[In the Celestial Domain.]
Roger sat down looking at a small mirror, his eyes glued to Kenjaku's figure within.
Unbuckling the top few buttons on his shirt, Roger leaned closer to the mirror and picked up a cigar, snapping his grizzlies fingers to light it.
Swooshhhhh....
Blowing out a plume of smoke, Roger slicked his hair back, his eyes glued to the scene of Kenjaku defeating Liu Zhigang.
"How...nostalgic. Fate is a cruel mistress."
Swooshhhhhh...
Roger looked at Kenjaku's spear, his ability to control the beasts around him, the power to control the sky and the ocean...and he couldn't help but chuckle.
"To think he would come to possess the same Authorities as his father. Control the sky and the oceans, the land will have no choice but to obey. That's what ■■■■■■ used to say."
A sense of sadness washed over him when he realized he still couldn't even say his lord's name, the name of the Axis.
After Kenjaku and his father had rebelled against the Celestial Palace, their names and memory were conceptually banned from the Celestial Domain.
Only a select few who were powerful enough could ignore that ban. In their domain, only Roger remembered their real names and who they really were.
Looking at a golden runic ring on his finger, a self deprecating laugh escaped his lips.
"You told me to give this to him when I think he's become a man capable of living on his own. You also said, that when that time comes, this family will meet its end."
Stretching his hand out to the side, a bottle of alcohol levitated from the counter into his grip. Calmly opening the bottle, Roger took a long swig, slamming the bottom of the bottle down on the ground when he was done.
"The way he's looking now, my friend, is like I'm looking at the spitting image of you when you were younger. You tried your best to seperate him from yourself, but in the end, fate had other plans. He even wields a trident. Ha."
Roger took one long look at the domain around him. Since the First Son came back to life, he had done so much for them.
Giving them their divine power back, restoring life to the domain. Young souls were being born there everyday.
It hadn't looked so good in a long time.
But...
"This won't last much longer. I can smell it in the air...the fires of war approach us. The Celestial Palace will not allow us to prosper. By the time you come back from that world, ■■■■, everything might be destroyed."
GULP!
Finishing the entire bottle, Roger threw it to the side and looked at the runic ring on his finger, continuing, "Your father left the ultimate gift behind. Allow me, an old friend, to leave something behind as I die too."
--------------------
Coming out of a claw-shaped tear in space, Kenjaku emerged in Brazil, standing in the sky above the beautiful country. Feeling the wind blow through his hair, Kenjaku closed his eyes and linked his senses to all avian life within the country, using their eyes as his.
It wasn't long before he had found his target through the eyes of a pied crow sitting on an electrical line close to his house.
"There you are, Jonas."
Jonas was the sixth strongest hunter in the world. The Brazilian government had been doing everything they can to prop him up to the world recently in an effort for him to be recognized as a national-level hunter.
He certainly had the strength to qualify. The Rulers fragment within him made sure that was the case.
But...
"I have no desire to fight him head on. Compared to Liu Zhigang, he's just a pup. He lacks the edge, the skill. Not worth wasting my time on."
Fully pulling his arm back with Longinus in his grip, Kenjaku locked onto Jonas like an eagle, his eyes unable to leave his target, even from halfway across the country.
BOOM!
The sky cracked as Kenjaku stepped forward, the atmosphere trembling from his overwhelming strength.
SWOOSH!
The man hurled Longinus with all of his might, the weapon dying the sky red as it moved towards its target.
Absurd amounts of wind pressure accumulated around it as it flew, causing borderline hurricane force winds to strike any area it had the unfortunate event of flying across.
Within moments, the trident was within 50km of Jonas.
It was only then that he managed to sense it.
40km.
"Shit!"
Jumping up from the comfy chair in his mansion, Jonas activated his Spirtiual Body Manifestation, using all of his speed to sprint out of the house.
20km.
'The amount of mana coming from that direction is unreal. Someone's really attacking me in my own country? Damn! Damn! Damn!'
5km.
Jonas didn't want to go down like this. Using all of his mana, he conjured several giant walls of runic circles that acted as the ultimate defense against all types of attack.
With this, he was even able to defend against an S-rank boss monster in the past. In his mind, there was no way this could fail.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! BOOM!
The magic circles shattered like glass as Longinus destroyed everything in its path, the weapon piercing Jonas's body with overwhelming force.
His mansion and everything within a 10 kilometer radius disintegrated into nothingness as the heavenly might of Longinus surged through the area.
This type of destruction was different.
It didn't completely destroy a large part of the country like the attack used on Liu Zhigang, but the effects on the opponent were just as potent.
Kenjaku was getting better at handling Longinus' power. At times, it was as if he was born to wield such a weapon.
"Why...me...?"
Those were Jonas' dying words as his body laid impaled in the giant crater where his mansion used to exist, the gold trident stained with his blood.
Kenjaku appeared in a flash of red lightning, grabbed Longinus and absorbed Jonas' biomass along with the Rulers shard.
"Why do you all die so easily? The title of S-rank has lost its meaning."
The man was even more disappointed when once again, this didn't force any kind of evolution.
"I just need to kill something stronger than myself. Hm. Maybe I should-"
The sounds of flapping wings interrupted Kenjaku's thoughts as two ravens flew in a circle above him.
"Hm..."
With his thoughts, he called them down, causing them to land on his shoulders.
'Out of all the birds in the vast skies, this species seem to have the deepest connection with me.'
Glancing down at his fur cloak, he saw Zaiga's head and continued, 'It's the same with the beasts of the earth, I'm linked to them all, but my deepest connection is with the wolves. But...'
Turning his attention to the vast waters of the Atlantic Ocean surrounding Brazil, there was something different about the creature's under this tranquil surface.
'...they feel as if they are part of my very soul. I can hear their thoughts, feel their hearts, and understand every cell that composes them. Just like Antares Dragon Army, or the Rulers Heavenly Army, I can feel that my ancient legion is down there, in the depths of the ocean...waiting for my call. I wonder, how will they respond.'
