"Gruagghhg!!"
The spider immediately flipped over and started crazily swiping it's legs at anyone it's eyes could see.
Members of the group started dying left and right as they couldn't keep up the overwhelming speed the spider possessed.
Those the spider didn't kill, knew they couldn't survive. So in an act of desperation, they turned their attention to the source of their problems, Kenjaku and Jinwoo.
'Even if we all die here today, we need to take at least one of those brats to he'll with us!'
Dongsuk looked at his remaining two comrades who thought the same thing in this moment.
They dodged and defended against the spider, not attacking in the slightest to make sure they don't draw it's attention. After all, the only people actually fighting the spider were Kenjaku, and Jinwoo.
'They might be impressive...but I don't believe an E-rank and a D-rank is all it takes to take down a C-rank boss! Even if they do...they'll be so tired after that killing them will be easy!'
Dongsuk set his plan in motion as he watched from the side, waiting for them to make a mistake.
But unfortunately, he had no idea who he was dealing with.
Kenjaku and Jinwoo fought the spider together, the two moving so fast that the creature could barely keep up with them.
Jinwoo's fighting style resembled an assassin, using a dagger while relying mostly on his speed and agility to land hits.
Kenjaku was reminiscent of a wild beast. He dove into the spiders attacks recklessly, seemingly having no care in the world for any damage his body took.
Kenjaku used the walls around the cave to his advantage, bouncing off of them to increase his speed and momentum mid-battle.
"SCRZZZ!!"
With a manic screech, the spider shot out a gigantic net of thick webbing, covering the entire boss arena with it.
"I'll just go through it."
Kenjakus's hands turned into large, grotesque claws as he jumped forward with all his might, cutting through the webbing with incredible ease.
The spider immediately thrusted it's thick, spear-like legs at Kenjaku, hoping to impale him.
"That's all you got?"
Shooting out small amounts of biomass from each limb, Kenjaku seemingly pushed off the air, allowing him to send his body over the spider's legs.
SLASH! SLASH!
Kenjaku cut off two of it's front legs, causing the creature to lose its balance.
Retracting his claws, Kenjaku grabbed the two legs he just cut off, air dashed over the spider's body, and air dashed down with as much momentum he could.
"It's over."
"SCRZZZ!!"
After Kenjaku pierced it's body with its own legs, the pain caused it to go into a state of desperation, resulting in the spider throwing Kenjaku off of its body and spitting green acid everywhere it could.
At whoever it could.
Jinwoo barely managed to dodge it due his instincts, but Kenjaku got caught head on, as most of its fury and ire was focused towards him.
"Kenjaku!"
Thinking that Kenjaku was about to die, Jinwoo rushed at the spider, dodging any attack the spider could throw at him while delivering critical blows to it.
As Jinwoo distracted it, Kenjaku got up from the ground, drenched in acid.
He could feel his skin and bones melting. The pain was so excruciating that most people would die from the shock of feeling it alone.
But Kenjaku pushed forward, his mana soaring as he jumped back into the heat of battle.
'My body will evolve and transcend past this. Such an attack cannot stop me.'
Kenjaku brought his claws back out, his legs bulging as he looked at the spider's pituful state.
"Time to hunt!"
WHOOSH!
The spider screamed and screeched in agony as Kenjaku slashed at every part of its body that he could.
Kenjaku chopped off all its legs, leaving the creature immobile, while he burrowed into it's body, slashing and ripping at anything that entered his sight.
On the outside, Jinwoo targeted a critical weak point, the spider's eyes, his dagger glinting as he stabbed them viciously.
At this point, the spider was completely defeated.
It had no way to fight back against the two predator's hunting it. The boss battle was over.
Moments later, as the spider took it's last breath, Kenjaku emerged from its thorax, completely covered in the creature's blood and destroyed organs.
'Kenjaku...what a monster. There's no way someone like him just came here to fill in. What is his goal?'
Even though they just fought together, Jinwoo was watching every move Kenjaku made. This man was too much of an anomaly.
Now that the boss had been defeated and everything quieted down, Kenjaku sensed the three remaining hunters of the original group approaching them.
But he paid them no mind. After all, Jinwoo was already waiting for them.
He was focused on something else.
'I wonder what I would get if I absorbed this spider's body. I could feel every cell in my body telling me to consume it. An overwhelming hunger...that wants to consume everything in this dungeon. I want to release it, but...those kids need to leave first.'
Kenjaku glanced back at Jinwoo just in time to see him beheading Hwang Dongsuk. He was the last of the strike squad. Now, it was only Kenjaku, Jinwoo and Jinho.
"Jinwoo, you can take the mana crystals and the essence stones. I'll take the body of this spider. Deal?"
Jinwoo, seemingly a little colder now after killing for the first time, gave a short answer.
"Sure."
The duo gathered up everything they could and delivered a final greeting to Kenjaku before they left. There was a built in time limit for the dungeon gate to close after the boss had been defeated.
The limit was an hour, and 30 minutes had already passed.
The moment that Kenjaku sensed they were far enough away, a red aura surged across his body as he completely let the virus out.
Innumerable tendrils shot out of his body, consuming the spider and the bodies of the dead hunters in the room with incredible speed.
But they didn't stop there. Any organic biomass within reach was immediately located and consumed.
It was as if the virus was sentient.
Feeling the heavy influx of biomass, Kenjaku used all of his will to compress it into himself, his cells vibrating with excitement at the new additions to his being.
BOOM!
His back suddenly burst open as six spiked spear-like appendages made of hardened tendons emerged. The appendages carried a strange flashing red hue that was similar to the flashes one could faintly see in his body.
Even the tips seemed to be made of metal.
'This is a direct upgrade to the legs the spider had. Heh...I can't wait to test these out.'
About 25 minutes later, in front of the dungeon gate, multiple figures in suits could be seen standing there, seemingly waiting for someone to emerge.
'Out of 13 people, only 3 survived? And the last three didn't even leave as a group...why did they leave one hunter behind? This whole thing is suspicious.'
One of the suited men, who seemed to be the leader, stood there pensively. He was convinced that some foul play was at work. But the only problem was the surviving hunters were two D-ranks and an E-rank.
'There's no way they could take eleven other hunters stronger than them. It's impossible. Something isn't right. What piece of the puzzle am I missing?'
That was when a figure leisurely walked out of the gate just as it was about to close.
Of course, it was Kenjaku.
The minute the leader of the men laid eyes on him, he shook.
'For a moment, just as he came out, it felt as if a dungeon boss was here. That terrifying mana that magic beasts have...why did I sense it from him? I can't sense it anymore now that the gate closed...how strange.'
The leader of the men walked up to Kenjaku, pulled out his ID, and said, "Kang Taeshik, Hunter's Association Surveillance Team Inspector. Are you Hunter Kenjaku?"
A small smirk appeared across Kenjaku's face as he responded, "In the flesh. Do you need me for something?"
Kang Taeshik took his glasses off, put in his suit pocket and took a good look at Kenjaku.
"Nothing major, just need to ask some questions. When we're done, you'll be able to leave."
