Kenji would like to say that he stared Lucifer down in his flaming eyes and told the price of hell to piss off, but that would be far from the truth.
"So from here on out you have two options," Lucifer continued addressing Kenji who was stood frozen in place, "One you can kill yourself, I'll let your soul pass on without interference and I'll take back what you stole from me. Or you can not kill yourself and see what happens when you make an enemy out of me."
Kenji stared at Lucifer for a long moment wondering if the demon was joking, but after a second Kenji realized he wasn't, "Fat chance, I'm not letting you anywhere near my soul after you tried to take it over. So you can fuck off right back to damnation and find some other sucker to fuck with."
Lucifer didn't seem surprised at Kenji's outburst instead an almost eager grin stretched across his face as he let out a long sigh, "No one ever does, but I assure you they all come to regret it."
With a flourish Lucifer put his shades back on, "Shame things had to go this way Kenji my boy. I just hope you can live with yourself when you realize that when the world around you crumbles to pieces and I consume every soul on this little speck of dust, you could have stopped it. But who knows maybe you'll manage to surprise me. Wouldn't be the first time."
Then before Kenji could say another word Lucifer turned around and walked through his portal which closed behind him with a flare of hellfire before winking out of existence.
"Did…did we win?" Kenji asked hesitantly, not daring to take his eyes off the space Lucifer had been standing, worried that the demon lord would pop back up to enact his revenge.
[No, the war has only just begun]
At that moment the earth itself began to shake so violently that Kenji was nearly thrown from his feet as the lights over head flicked before fizzling out plunging the entire hallway into darkness before the emergency lights kicked on.
'Zurx what the hell is going on?!' Kenji asked as he broke out into a sprint even as the ground beneath him trembled and heaved.
[Lucifer is making his move]
'I thought you said he had no power here?!' Kenji screamed back in a panic as he reached a set of stairs and started to take them five at a time.
[I said his avatar held no power, right now we are feeling Lucifer's full presence. I can sense his influence shaping the world and it does not bode well for us.]
'Mind be a bit more specific!?' Kenji shouted back only to come to a stop as he reached the top of the stairs and entered a long hallway with a series of floor to ceiling windows providing an unobstructed view of the bastion. But what Kenji saw made his heart skip a beat.
Thick plumes of dust rose into the air covering entire blocks, but the eerie patches of flat ground surrounded by towering skyscrapers were a haunting prelude to what had occurred. More than that Kenji could clearly make out the massive cracks running down the length of the wall, which was a horrifying prospect considering the distance Kenji stood at. The damage was so extensive that in some places Kenji caught his first glimpse of the landscape beyond the wall.
But the sight that made Kenji's heart stop was the giant pillar of malevolent purple light that stretched up endlessly into the sky. As he continued to stare at the pillar Kenji sensed a faded echo of power that left a sour taste in his mouth confirmed beyond a reasonable doubt that Lucifer was the party reasonable.
And just when things couldn't seem to get any worse a deafening whining siren echoed through the city, 'Warning…Warning…Incoming horde detected…this is not a drill…heavy dread beast activity detected…seek shelter immediately.'
Kenji slowly shook his head back and forth as Lucifer's words echoed inside his head, disbelief was replaced by a burning anger and Kenji imagined the demon laughing at his plight.
Kenji couldn't remember the last time he had been so furious, to the point where Kenji nearly crushed his phone as he reached into his pocket to answer the call, "Toga?"
"Kenji, you're alright! Where are you?"
"On the upper floor…it's not a pretty sight."
"That's what I assumed considering the fact that we've been deployed for active duty."
"What?" Kenji asked, temporarily taken aback by the sudden shift, "But none of us have our licenses yet?"
"I don't think that matters at the moment, apparently an entire section of the south wall collapsed meaning they're going to need every pro-hero to stave off the horde which leaves us on rescue and damage control."
Kenji's shock only lasted a moment longer before his dissolve hardened as he spun around and vaulted over the side of the stairs plummeting all the way back to the ground, "Where am I needed?"
"Alpha Hanger, sending you directions now."
Kenji nodded as the prompt popped up on his phone, "On my way, I'll see you there."
Kenji then hung up the phone and his eyes flared as the outline of his figure blurred around the edges and he promptly dropped through the floor.
It was only Kenji's third time using his intangibility, but he was already getting a grasp for how the ability functioned. In comparison to Togata who separated himself from physical matter when he phased, Kenji was diving into another dimension. The same dimension that he had seen after his first evolution, the liminal space that overlapped the physical realm. And diving was the correct term as well.
Slipping through the nearly infinite amount of space between atoms felt exactly like swimming but instead of using his arms and legs Kenji propelled himself forward with thoughts alone controlling the thin membrane of abyss that protected his physical body.
Reaching the ground floor after a brief descent Kenji materialized as he popped out of the ceiling startling those who had been idling nearby, "Sorry."
After muttering out a quick apology Kenji checked the direction Toga had sent him before breaking out into a sprint, his face a stoney mask as he imagined the chaos unfolding outside the Academy.

"Any word from Kenji?" Uraraka asked as she glanced at Toga who hadn't taken her eyes off the hangar entrance, "No, not yet. But it's only been a few minutes and he said he was on the top floor I doubt he could get all the way here so-"
Coming to a stop as he bolted through the hanger entrance Kenji's eyes rapidly scanned through the room before locking on Toga and making a beeline for her.
Toga's face blossomed into a smile as she went to hug Kenji only to stop as she saw the look on his face.
"I got here as fast as I could, what's happening, why are we still standing around here?" Kenji asked in an irritated tone.
"Jesus what's wrong with you?" Mina asked as she glanced at Kenji who glared back at her, "Trust me, once you see the city for yourself you'll understand."
"Is it really that bad?" Uraraka asked but before Kenji could answer a shout rang through the hangar.
"Everybody listen up!"
Everyone turned to stare at the person speaking, only to find a group of four boosted into the air on an earthen platform that hadn't been there only a moment before. But even stranger still was the colorful cosplay like uniforms the group was wearing with metallic headpieces made to resemble cat ears.
