my eyes glowed with the same hue.
The room fell eerily silent, except for the sound of ragged breathing near the debris where Caedes lay.
"Lightning Descent," I intoned solemnly, raising my finger upwards. Everything around us came to a halt.
Rumble.
The entire underground compartment was illuminated by a thunderous sound as the roof split open. A bolt of lightning struck Caedes.
"Aaahhh!" Caedes screamed, his body convulsing. He smashed into the walls and debris, but the pain only intensified. His body was severely burned, barely recognizable.
After what felt like an eternity of screams, The boy looked at himself—a bloody mess, unable to move. The scent of iron filled the air as I teleported beside him. Bending down, I drew my dagger and aimed it at his figure.
For the first time in years, I could feel his fear. Caedes was scared!
"Beg," I commanded.
Caedes, trembling and desperate as he was, begged. His pleas were a pathetic sight, but I knew this was my plan all along. I slashed his throat, watching with satisfaction as his pleas were ignored. I smiled at the dying boy.
"Try begging now, oh great Caedes," I taunted.
As the light faded from his eyes, I could see the resolve in Caedes—if given another chance, I'm sure he would have slashed my neck as well. But now, his heart had stopped beating. He was dead.
"There's something we don't know about Caedes' genes," I mused aloud. "Either the reports were wrong, or it's related to his origins. There must be something we're missing..."
A sword appeared in front of me, hovering in the air. I grabbed it and brought it down upon Caedes, slashing open a huge wound in his chest. I continued to slash, disappointed that there was no blood—most of it had evaporated due to the lightning.
"Raphael, hurry! Three people have just entered our 50-kilometer perimeter because Oslo pressed the emergency button," someone shouted.
My face scrunched up in frustration. I quickly stood up and glanced around, passing Samuel a zip lock bag and ropes to wrap Caedes' body. I ordered him to run to the seashore and dispose of the body deep in the ocean.
Samuel nodded and walked toward Caedes, wrapping him in the bag before hurrying to the exit that led to the seashore.
"Just go and dispose of his body. I'll catch up after I erase all evidence of our arrival with my lightning attacks!" I ordered.
In a few minutes, Samuel was running along the moonlit sand towards the ocean. As he levitated with the blue locket around his neck, he floated over the water, hugging the black bag tightly.
After a while, Samuel was seen floating above the ocean, opening the zip lock bag and dropping Caedes into the water. Guilt clouded his judgement, but who would dare oppose someone like me, especially a noble child as powerful as myself?
